Huh... so basically, you're saying this "disappearing" or whatever only effected those inside Eientei when it went off, right? Weird... well, Keine, you're the history buff, right? This was obviously caused by some youkai, so who could have done it? Whoever they are, they'd have to be pretty strong to pull something like this off, so I'd like to meet 'em just to see if they're up for a fight. Who knows, maybe if I win everyone who disappeared will come back, or somethin' ridiculous like that.

"It's a bit odd since everyone appears to be missing aside from you and I," "It's really ironic since this place is called the "Bamboo Forest Of The Lost" as Keine mumbles to herself. "We need to take care this incident before is goes out of hand, Mokou, look at that thing on the ground!" *Keine picks up the thing and show it to Mokou* "It seems like a map? and there're six crosses?" Keine, confusedly said out loud.

Hey, it's me, Mokou. So, I'd heard this Futo weirdo mentioning that she'd "experienced death before", so I ended up wandering off to try and find her (no luck), but when I got back to the forest, it seemed a little... off. I came here to investigate, and everyone's just disappeared! Reisen, Eirin, even that bastard Kaguya's gone! It's a shame, too, I was looking forward to fighting her today. So yeah, what happened to make everyone disappear? It's super creepy and dead here, I can't find anyone.

(Will you do the honor of continuing the story, Cosmic?)

  4. I've heard of the news about the convention yet it ended poorly. Only the shell not the nut. What I mean by that is:

Back in 2015, people truly were gathering in Touhoucon since it is very rare for one to happen outside of Japan. Naturally, people there were having a great time with little to no drama. Those times were chill and if there is a convention, there's is bound to be guests: Musicians, Bands, Animators of all kind. Must've been a real treat to go there. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to pay a visit since I'm still in school.

Here is a reddit post about reviewing the 2015 Touhoucon.

Shame about your feelings on Parsee who is my favourite. However, I'm not surprised given the way she's been treated a lot in fandom.

I've positive that there're Paress lovers like you and they sure are really unique ones. Well, there aren't many Meiling or Yuugi fans that much. Back to the topic, wait I'm already out of ideas. So, I'll refill my batteries.

(Her theme is really underrated and tell ya what it is one of the first one I listened to.)

I might have yet another question. Where did many (or most) of the characters spend their time before their first game appearance? Were they just chilling somewhere, still doing their regular activities somewhere far in the background, or simply did not exist/were "born" just before their featuring game/manga?

These're very good points, if we use the origins, (Assuming it's them) they're doing the typical youkai stuff: eating flesh, terrorizing lords and having a rowdy time dealing with humans. Fairies, most likely making and using stuff they don't understand, be it some nature drink, powerful curse items and flowers.

Ah yes, they could also be "born" when Zun said so. Beginning with the instruments and to youkais, gods and what not. Probably, most off 'em are just chilling doing their regular youkai stuff or getting screen time for the first time in the franchise.

another thing is we can't really define strength in gensokyo in the same way we can in other fandoms due to the spellcard rules and the fact all the lore is vague across the board

do we measure strong via physical strength which would narrow down to the yuugi, suika, kasen, yuuka and aya

their abilities which would include: suika, shiki, toyahime, junko, both scarlet sisters, reisen, okuu, yuyuko and hilariously kogasa

infamy among the populous like yuuka, yukari, mokou, yuyuko, koishi. the yorigami sisters, marisa....sort of, shiki and seija

intelligence and information gathering which would just be aya, yukari, okina, mamizou and hecatia

we realistically can't judge someone like hecatia who we have no idea what her capabilities are outside of "she rules hell" and her biggest role in the lore is telling clownpiece to stay at reimu's, granted if it was to continue it may lead to a showdown with okina but will most likely be glossed over for more characters

though if i had to pick a winner, it be kogasa because then it be a surprise.e918e05ba06d2b9d2d59cd2ccaef5151.thumb.jpg.a00dba0c937951ac2f67c545a3b2810f.jpg

It seems to be the case, spellcard rules or not, they're indeed powerful. Yes, this is why ATM started this topic in the first place. I've yet to wait more contributions on this thread.

