  3. Eh, usually I have many things to think about, so my brain jumps from subject to subject. Usually when I’m talking online it’s touhou or similar though.
  4. EXCELLENT NEWS! I have acquired a disc for the game, and it ships to me by Feb 1st at the latest. I will be ripping the disc and getting it ready to post here once I have it.
  5. I need your guys's aid in what can be considered a lost media case. So currently me and a friend are searching for the PC version of Hifuu Bouenkyuu by the doujin circle Chiyuudou (same lads who made gensou no Keifu). However, we have discovered that the game only released on CD for a limited time. We also don't have the means to dump the game from switch, so we have absolutely no means to translate the game or attempt really anything with it. If anyone happens to have a copy on CD, could you either point me to a place to purchase it or try and upload it here/send files to upload? My goal is to get the game archived on here so we can get it saved from the sands of time. Thanks!
  6. As someone who has essentially planned out an entire shmup game, I’ve got a few ideas. For now, I’ll outline one from one of my OCs. Violet Raha: A satori youkai with the ability to manipulate senses and sensory information. Though not as heavily shunned as satori and Koishi, she has a friendship with each and acts as an errands runner for them every now and then. She wears a purple dress and has short bluish hair. She wears a black ribbon in her hair that has an eye on the middle. Her third eye connects and floats around her in one closed circle, unattached to her. She also holds a rapier she uses as a hobby to keep busy. Now with her character set, next is the card idea I had. As a stage four boss, she will have three cards. I however only have the idea for one currently, relating to her ability. To manipulate sense, she creates a “psychic wind” which then effects the target when hit. Thus, her final card mirrors that ability. Psychic Wind: Suffocating Darkness - A card where Violet uses her psychic wind to blind the player. This card starts with her firing a undodgeable wave, where it temporarily blinds the player. As their vision comes back, the pattern is set up and fires as soon as the player can see a little. It has two waves of lasers, one on left and one on the right. They shoot diagonally down, crossing over to create the holes the player must stand in. The blindness essentially is there to make the holes harder to find, as you have less time to read the directions of the lasers to find the holes. After wards, a wave of seeking lasers come and fire at the players, converging on their location when they appear. After this wave, it repeats phases. On average, you should have to do the darkness phase twice and seeking lasers once.
  7. The issue with this is that though shrines can change hands in ownership, they only belong to one god. For example, moriya has kanako, myouren technically has bishamonten due to shou, and hakurei we don’t know. Reimu’s god channeling is similar to yorihime, just not as “at will” as yori. The shrine in general seems to not have any people worshipping for one specific thing, which is why it’s so hard to pinpoint the god.
  8. Heya newcomer! Nice to see new people come to the shrine. I see you also follow the path of liking a very niche character even though other characters have much more stuff for them. Though I’m not huge on hatate, I respect it lol.
  9. So my personal favorite is Kaaragetarou’s “At Chirei,” where it tells the prologue and events leading up to SA, with some additional elements explored. It has very solid interpretations of the characters, feeling close to canon and is one of the few that does parsee good justice. It is close to canon, but fills in blanks that arise, like Orin’s origins, okuu before she got yatagaratsu in her, and some smaller points. Finally, the art is just soooo adorable, and captures the characters really well. https://dynasty-scans.com/series/at_chirei
  10. Firstly, miko wanting to lead the village is in alternative facts of eastern utopia. And to go for the question, how I see it in fandom is the issue. There’s still quite the heavy notion they are separated due to differences in faith, even though much more supports otherwise. Also, to put a bit more, both byakuren and miko do not need faith, as they both are not gods. Miko has no avatars or really any living figure for faith due to Taoism being more about the actions rather than beliefs, and byakuren while having gods, she has an avatar in the form of shou, who acts for bishamonten. If anything, Shou has no competition with miko either because of bishamonten being a fortune god and not one with a religion based off of them. In this case, both byakuren and miko are priestesses for their corresponding religions, and therefore don’t interfere with each other much in that sense. It keeps adding up to that seeing the notion of them being enemies just. Doesn’t work. It’s one of the many cases where fanon is so wrong it’s actually comedic.
