  1. She's always pretty wacky whenever she appears, outside of her ability (see CoLA 4-5). But I've held this belief for a while that most people go through a Sakuya phase at some point before moving on. jk i respect saguya fans
  2. did it really take two months damn Well it was fun, was always looking forward to the next round. It's interesting to see different tastes in music and hey I even got to add a few things to my playlist. Which is great because I get really lazy when it comes to digging for more stuff. Already mentioned mine along the way, just went with some favorites since this was my first time here. Funnily enough I wasn't gonna send in Cinnamon Cinnamon!! at first, only ended up here because I didn't wanna have 2 hifuu songs lol.
  3. Been listening back to some music from the first two Ys games. I really need to play more of the series when I get the time but the contrast of the very, very basic gameplay and this music is so funny to me. Only played the Chronicles re-release so I can mostly speak for that but, I've heard some of the other arrangements and they do have a different feel to them. Specially the Ys Complete versions, I actually prefer some of those over the more modern sound. also the games originally released on pc-88, the pc-98 series' predecessor, so that's neat
  4. Coke zero. Very healthy. Wish I could get an appointment with the Dr. Pepper himself but he's, he's not available here.
  5. I've only had the chance to play 3ds monhun and, I loved them even with the wonky camera controls. Only wish G rank wasn't stupidly time consuming to solo in those games because of hp scaling... it kinda burned me out in the end. Also share the same lukewarm feelings towards pokemon, though I just, haven't felt the itch to play any of the games in a while really. Anyways, my favorite goes back and forth between Final Fantasy 6 and Xenoblade Chronicles 1. Also I'm sure I would love SMT if I could get behind the whole demon system.
  6. I'm... actually gonna go with SA. Yeah it is one of the hardest games, and until recently it was the only game I didn't have a normal 1cc on, but after actually giving it some time I found it's like, real good. It has varied shot types that suit different playstyles (and offer a lot of dialogue options), the spellcards are challenging but fun to play through, the stages are very learnable, and it's actually really generous with resources.
  7. Was gonna say locking story content behind certain rules is probably the most extreme case, but thinking about it it's also a really good incentive to get someone to play through it.
  8. I'd say nuzlockes fall on the challenge run side of things, I'm talking more little decisions here and there that can make the game a bit more difficult. Like if we're keeping to pokemon uhh idk, I like to avoid using items in battle or using legendaries, the kinda stuff that isn't really intrusive. Think RPGs in particular give a lot of freedom with this but yeah most times it means you're locking yourself out of some content anyways. Just wanted to point it out.
  9. I know this is probably not what you're talking about, but a lot of games allow for a sort of "dynamic difficulty" by letting you play in certain ways, usually by limiting your options or ignoring mechanics. Idk you could avoid using certain equipment in an rpg, or choose to not bomb in touhou (which already has a difficulty setting on top). On a larger scale you have more specialized runs that usually require you learn the game in a different way but that's probably another story.
  10. Honestly I don't exactly know what the basis for those are. Would argue that a new one already began with UM since gameplay felt different enough to me from day one, cards aside. Hell even as far back as HSiFS, that brought along some changes to storytelling, gameplay, introduced Okina, and it was also the first game on steam if you wanna count that. But it would leave 14-15.5 kinda hanging there in the middle, which tbh they... kinda are afaik. Th19 could be it too, we'll have to see. Then again why not just wait until 20 to make it look nicer.
  11. Feels like it was just yesterday that it began 22: Nami Haven - Rough Sea (Blacklolita Remix) Inchresting... illusionary joururi isn't a song I go back to very often, it's a bit of a weird one. And so is this but, it takes the parts I like about the original and emphasizes them. It is a bit repetitive sure but, at the same time it doesn't linger in one place I think. I... didn't like the last buildup itself, mainly the synth, but everything after that is real good. 8/10 23: Diao ye zong - The beautiful world This was like, first thing I did was check if this was in the vault and surprisingly I couldn't find it there so I had to remedy that. Has been one of my favorites since, a very long time ago. The intensity of it all, the way the necrofantasia melody just drops like a ton of bricks at the intro, lyrics, theme, love all of it. ?️/10 24: Mōse - U.N. Owen was Her? Ohhh, I like this. Neat take on u.n owen being that it usually gets more energetic arrangements. I gotta be a bit in the mood for unplugged/folk-ish stuff but when it's good it's good. There's some cool stuff somewhere in the middle too. 7/10
  12. Got tired of trying to write long-winded commentaries 19: Water Color Melody. - M.E.P.H.I.S.T.O. Glad y'all pointed out the singer because I thought the vocals sounded familiar. Really love her voice and those rolling Rs. Just love this style of music in general really it's fun to listen to, and seems like it'd be very fun to perform too. 8/10 (btw Cinnamon, Cinnamon!! was my pick, didn't mention it back then) 20: Komeiji Records - Elegant Ice Maiden Had to go listen to it on the bandcamp page because Youtube compression doesn't like this one. It's... alright? I kinda like that piano sound, it fits in with the theme too. That section in the middle is pretty neat too but, yeah the rest drags for a bit and doesn't really do much else. 5/10 21: Demetori - Higan Retour ~ View of The River Styx I was gonna send in some Demetori before switching to SSH actually, been listening through some of their albums recently. Still one of my favorite circles tbh, I really do love the work they do and this one's no exception. Feel like it just paints a whole scenery, with the long notes and those echoey guitars in the background. 9/10