I'm here to tell you that I've beaten your game. (Level 7 down with all the gimmicks)

Actually, I lost it on the 7th stage the first time. (My mother called me for dinner and got distracted)

But needless to say, the last one is indeed brutal if you're deck starts out with moves cards. The one I've great difficulties are stage 5 and 3 or maybe also 6 (You need almighty luck, thankfully the ai is a bit kind on that one)

    Spoiler

After 30 minutes of grinding, dying to turbo enemy and rapid spawns; I'm finally back to the last brutal stage. (Full hand 'cause Dream J'oon got me covered)

  9.  My picks aren't that different from you.

    • Hecatia Lapislazuli: The Hell Goddess
    • Shiki
    • Junko: A Divine Spirit
    • Shinki & Okina: Goddess Of Maikai & A Secret God Of A Sage.

    Hecatia

Well, you've already stated the reasons for Hecatia and she is strong. I wonder what kind of scaling we'll use when compared to others who are outside of Gensokyo and the Lunar Capital.

    Shiki

She is a Yama whom will judge the soul of the death and will decide who will go to heaven and who will not. I do believe she holds a lot of power being a judge.

    Shinki

She is a confusing one since Yuuka was no is confirmed to be the strongest Pc-98 character. If you use this she is more powerful than Shinki but Shinki can create a whole world and people by herself so she is theoretically the powerful one. I also think Shinki highly underestimated the main protags as well to lose.

    Junko

She can purify anything to their original godly nature, before they had names. Therefore, she can create gods and will defeat the Lunar people. (I don't know who will come out victorious when Junko and Okina faces each other)

    Okina

    1 hour ago, AMT said:

She is one of the Sages of Gensokyo, and therefore also one of the people that helped create it in the first place, she repeatedly brags about how easy it would be for her to remake Gensokyo, and these claims are certainly backed up by her already massive power.

    File:Okina 2.png

She lays chaos to Gensokyo while barely being bothered by it, twice actually, since she's also the true mastermind behind the incident in 17.5
All of the protagonists in Hidden Star in Four Seasons lose against her in the stage 6 fight, and when they come back for a re-match in the Extra Stage, they are only able to "win" because Okina literally lets them win as to honour their courage, Aya herself realizes (and Okina confirms this) that she could've just ejected them back into Gensokyo again. She didn't even actually lose, since her goal in that game was to make a show of power as to make people aware of her, which has certainly worked, replacing Satono & Mai was either a secondary objective or just a straight-up lie, and I won't even begin to get into this, but her plans in 17.5 worked flawlessly, she basically played everyone like a fiddle.

    It's as stated above.

I'm going to be honest about those tags on Pixiv. Sometimes when I see artwork that is completely fine, there would be weird tags associated even if they aren't related. I try to remove the bad ones as much as I can, but I don't understand why those tags are on the safe side to begin with.

I too also try to be on the safe side. More often or not you'll come across the weird ones like Von has sated in this earlier thread. I mean there're pros and cons with the site. Overall, be extra cautious that's all I can say to the matter.

Yeah that's the standard I guess, just cover the bits and it's safe. Boorus have the "questionable" rating but it's still very subjective.

(that Okuu is a tad more tasteful I'd argue)

That's how most of the media work. No cover for bits? not safe. Cover for bits but not the whole thing? They sleep.

I wonder if they cover the holy hole it's going to be acceptable?

We have seen them already in the main story so please, for the love of ZUN, someone add them in the game. At least Kogasa and Mayumi. Unless they tie the appearance of normal 2hus in the game with the event they are featured in, and the only characters coming together with the story as banner are the SFES ones.

I do hope so too. May they see the daylight.

It really is a shame we longer get the free costumes. I think they stopped doing it after the half a year anniversary, and was just one of the many controversies sparked at the time.

Truly is a sad time isn't? Now you can get this limited edition costumes for the low low price of "480" god crystals. Which you can get from "special" errands which will give you 1-3 god crystals but with RNG, you could also pay us and receive your costumes. (I remember when they have 320 costumes in the shop, those were lost in the past.)

Until now, I really did not play too much of it. I need to beat Floor 15, and just cannot get to do it without wasting a lot of resources. Which is even more ironic, since I have two fully upgraded SFES units (Lunar War Toyohime and Reimu Shaman). I did not manage to beat any of the EX stages either yet, despite the very strong units owned, since most of the times I try playing turn into an unorganized mess of a combat.