  11. One thing that has always been a very weird topic to me is how and why miko and byakuren are still so divided even though they have worked as Allie’s on multiple occasions. So, I’m opening this thread for a quick discussion. So my first point on this matter is their motivations. Byakuren as we know is much more passive in her approaches, as she holds a lot of fear with her. In fact, the reason she uses magic in the first place is due to her fear of death. Miko however takes an active stance on the issues she’s is involved in. She wants to protect the humans, which is the main reason she wanted to step up as the human village’s leader. However, she was convinced to back due to it killing youkai as a result from lack of fear. This shows an important part to miko in my opinion, where she does care for youkai’s existence. She just prioritizes humans, so honestly it would be likely that byakuren and her aren’t as far as we could originally think. The second part of it is their peculiar allyship in specifically AoCF. They worked together to eliminate joon and Shion, fighting her but failing due to not knowing about the trick joon pulls. What really comes of this incident though is that it establishes an environment where they agree to disagree, and a similar, albeit tenser and more divided, way to how it was in symposium of post mysticism. That, and three characters basically force them near each other. Miko and byakuren both took Kokoro under their wings, with miko giving her the hope mask and byakuren letting her be around the temple. Ichirin and futo gain an established friendship after AoCF, as they bond pretty well during it. Overall, I feel the notion of byakuren and miko being incredibly divided doesn’t quite work anymore, as canon provides a subtler arc between them as a kind of odd enemies to friends story.
  12. Yeah, and if I’m honest the bingos were mostly to encourage discussion on characters, where opinions make it easy to cause debate. However, there are so much more characters that are just easy to like or not care about that you won’t get much discussion on them. I might have to devise a different way of having larger lore discussions, which I personally haven’t though of yet.
  13. Hey y’all, just wanted to say that I’ve made the executive decision to cancel the bingo series. I have in recent time not been wanting to do it, and generally just don’t have the motivation to do it. I will, however, be updating my sorter soon, so I’ll post that when it’s done!
  14. Oooo, I voted 1. Satori, as I love just about every aspect of her character 2. Miko, the flashiest and gayest touhou there is imo 3. yuuma, as I’ve loved how she has turned out as a character 4. Keiki, as she is very fun to try and see how her character is 5. Doremy, as the smug Baku haunts my dreams 6. Aya, as she is perhaps the most gray and contradictory character in the series 7. Shou, as she needs more fans and coverage, but I think she is just so awesome
  15. It’s a fangame that plays like the Megaman battle network games
  16. She’s making some Devious Machines Day 60: Rika Rika is a very neat little character. She hasn’t really gotten any fangames(besides one notable exception) and is actually intriguing within the game she is in. Her whole mechanic thing is really uncommon, but there’s something really funny about thinking about a boring brown haired girl driving a tank or a ship shaped like an eye. Her character is pretty undeveloped, but I see most interpretations go for the excitable and curious kind of way, and I think it’s fitting and would be a cool contrast to nitori. Her only notable fan work is Shanghai.EXE, where she is a part of the main group of characters. She is really fun in that game and I wish she’d be used more as a character in other works. I don’t know her theme, her design is pretty boring, and generally the only thing holding her back is her lack of presence. Overall, cool concepts, very little execution.
  17. I’m guessing some of y’all have wondered why it’s not been uploaded daily, and I have some explaining to do there. I’m making the executive decision to let the uploads be more spotty, as this time of year I’m super busy and don’t have much free time. I hope you guys understand.
