  1. Well, being a nijicon, it would be pretty bizarre if I wasn't enamoured with at least some of the characters from Touhou Project, wouldn't it. However, if we stick to something emotional per se, I would have to cite Stage 4 in PCB. The combination of the music, which is the most emotional piece I've ever heard, coupled with Lily White announcing spring just as the music reaches a crescendo always chokes me up. (T_T) Originally, this also happened to be the music for the Heaven stage in Wandering Souls, which was utter chaos as far as difficulty goes, yet it fitted the section so well. Finally getting to Tenshi & Iku at the conclusion of it all invoked many of the same feelings as finally reaching the Prismrivers if I'm honest. I think a lot of it stems from how much I hate the winter now, what with my CFS/ME constantly lowering my body temperature and making me cough and splutter for no reason all the time. As such, recalling that wonderful tune and the stage it belongs to cheers me up no end. Oh, and did I forget to mention too that I have a wooden Lily White plaque on my wall with her joyfully announcing spring with a big smile on her face. (=^_^=)
  2. As I said last night, it does sound interesting, so definitely count me in. (^_~) Indeed, despite not feeling so great, it prompted me to go on YouTube and see if I could find my 3 favourite remixed tracks from some of the Touhou fangames that I've played over the years. Mission accomplished anyway... expect the links to them in a PM soon. (#^_^#)
  3. D'ah, this topic is going way too deep into things for my tastes and I've just got better things to do than waste time discussing what amounts to little more than fap material at the end of the day. Porn has always existed and will continue to exist: it's only its form that changes with time. For my part, it's not difficult at all to understand why people prefer anime/manga characters to the real thing, especially in Japan, where it is taken quite a bit more seriously (adult manga/dojinshi are the epitome of erotica as far as I'm concerned, always have been). I mean, to cite an example, look at the difference between those cute meganekko/iinchou portrayals and Western bespectacled feminists... my god, the contrast couldn't be any more striking. (>_<) Incidentally, I will state that I've never been a fan of live-action porn; always found it obvious and vulgar, much like real women in general. Japanese AV is a little better, but still not a patch on the incredibly attractive characters these artists all create, including the more serious Western ones now (Rule34 used to be seen as little more than a joke by many). In addition, the various governmental/non-governmental organisations of the world have finally woken up to the obvious fact that the style of anime is clearly, overtly sexual, even when it's not trying to be that way at all. It's what you get when you combine the cuteness of Disney with an incredibly idealised version of the female form. I seem to recall someone saying this about Tenchi Muyo in the past, in that he wasn't sure whether he should be masturbating to it or not. (^_^;) Well, I'll leave it there anyway, though to lighten the mood somewhat, I'd just like to say that I'd be able to bribe Eiki with several big-titted images of Komachi, so I'll probably be fine in the afterlife, if there is one of course. (^u^)
  4. Nah, you didn't anger me at all, CVN. I'm just kind of tapped out over the whole fictional abuse charade. As I declared in the general chat, I used to run my own H-manga/dojinshi site, so I've seen way too much of people getting all het up over what amounts to little more than fantasy at the end of the day. For sure, I was extremely uplifted when I read about Taro Yamada & Ken Akamatsu making a stand in Japan against the encroachment of this nonsense from the West, although I don't see that happening in my country anytime soon. No, we will continue to persecute people for having the wrong kind of thoughts while turning a blind eye to actual abuse because that's the British way. (-_-) Incidentally, I sort of know how things are in Romania from Vee's channel since he is always commenting on the absurdity that is American politics these days and comparing it to the way things are where he lives, often humorously citing what his grandmother would say. I'm actually apolitical myself - never voted my entire life and don't care about such things - and Agnostic, despite being designated Church of England when I was born if it means anything (I did go to Sunday School when I was little; even still have the Bible they gave each of us). Yeah, and ukiyoe woodblock prints clearly show Japan has never had a problem with nudity or sex. A lot of Americans in particular seem to think 