I think Artemis is going to be the stage 6 boss.
In fact, I actually had a dream that Touhou 21 released. It had a team mechanic similar to Imperishable Night, Subterranean Animism, and Antinomy of Common Flowers, but it was "human and spirit":
Reimu and Mizuchi
Marisa and Toyohime
Yuiman and Kanako
Youmu and Yuyuko
The stage 1 boss was a teenager that was killed by a plant, stage 2 was Rei'sen, stage 3 was a goddess named Solaria that could manipulate energy, stage 4 was Yorihime, stage 5 was Tsukuyomi, stage 6 was Artemis, and the extra stage was Chang'e with Junko as a midboss.
The team of heroines (depending on what you chose) went back to the foot of the mountain (encountering the teenager and Rei'sen) to go to the altar where they encountered Solaria who was summoned by Nareko to help keep the lunarians out, she tells the heroines to go to the lunar capital, in the lunar capital they found Yorihime who said an ancient god was invading the palace, in the palace they found Tsukuyomi who directed them to Artemis.

Woah dude this is soooo cool! I would love to see something official as this, especially yuiman, kanako and toyohime being playable, yuyuko and youmu as well
Though how much probably would be for ZUN to make two following games focused in lunarians is a thing to see.
Because honestly I see it as possible but at the same time I'm not so sure (but that could be just me being skeptical, as always
)Oh God, I WOULD love this and this is by far the best prediction to me. Seeing how ZUN has done an excellent soundtrack without the use of zunpets was truly something needed from quite far time ago and it was a gift that I am still very grateful for it until this day. Songs like Stone Godess, Four-Colored Labyrinth, The Maiden sinking into the Deep Sea of the Moon, Sacred Forest, and much more. All of them bangers. From the first song to the last one.
ZUN is truly a magical genius.
So yeah, im all for it for more experimental songs from him! I will wait patiently~
Well is true that some touhou games have lately suffered some bugs but from what i have seen they're pretty minor to affect your playthrough and rarely happens overall, while gimmicks are more subjective.
Now I just question myself why do you believe that the characters were forgettable, because to me only some of them were (with "some" I refer to all other characters that aren't Chimi and Nareko lol. Sorry, I just don't like Nareko that much

Hmm I'm not sure. ZUN has said that he would have VERY interesting ideas for the next following games (or at least under his words) so I think he's gonna become far more creative than what he already was in FW. Of course, what I'm thinking is that he most likely is going to go for a lunarian esque plot again (though I'm not sure how much they would be involved this time), because it seems that we are gonna have a set of events just like how it happened from WBaWC to FW (which it was one of the most epic eras IMO). But I could be wrong. So yeah, lunarians is what I'm going for.
Oh and since Mima haves connections with the moon, it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring her back in some of the following games if it involves lunarians(though let's be honest, we all would make Mima come back in a way or another, and she is one of those few pc98 characters that haves a lot of different ways to do so lol)

I'd love for the incident to have a saga similar to the last set of games. I'd really like Yuiman specifically to have some sort of appearance, and I'm biased towards plots with the Lunarians and their related characters.
...other than character appearances I'm not sure since FW is the last game that came out when I got into Touhou...My theories don't know what to expect

what's been going on with replays in the recent games? it seems like they have had a lot of issues since 18. they havent been this broken in the older games

I cannot tell you the specific technical details I just know that the likelihood of a replay breaking in TH20 is really high; so high that the thpractice tool was updated to prevent TH20 replays from breaking. For TH18 I don't really know, one of my friends had replays break a lot on Marisa specifically though.

This is ZUN who we are speaking about. And he cares more about surprising people than about how much convincing his options for a story, music and characters may be. Let's be real, I don't think anyone expected Toyohime in a Touhou game, much less Iwanagahime itself.
