Plot: Gather books that other youkai have because Eiki is curious about the notes left in said books.
How It Works: You start the game as Akyuu and have your choice of some characters to bring with you. (More-or-less for protection because Akyuu is too weak) After that you travel to various places (On the place select, the bottom one is the shop mind you) and beat up the youkai who live there. Every 5 stages you are allowed to leave after you beat up that youkai. After 3, sometimes 4 or 5, boss fights in an area you receive either a Japanese version of "Your princess is in another castle" or you get a book. Mainly it is the former that happens. Plot Point: It's a normal day in Gensokyo when Reimu Hakurei notices a strange fog rolling in. All across Gensokyo, residents witness this fog weakening and killing a great many lesser youkai. At the behest of Yukari Yakumo, she joins forces with Marisa Kirisame, Sanae Kochiya, and Aya Shameimaru to investigate the fog's appearance... (from Touhou wiki)
How it Works: You choose a party of 5 characters, with a 6th character, the Commander, helping out via support abilities. You head though various dungeons (also called Stages) and fight enemies in turn-based RPG-style combat. As you win battles you gain experience and level up, sometimes learning abilities. However, you also earn "Power" as you level up, and these points can be put, and taken out of, into 14 different categories (4 personal, 4 weapon-types, and the 6 stat types) to increase your stats or learn other abilities. Unlocking Fujiwara no Mokou early: After visiting Akyuu for the first time, talk to her again. The Bamboo Forest maze will appear to the west; head there, and travel through the forest in accordance with the Konami Code (Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right) to find Mokou.
Unlocking Byakuren Hijiri early: Head to Myouren-Ji, the building in the southeast where Minamitsu Murasa is standing. Wait in this building for a full hour of real time and a cutscene will trigger in which Byakuren will join.
You do not need to visit the SDM, Stage 1, (or visit Akyuu for Byakuren) to unlock those characters. However, it must be noted that the player must visit Akyuu once more after getting the recipes in order to unlock Mokou. Also, they will automatically join your party right before stage 9 (Mokou) and 11 (Byakuren) respectively if you do not recruit them before then. The puppets recreate and fill Gensokyo, becoming akin to pets.

Concept: A large cave sporting many different environments has popped up, and the girls are very eager to explore it! As time goes on, fake girls show up, and the cave is proving to have corrupting qualities. Think of Touhou Hack and Slash in terms of general gameplay.
How It Works: As noted from the title, this game is reminiscent of Blizzard's Diablo. You explore the one dungeon (the cave) and kill monsters in a hack and slash style. At first you control Reimu and Marisa, but you can swap partners with any of the girls in town and the other areas you will unlock. You can switch places with your partner as well, allowing you to build your own two-person team. Patches:

Plot Point: The season is summer, but for some reason snow is still falling. Marisa's Detective Agency (Marisa, Alice, Patchouli, Flandre) has been holed up in the Hakurei Shrine, and Reimu wants them to stop freeloading, so she kicks them out and tells them to go find out why it's still snowing. However, before they leave Mokou & Keine show up and request that the Detectives go find Mokou's "fiery core" that has gone missing. Mokou, who can't fight without her core, decides to go with the girls, and leaves Keine at the shrine with Reimu as a "registration fee".

~The "Tactics System"~
The tactics system puts you in control,
taking charge of the doltish fairies and whipping up intricate tactics to see them swiftly and joyfully through battle!
If (in which circumstances) → to WHO → do WHAT
Build your tactics with these components ahead of time and the characters will automatically follow your plan.
(Ex. If HP<50% → target ally with lowest HP → heal)
Your foes also act according to their own tactics.
Use Star Sapphire's ability to sneak a peek at these tactics and work out counter-tactics to hit them where it hurts!
(This is a bit too complicated for the little fairies, so all the tactics planning is in your hands!)

Description
Shanghai.EXE: Genso Network is a PC fangame which crosses the gameplay of the Mega Man Battle Network series with the cast of Touhou Project and that was developed by Technodot.
It follows the adventures of ordinary student Alice Shiki and her delinquent NetNavi Shanghai.EXE as they fight the evil ROM organization in a world where Everything Is Online. Its story borrows from multiple scenarios from the entire Battle Network saga. Several Touhou characters are put in the roles of some of the original Battle Network characters.
The original developer got a C&D from Capcom and shut everything down, just before it was completed but its leaked source code was built upon and translated to English. The game has a ending, but doesn't have 100% of what was planned to had.