'hentai' as they call it, a word that is never used to described such things natively (it literally means 'pervert'), is something they came up with quite recently. Western feminists also believe Japanese women are oppressed and suffer abuse from such material, which is utter nonsense because some of the best stuff I've ever seen is by women. I mean, Comiket itself was practically floated by them early on for heaven's sake! (*_*) Note: Shinto shrine maidens were the ancient equivalent of kanbanmusume, designed to attract new worshippers to the faith. In many ways, Reimu's seeming obsession with donations isn't so far from the truth, even though ZUN chooses not to dwell on the exact method that was used to get said donations. Getting into Buddhism a little more then, one thing that modern-day socialists don't understand is that nirvana is a personal journey to spiritual enlightenment, not a perfect society or utopia. Indeed, because it's a personal thing, nirvana can never be shared with anybody. Like I often say to my mate, Chris: my idea of heaven would be his idea of hell since the things we appreciate most in life are almost completely anathema to one another. Heh, me being a blatant nijicon into the loli, preferring the sort of scenarios you would find in an Enid Blyton storybook definitely wouldn't suit his appreciation for beer, heavy metal, and much more buxom ladies, I can tell you. (=^_^=) In closing, I would add that Nitori from Hopeless Masquerade perfectly depicts my attitude to life, which is precisely why she's my favourite character from said game. Me being a practical engineer and scientist, and pretty easygoing for the most part, I choose to believe most issues can be solved logically, even though that isn't always the case unfortunately. Many of the guys here have touched on the reasons this stuff exists (Japan being Japan basically, nonchalent to a fault) and have undoubtedly gone through what I did with Sailor Moon to varying degrees once they realised the original creators didn't entirely share their Western sensibilities. Not sure that totally explains why so many people are enamored with the girls from Touhou Project, but it works for me at any rate.
  5. No, no, no!!! Not this damn crap again!! (T_T) How it is in Japan is exactly the way it bloody should be. People who obsess over the rights of fictional characters have lost their grip on reality and I for one am not going to get drawn into that argument again because it always devolves to hysterics. Lolis aren't people, they don't suffer abuse - stop listening to feminist lies and dogma! As for H material in general, we all go through an ambivalent phase: that's part of growing up and experiencing new things. Even I did with Sailor Moon when I was younger, deleting everything and not looking at a single image for around 3 months until I realised just how ridiculous it was. The Japanese don't care what Westerners think because they don't see adult material in quite the same way we do. It's merely okazu to them, masturbatory material... and yes, there's just as much of it for women as well, take it from me, so this is not entirely a male-centric thing either. (>_<) Christianity has taught us to view everything as a sin, yet Buddhism & Shintoism teaches one to embrace life's pleasures (you do know what shrine maidens like Reimu were originally for, I take it?). The Japanese also utterly embrace the philosophy of keeping public and private life totally separate, something Westerners seem to have no end of trouble doing, especially nowadays. Wear a suit & tie during the day and toil at the office; spend your off hours drinking lots of sake and banging young women in an image club who dress up as anime characters for you. It's a totally different world, that's all I can say. The way I see it, CVN, you have two choices: follow your own advice and chill out where this material is concerned, ignoring what you don't like and enjoying what you do, or run for office and attempt, no doubt unsuccessfully, to get it all banned. Personally, I'd recommend the former because the latter will deaden your soul, like it does with every prodnose who believes their life is the yardstick by which everyone else should be judged. Even Eiki wouldn't ban porn, you know, even if it was of her. (-_-) ETA: Oh, and I actually bought that game incidentally; it's by the same circle as Youmu Konpaku & Dungeon Of Lewd Creatures. Whatever you may personally think about the content of those titles, I've actually talked to the creator and he comes across as a decent, hardworking individual who sincerely cares about his productions. No-one is forcing you to buy or play them - you are as free to dislike them as I am to enjoy them. Let's just leave it at that, shall we.
