welp turns out all i had to do was remove the dll file that comes in the folder in the download and replace it with the d3dx9_43.dll. i am a tad dumb.

hello. complete newbie when it comes to touhou and absolute moron when it comes to file installation. i've followed most of the advice here to download touhou 8 but every time i try to launch it i get this message. help pls