Actually, I did a lot of big brain decisions when playing Ex stages and especially the tower. Since I'm very familiar with Turn-based games, those're cake walk for me. I'm currently in Floor 48. (I don't have the motivation to do more floors) With only weak teams no S+, S or anything like that. Best case scenario, the boss will miss the attacks and will use a useless spell card. But coming back to the team selection, I only had 17 characters and 70% are occupied by fairies. I did use the continues feature and maximize my whole team. First barrier breaks and pray that your units do oni level damage and No rng gods will curse you. And of course, I've beaten all the Ex stages; those were really a pain on my butt.

Wait, you drew this for Dream of Arcadia? It looks very good! I like it. Have you done anything more on that matter?

It is Needlemouse who had drawn for Dream of Arcadia, I draw that for cosmic in hopes of giving him a title screen idea. (I'm an amateur at Digital Art, having created only two pieces but will create more and I'll love to take part in a game jam together with you guys)

What's with that long face?" Mokou seems to be surprised by the sudden appearance of her old friend. "Keine you didn't disappear!" Said Mokou in a confused tone.

Reimu really looks nice in that outfit. I wonder if there is fanart of this specific one. But at how big the art gallery is, there sure has to be something...

I haven't seen that outfit in a long time in fanarts since the release of the manga. I too wonder if there're fanarts of this one. If not I will execute "fine I'll do it myself" in your thread about drawing.

Oh, so they were involved with Sporadically Margaret? That is quite a nice song.

Honestly, now that we got into IOSYS, I have a different question. In the original post, I was asking about how did Shinra-Bansho get to interpret some of the more famous songs created by other circles. Among those, Marisa Stole the Precious Thing (Shinra-Bansho ver.), Help me Erin! and that one Nitori song that sounded extremely depressive (I forgot its name). For the latter two, I first found them through Shinra-Bansho, and thought they were the original creators of those songs until finding out they are actually from Cool and Create/ beatMARIO. I know these songs came to be most likely out of collabs and the "I Tried Singing Touhou" and "Shinra Museum" albums, but a thing makes me feel weird. At the end of Help me Erin! (Shinra-Bansho ver), the song ends with the singer literally mentioning the name of the band multiple times after also mentioning a few times the names of the singers (Ayaponzu and Ayo). Where does this come from? That part does not appear in the official lyrics as seen on the wiki, but if you listen to the song, they are there.

I am not even gonna ask about the whole mess with the song Paranoia and who created it, because there are like a million versions, each of them sung by a different music group (though in the Shinra version, they again did insert the name of their band among the lyrics like a dog trying to mark its territory).

Truly is odd like you said after watching the versions that you mentioned above, I too heard the band names multiple time throughout the end of song singers' names too. I'm tad bit curious about it.

I have no idea what a train wreck of Paranoia is? Indeed, there're too many versions; At this point I don't even know whio made the original. Is appears that the song is a gold mine for bands?, since every band in existence try to sing their version. (There's one version with a halo announcer voice in the beginning --> 【東方ボーカル】Paranoia【DiGiTAL WiNG】 - YouTube )

Sometimes ZUN should give heights and other data about the characters... We're losing our minds for just a single number hahaha xD

Zun really like to give vague descriptions of characters doesn't he? I have a feeling he just want to make fans their own theories. About heights, we're going to having a lot of inconsistencies between official print works and game sprites like Von has stated. (If my memories are correct, I've seen a gnome height Marisa in one of the reddit post discussing about heights and Rinnosuke was so tall in there)

    16 hours ago, CountVonNumenor said:

Another reason for which we cannot really rely on sprites, at least those from Hopeless Masquerade can be seen here

    unknown.png

I have put some of the sprites together, and oh dear how weird the proportions are. I guess this is really explained by the fact each of them are at different distances. As for inconsistencies in general with the official art, check this out:

    hlrn666lhfd51.png

That moment when even official art messes up perspective and proportions (image from Silent Sinner in Blue, notes added by a Reddit user -  I have lost trace of the thread in which this was discussed)

This is the point, there're too many inconsistencies between art styles. So, multiple height values were created causing confusion around the community.