  6. You're not going to vote me down again if I make the obligatory "Mima saves the day" joke, are you, maybe with Shinki helping her out? (^w^;) Fine, if I have to be serious then, keeping with sodaodaoda & Tayaya's approach, I'm picking my favourite: Suika. I mean, she's never been a playable character outside of the fighters and I'd no problem whatsoever with Aunn, 'good doggo', lending her a hand as Darksymphony777 suggested either, yeah. (#^_^#) Of course, and I surely say this with Queen Honeybumble's approval, Yoshika riding on Okuu's back like a certain wind goddess does in Sanae Challenge! Fusion would be fun too; a sort of throwback to Reimu riding on Genji in the early days perhaps. (^_~)
  7. Er, leeching kind of defeats the point of torrenting, don't you think? (^u^) At any rate, for smaller doujin stuff, it's probably not an issue, but believe me, you start downloading recent releases of Hollywood movies or TV shows, you are absolutely going to get flagged by your ISP nowadays in the US, Western Europe & the Commonwealth countries, so I wouldn't risk it. Of course, why you would actually even be bothering with modern day woke material is beyond me, but that's an argument for different thread. (=^_^=)
  8. Heh, just as long as they don't mess it all up at launch, like they did with AoCF, eh? (^_~)
  9. If you like PCB's Stage 2 theme, Ka Takane, I thoroughly recommend checking out the rendition in Bouhou Youyoumu. No, scratch that, I recommend the entire game because it's damn good to boot: gameplay, soundtrack, and all. (*_*) Sadly, I never got to record a playthrough myself because I got Youmu killed right near the end on Sakuya due to an incredibly stupid mistake. Rage quitted after that and I haven't been back to it since, although I did do both Scarlet Family games, which are also fantastic. (^_~)
  10. I was actually thinking the same thing, you guys... I mean, UM pretty much bundled every mechanic ZUN's ever come up with in one game, therefore what really is there left to try at this point that hasn't already been done to death!? (#^_^#)
  11. Just wanted to say a quick thank you to everybody contributing artwork in one form or another - some really great stuff there, keep up the good work! (#^_^#)

  12. Despite the fact I've seen plenty of Walfas & MMD related works, I haven't seen much of the material you guys have put up here, so first of all, thank you very much for that. (#^_^#) That aside, I watched Subterranean Rose last night and it seemed pretty good to me. The girls all looked nice and those were great renditions of Last Remote & Hartmann's Youkai Girl. Seeing Alice & Patchouli together instantly made me think of Mystical Chain too, the way they are forced to work together, although it really is just a take on SA sans Nitori for some reason. (^u^) In addition, I have to say the ecchi aspects of these sorts of things don't bother me anymore to be honest. I've seen a lot worse over the years, doujin wise, so I guess I'm just a lot more easy going nowadays. That in no way is meant to diminish your experiences of course; everyone is free to enjoy Touhou Project in the manner they prefer. (^_^)
  13. Okay, I've had a think about it, and I'd have to say Sakuya. I'm not sure my opinion is totally valid though, since I'm not really a big Marvel fan and have only ever seen Doctor Strange in a few of the cinematic movies, although I can hardly say I'm a huge Sakuya fan either. (=^_^=) Even so, Sakuya is pretty much ZUN's own personal homage to Dio Brando, and we all know how ridiculously overpowered he is. Of course, 'One Minute Melee' had her even handing him his ass on a silver platter, therefore I think I'll rest my case there. (^_~)
  14. Heh, that's an easy one: Mokou (nice image by the way), simply because she is immortal. Sure, Bane is strong and could pummel her to death in an instant since she really is little more than a teenage girl physically speaking (even Kaguya seems to mostly win out during their little catfights). However, with her constant fire attacks, Mokou is going to slowly wear Bane down until he goes up in a huge pillar of flame. (^w^)
  15. Huh, but you're Yukari aren't you!? Don't you live near Muenzuka with Ran & Chen? (^_~)
  16. God, that would be what Evil_Nazgul called "Nameless Hill" in his fangame Team (9) Mystical Quest; an area I accidentally stumbled upon after getting through the Path of Liminality (I prefer this translation to the Road of Reconsideration myself, it sounds more poetic). Suffice it to say, I didn't last long at all against all the poisonous monsters there... and nope, I didn't reach Medicine Melancholy either because you're clearly not meant to go there so early in the game. (T_T)
  17. Hmm, as Gou rightly points out, a mere human wouldn't get to eat anything given how powerful even the weakest characters are (perhaps a fist, foot, or gohei instead, eh?). Rumia, on the other hand, would get to eat whatever she likes, especially if you removed her ribbon - I mean, she even starts snacking on weeds in Fantasy Maiden Wars Scarlet, she's so hungry. (^u^)