  18. I feel this specific things has been somewhat remedied in touhou 19, as that games cast brought back multiple characters from more recent works back. I feel like ZUN is very much trying to push the animal matriarchs as characters to good heights, and it’s been great so far on that front. Fans also love to take underdeveloped characters and give them fangames every now and then, like mystia’s izakaya or heart of the tiger. In general, fans I feel carry the characters ZUN doesn’t, which hurts and helps waka because she hasn’t gotten her “work” yet, but has dedicated fans that put her in the fangame jams.
  19. Fish girl! Day 59: Wakasagihime Waka is the weak point of the grassroots trio. Essentially, she came about because of the DDC power level changes, and became a part of the grassroots trio at some point. Her and Kagerou is a popular pairing, and I don’t mind it too much. But her own place in gensokyo as a whole is very unclear, as she really just kinda chills and doesn’t do much. I feel like fans have to carry this character to higher heights, as her lack of things to realistically do holds her back somewhat. Her design is fine, but I don’t care for mermaids, but her boss theme is pretty poor tbh. Overall, a fine character that finds difficulty with doing much more than she has.
  20. Not content, but I very much blame the character for why funky is a part of my daily vocabulary
  21. Space jam orb granny Day 58: Misumaru Tamatsukuri Misumaru is quite the potential character. She has one bit of her lore that is so substantial that it could carry her into a good spot. She is the creator of the hakurei yin Yang orbs, and apparently is her entire livelihood. She is a god of Magatama, and she basically hangs out in the cave and creates using the stone within the rainbow dragon cave. Her actual role within UM isn’t huge, but it shows that she is very aware and present on the mountain due to her knowing that it was izanagi objects being mined. Using these elements, she could definitely be a character within her own right, and I’d love to see her maybe be a kind of mentor or acquaintance to reimu, as she’d be curious how reimu uses her orbs. Her design is really neat, and I like the large amount of Magatama. Her theme is cool too. Overall, potential is great but hasn’t got used yet.
  22. I’m so jealous that I’m being written about Day 57: Parsee Mizuhashi Parsee is quite the character. She has some quirks that can hold her back or boost her up, depending on how she is written. I think the whole jealousy thing is very hard to make work sometimes, and overdoing it can make her very annoying. However, she can also have it work to her advantage and make her have some very cool dynamics with others. Parsee herself has relations with the other underground crew, and generally is pretty much at her best around them. Her design is simple but nice, and her theme fits her. Overall, this character can easily be messed up, but is awesome when done correctly and not overbearingly.
  23. There are two issues with that though. 1. Momiji does show up in one of written works (I think it’s symposium). This gave her a bit of personality and established the odd relationship with aya. 2. There really nothing wrong with making a character like this more than she actually is in my opinion. Momiji has a ton of potential to be interesting because the fans want her to be interesting, so she’ll technically exist as a character due to the fans being more than half of all touhou content produced.
  24. Wolf girl clause Day 56: Momiji Inubashiri talk about her in canon. Her in canon is an acquaintance to aya that may be feuding with, and is our kinda “average wolf tengu.” Now, this is serviceable for a character, albeit plain and boring, but will work fine. However, let’s talk about fanon Momiji. Fanon Momiji got incredibly weird, as she divided into two distinct interpretations. The first, I can’t talk about due to it encapsulating a risqué topic, but the gist is she got hit with the punishment all wolf girls get. She also got so much yuri stuff with aya, despite their relationship never being stated to be good. The other interpretation is one that I love and hope becomes the canon, which is Momiji being a significant figure for the wolf tengu, maybe as a guard or patrol captain. This could make her a lens into the wolf tengu, which would be great as we don’t know much about wolf tengu. Her relationship with aya could be a rivalry or something, as we can establish the pecking order with Momiji, and generally have her be our deep look into tengu as a whole. Momiji herself has a cool design, though simpler. Her theme is stage 4 at this point, which is an amazing ass theme. Overall, this character can go a lot of ways, and I hope it doesn’t go one of them.
  25. Well judging by how kogasa gets casually punched in lost branch of legend, kosuzu is probably more unethical to bully