  13. Kept putting this off which I kinda regret because this is a really, really good round 16: Touhou Gengaku Kyo - Demoness of the Underworld I don't know if Merry the Magician is one of my favorites from GFC, but I definitely love the vibe it has going and the few interpretations I've heard of it capture it perfectly. Including this one. Piano+strings is a great combo and it fits this song really well. Gets rid of the more energetic rhythm in favor of showing the more spooky, melancholic side of the original, which I think is really the best part of it. There's a bit of light around 2:00 before it jumps back to the dissonance for the ending. Love it. 9/10 17: ssbbmaster - Where is that Bustling Marketplace ~ Immemorial Marketeers I swear this reminds me of another soundtrack and I can't remember it right now. Anyways orchestra with drums, metal drums it seems. Good! Very grandiose, very energetic, very "top 10 anime fights". Big fan of the reharmonization work during the 2:30 part, and also that one swapped chord at both 2:08 and 4:00 that gives it a more menacing and sinister sound and that I spent 20 minutes trying to pinpoint what it was. 8/10 where is that bus? 18: S.S.H. & Aether - Shanghai Scarlet Teahouse Few months ago I decided to dig a little bit more into SSH's stuff and when I arrived at this track, hoo boy. That intro already gave me some expectations but what I got was so much more. The main melody is kept pretty straightforward which is nice, while the B section gets some neat instrumentation and some more variations, really like those electronic drums the first time round though. Then that break down. That break down is so good. Followed by a guitar solo with the vocals blasting, right into another variation of the B section and then jumping back to the main melody yes. Pretty sure the vocals are samples, think they used them in other songs too but damn if they don't work great here. /10
  14. Well yeah their rules say no piracy or linking to piracy sites, which MS is, doesn't matter which section of the site you refer to. Could be any other site too and they would give the same treatment. This is just probably the best known place. Nowadays most communities don't want to be associated with piracy, it ain't a good look let's be real. I say nowadays because there's old posts in the subreddit linking to MS and other such things. As for "do members of those communities actually adhere to that belief" uhh, some do probably. I'm willing to bet most just look the other way in other contexts. Looks more to me like they're taking the piss out of people that act like that. Or just trying to lighten things up. Or both, no need to take everything at face value.
  15. It's ironic being that Touhou's presence in the west is entirely thanks to pirates. Yeah times change, I'm glad things are becoming more accessible yadda yadda I've said this before. When I got to playing the games there was absolutely no way for me to get them legally, and also I was like 11. Now I'm buying them as I can and I'm glad I can do that, and if I could get them physically I would love that as well. The one thing that rubbed me wrong was the whole, unironic holier-than-thou attitude Twitter had about the events. Some people are more involved and sure they gotta save face whatever, but the randos coming out of the woodwork what's up with that. I think the main issue people had with moriya was that, trying to find a loophole to keep the dls up despite the DMCA was seen as a dick move. And "why did they send an email telling them of the site". But aside from that I think this place has always been spoken of in hush tones, that's just how these things are. I do wonder tho if the "slander over something that happened twenty years ago" refers to spaztron's stuff, because he did that himself I just shared it here lol (and he was rightfully pissed). Afaik official-unofficial subreddits are always fervently anti-piracy it's not just Touhou. But Von, that's a joke post that spells "deez nuts".
  16. Fantasy Maiden Wars is a beast of a fangame that I'd even consider one of my favorite games overall. Game was surprisingly fun, music is amazing and it does a great job at reimagining the incidents from 6-12 all while mixing in an original plot. Really hope someone picks up the translation for it some day. By the end of it I had like around 140 hours of gameplay which is just, insane.
  17. Apparently it was because my refresh rate was not set to 60hz? For some reason? Not fully convinced but, sure.
  18. For whatever reason the fps counter in the games cap around 59.8 instead of 60fps? Thing is: for older games this only happens in windowed mode, vpatch or not. 10 and onwards it only happens when I don't run them through vpatch. So uhh, what's going on.
  19. Was just replaying this and figured I'd come back here. UHHH. Yeah the danmaku is a little bit eh, least until stage 4 which has always been the trademark difficulty spike but yknow. Speaking for normal difficulty here btw. The beast mechanic actually makes the game really hectic if you're not scared to go after them, add Youmu to that and I had a lot of fun. The powerup you get from the spirits I think is the reason people call it one of the easiest games, specially otter that shield is. lol. While I love the grandeur of Keiki that battle is served on a silver platter. So yeah as for the game part of the game, 's alright. The plot I found interesting too, I'm sure there's more than what I got out of it but I'm not a fan of overanalyzing.
  20. 13. Unlucky Morpheus - Feast the Night Away I heard about Unlucky Morpheus in passing and told myself "hey I should listen to more of them" and then I didn't. I think they have since moved to their own original stuff? Anyways, Broken Moon arranges are always fun. The oni are always fun. This is a fun song. The double vocals making it seem like it's being sung by both Yuugi and Suika is a really nice choice. Just wish the upload was higher quality but that has no bearing on the song. 7/10 ? 14. Yukari - Palace of the Earth Spirits This actually reminds me of something and I don't know what. Like the whole way it's arranged. It's really nice, some really good ambience, with a lot of percussion underneath to keep things moving. Really like all the little arpeggios on that synth too, it gives the whole song this like "dreamy" feel. It's a bit too low-profile for my taste though but, again it is bgm. 's alright. 6/10 15. A-One - Moondust (DJ Command Remix) Eurobeat is something I enjoy on occasion (or whenever there's a driving section in a game), but if I listen to too much of it at a time I start to hate it. Now this is a very mellow one which is a nice change of pace for the genre, but idk I feel it's missing... something. Like it has no bite. And not just because it's slow, like I went and listened to the original arrange by GET IN THE RING and I prefer that 10 times over. 5/10 Yeah I think it would've been better with higher pitched vocals. Wouldn't have sold me on it still but, yeah. Also that is indeed Keine without her silly hat.