  18. I kind of like the Moriya Dark (Default) theme myself, it's very easy on my old eyes. The two new ones have way too much contrast for me personally, even the Shrine iDark one unfortunately. (>_<) The extra options under the Customizer are nice though, and if it included a way to lessen that brilliant white text a bit, I'd be totally fine with it. (=^_^=)
  19. She's actually with all the MoF characters now, Turbonator, along with Komachi of course, on a big modified shelf I made up after I stupidly tried to move those boards you can see in the first photo with all the models still on them to the left of my fridge. Heh, I still haven't repaired Sanae's damaged gohei, although I did sort out Kanako & Nitori, who both had a foot snap off when they came away from their bases... oops! (#^_^#) Incidentally, what you see in these 6 images is only around half of what I have now. They don't show any of the stuff in the other rooms of my flat, nor the huge pile of dakimakura, various plushes, key holders, cards, CDs, etc. on the walls adjacent to my bed. Yeah, in short, there isn't anywhere you can look where there isn't something Touhou related - and that doesn't even include all the tapestries, scrolls, posters, clear files, pencil boards, tote bags, badges, manga, dojinshi, and what have you that I haven't even begun to sort through from my last spending spree, which I've stowed in a huge plastic garden chest along another wall for the time being. (^_~) Also, I have mentioned Buyee a few times already, CVN, and Romania is on the list of countries they ship to. Just be careful when you bid on items because it's very easy to get carried away and wind up with a consignment that is so big, it won't all fit in one box, like I did (it ended up as 4 the last outing). Be wary of the postage & customs fees too as they really can rack up if you're not careful, even if you are lucky enough to secure a bargain. (*_*)
  20. My personal take on this would be to do what I do... try to avoid the petty drama and just enjoy Touhou Project for what it is and very possibly will be far into the future; in your own way and at your own pace, and to hell with all the rest. (=^_^=)
  21. A very interesting read, CountVonNumenor, so thanks for that. Personally, I've only ever been to one anime convention in my entire life: MinamiCon 3 held in Southampton in 96. My brother drove me and a mate all the way down there and it was okay, but not something I'd ever care to repeat if I'm honest. Might be different with the real deal in Japan of course, not that I'm likely to be doing that anytime soon in my condition. (^_~) Hmm, and I seem to recall Chisa Yokoyama herself came to the one they ran the following year (Pretty Samy's voice actress essentially; a loli character I was seriously into as if my username wasn't a big enough clue), although she didn't receive half the reception she did in Japan simply because the likes of Pretty Mutation & Puniket could never exist in the West. (^w^) ETA: My brother told me yesterday that MinamiCon is actually still going to this day. That came as a bit of surprise to me as the original guy - Simon I think his name was - quit due to the workload and lack of interest after the fourth one. I guess things changed/improved over the years.
  22. The fangames certainly weren't as I've downloaded some in the past, but a DMCA strike from ZUN himself has apparently resulted in the official ones switching over to that format from what I read last week on here (I was also trying to find out why certain downloads aren't currently available).
  23. Let's try attaching those remaining images again, shall we. (^_^) Hmm, they are showing up fine now, but only if I insert them into the text itself, meaning they did upload successfully. Must have something to do with that last image since it is a bit on the wide side, eh! (^_^;)
  24. Physically, either version of Batman would win easily, given Reimu was pretty terrible in the fighting games next to Sakuya in particular. However, we are talking about a girl who can ultra spam Fantasy Heaven, so I highly doubt a few batarangs would cut it. (^u^)
  25. Am I allowed to link to one of my own playthroughs in here or is there some specific place for them? I didn't see anything under the main forum headings, so I'm going to go ahead and put it up just to see what happens. (^_~) I'm a tad upset over this one to be frank because I spent almost an entire week practicing only for my friend to totally ignore the email I sent him saying I'd finally done it. Worse, he then went and put up what felt like a flippant comment on another of my playthroughs about completing a couple of other games that I really don't care about anymore, presumably so he can ignore those as well. (-_-) D'ah, maybe I'm being overly sensitive since this was one game I never thought I'd ever complete on Normal. I mean, being colour-blind sure did me no favours when it comes to telling the red & green saucers apart, but nothing quite compares to the hassle I endured from those damn curved lasers... ZUUUN!!! (T_T)
