Have you ever played the classic NES game "Ice Climbers"? This is pretty much exactly the same thing, except with better graphics and Touhou character theming. You can play as Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya, and Remilia on your quest to clear all 60 mountains.
The only tool they carry is a wooden mallet to carve openings in the ice above and to club enemies. Each mountain level consists of some layers of colorful ice where some are easily disposed, and some others are indestructible, forcing the player to take another path.
Similar to original game, the bonus stage takes place at the peak, where players can collect some bonuses and reach Cirno at the very peak for the highest score.

Description
A bizarre phenomenon is occurring in Gensokyo when the land is ravaged by relentless earthquake. Tenshi Hinanawi flies down from heaven to investigate this incident and to relieve her boredom. Tenjou no Tempest, literally translated as The Tempest of Heaven and Earth, is a side scrolling action platformer adapting some elements of Touhou Hisouten. The game uses specific weather effects from ice, gusts of wind, thunder and rain. Every enemy has a specific weather effect associated with them, and killing an enemy by countering their attacks unleashes their weather condition. Also, most obstacles and stages must be overcome by using the proper weather effects.
There are four styles which can be fully customized to possess whatever bullet/spellcard type you wish. Important: Dashing through an enemy's attack animation will trigger a scarlet aura around the enemy. Attack the enemy with the Sword of Hisou to trigger a weather change effect. This is necessary at some points in the game to proceed. Scarlet mist on the ground are sources of large revenue. Use Sword of Hisou on them. You cannot activate them if you have full charge. Bosses sometimes will appear with different spellcards depending on how well you're faring. Taking multiple hits will result in your screen glowing red on the edges. This means you are close to death. To reverse the effect, you must stop receiving hits to regenerate constitution. Bullets/Spellcards can be bought with points that you have accumulated in the pause menu.

One day in the summer nights, Reimu was drinking tea at the heated table in Hakurei Shrine until Youmu's spirit came to her and said there were strange incidents in Hakugyokurou.
The game consists of side-scrolling platformer levels where the player fights through various spirits and obstacles before facing a boss at the level's end. The player takes control of the protagonist Reimu Hakurei, and, after completing certain stages the second protagonist Youmu Konpaku can be selected. Each character is equipped with chargeable melee attack, long-range attack and various spell cards. The game also features auto-save, helping the player to repeat or continue the game from the last checkpoint.

Description
How it works:
You're constantly running with no way to stop, except getting stuck but that'll cost you a life once the void behind the camera catches up. So you have to run while avoiding obstacles.
There are also enemies and they'll deal damage. Fortunately you have a limited time stop ability and an unlimited supply of knifes.
You'll also encounter bosses and get three or four lives as a reward once you beat one.
Once you can select stages you'll also be able to save your game in the menu that you access with "A".
Notes:
- Config.exe doesn't seem to work for whatever reason but there are ingame options as well.
- Maximizing the window will likely not work. External programs to resize the window seem to work just fine.
- There is no background music early into the game but that's probably normal. You will hear music once you get to select a stage.
- Run the game with japanese locale

Some time after the events in the first game, Sakuya returns from an errand for Remilia involving a book, only to find the mansion empty. It isn't long before Yukari appears and gives Sakuya a clue about where Remilia is and vanishes soon after.
The game is heavily influenced by Castlevania, particularly Symphony of the Night and retains most of the cast from Scarlet Symphony, with the addition of several characters from Touhou Youyoumu. Sakuya is agile and precise with her knifes, almost similar to Alucard. The second game also builds around many of the concepts of the first, adds more sub-weapons in the form of partners and is supported by professional seiyuu (voice actors).

The game is short enough, but the player must gather sufficient skills before going to the next level and facing the bosses. Also, certain stages will be hard if the player does not have enough upgrades. There are six linear stages, hidden power-ups and new features which can be unlocked after defeating the bosses.

Plot Point: Kanako told to Suwako Moriya she didn't has enough dignity to be a Goddess. Because Sanae went to exterminate some youkais, I went to a tour in my free time, and i'm now training to be a Goddess! (Can be innacurate, i used a translator to understand the plot and adapted it as best as i could.)
Playable characters:
Suwako Moriya:
Your starter, she is the most basic of them all. She has not special powers until you get a hat powerup when she already has a hat (shoot bullets)
Satori Komeiji (Unlockable):
She plays like Suwako. But the big diference is that she can see hidden blocks.
Orin (cat form, Unlockable):
She plays like Suwako. But she can always shoot bullets without needing a second hat.
Chelsea Mamonarge (Unlockable):
Who is she? An intruder from Gensokyo! She controls so diferent compared to the other 3, she can't run but has always a constant speed (AntiMario physics, the other characters are like that... She isn't) She can slowy decend in the air ala Bunny Mario from Land 2, and she can use a ladder ability by pressing UP+X; however, She cannot do another one when you have already used that ladder. You can recover your ladder if you press DOWN when you are not climbing it (Can be in the floor or even in the air).
Gameplay:
Play as Suwako (or co.) in a Super Mario Bros and I wanna be the Guy inspired plataformer game featuring 20 set of levels in 4 diferent dificulties. Easy being a tutorial like set of stages, Normal being your avarage mode, Hard is a even higher dificulty version of Normal mode, and Lunatic turns the game so unfair in a I wanna be the Guy style!
There is also a hidden mode of play if you manage to finish one of the dificulty modes the game.
The bosses are Bullet Hell sections! Be prepared for some Danmaku matches!
The game also features a replay mode, where you can see yourself completing the levels. Really useful to prove you have beaten those levels in lunatic! (For some reason, when i got this game, it already came along with some replays. It has some spoilers from secret bosses and modes... i don't recommend checking them out.)
