    Listening to this again, and good Lord, that nostalgia hits like a train wreck.
    One of the many sets of Touhou (though it isn't technically a "Touhou" theme) themes which got me into the series. This piece feels like it speaks on a much deeper and personal level than almost any other ZUN has composed.
    It's like you've heard the melody your entire life.

    Of all of the music ZUN has composed, I believe some of his most genuinely beautiful music are Maple Dream, Theme of Eastern Story, Eternal Shrine Maiden, and of course, this theme.

    Last night, I was able to encounter and beat Kaguya for the first time (alongside unlocking the extra stage) with Reimu and Yukari!
    I'm not sure what the conditions are for unlocking Kaguya's boss fight though, as on that run, I was doing significantly more terribly than I normally do.
    I was of course expecting to fight Eirin, so ending up fighting Kaguya was quite a shocker for sure.

    Well, I think I know what the "special reward" is as I had used the full unlock code on the IN on my old laptop. lol
    But anyway, aside from maybe once or twice, I've always been able to 1cc the game with either the Border Team or Netherworld Team (as I've mentioned before, fighting Reimu is basically like a death sentence for me, as I almost run out of lives and bombs each time I fight her), though that's only if I can get through everything, which in that case, some days I can, other days I can't.

    IN was confusing to me for that either Eirin or Kaguya fight, Kaguya's theme is absolute banger tho

    There'll be the first hurricane in two years probably hitting where I live on Saturday or Sunday, so that'll be fun.
    Just hopefully the power and internet don't go out by some miracle.
    For those of you who want to know, the hurricane is Hurricane Isaias. It's a Category 2, so it's not the strongest, but even a Category 1 can do a lot of damage.

    Yes, they always do, but most often over land. Hurricanes tend to get weaker when they go over land or go up too north.
    Hurricanes (and all forms of tropical cyclone) also decay over time just like any other storm.
    Typically, the bigger and more powerful the hurricane, the less time it'll last for (at least if it reaches Category 4 or 5 level). Still, tropical cyclones as a whole are probably among the most unpredictable storms on Earth. I believe I remember I once read about a tropical cyclone which lasted for over a month (it wasn't a Category 5 though, thank the Lord).

    Edit: I was wrong about the 1-month tropical cyclone not being Category 5 strength. It's highest wind speeds were 160 mph (260 kilometers) which are in excess of the minimum wind speed of 157+ mph for a storm to be considered Category 5. The name of the cyclone was Typhoon Freddy.

    Watched all of the first season of Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita yesterday (my time). It was in fact one of my first anime back when it aired, but I only watched the first couple episodes, most likely because another anime probably took my attention more than it.
    Still, with rewatching it now, I really love the dynamic between Shishou and Fran.
    (It's also really refreshing to watch an anime that has next to no fanservice!)
    I'll watch the first couple episodes of the second season in the morning, though I suppose after that, I'd need to wait for the rest of the episodes to air.

    I personally don't like the remake all that much. Of course, the original Ranma anime was among my first anime back in 2022, so I do have some bias due to nostalgia, but when I watched the first episode of the remake, it's artstyle seemed too "action-y" and the fact they gave female Ranma pink hair also rubbed me the wrong way. Alongside that, things seemed to be paced much too quickly in the remake as well.
    But eh, I guess that's just my opinion.
    I originally got into Ranma as I tend to like stuff with unique plots, and when I started watching it, I immediately started taking a liking to the characters despite their tendency to beat each other up. lol

    I think the reason the remake is paced so fast is because they r apparently doing a more faithful adaptation which means all the filler that one in the old anime is gone now, which i think is nice.

    i am kinda hoping that if the anime does make it far enough they can give a better closure to the story than the manga did. although i dont think it will happen since its supposed to be an extremely faithful adaptation 😔

    This one I have a lot of nostalgia for. Despite the video only being 6 years old, it feels like I've known it for far longer. I must've found this right around it was uploaded, but I cannot be completely sure.

    Though, something I will say is that I've almost always imagined this song played over the marching army of some sort of evil empire.
    Well, I think much of that image has to do with the Voegouta Empire from my Story.

    Also, funny story about the artwork in the video.
    It's by a guy on DeviantArt named JustV23, and I first came across him several years ago when I stumbled across his space art (which I still consider among the best space artwork I've come across so far) and among the older artworks I saw of his were Touhou artworks. Of course, at the time, I wasn't interested nor did I really know anything about Touhou (as this was around 2023 at the latest, at least over a year before I got into Touhou).
    At some point last year, I found this song and I looked into the comments to see if anyone knew where the artwork was from. I found a reply with a link to the artwork, and imagine my surprise when I saw "JustV23" as the artist (by this point, I had long forgotten his Touhou artworks).

    Why does SA's music sound so exemplary of Touhou to some extent or another?
    This is also just such a mystical-sounding theme...
    Always listening to really good Touhou themes more like this is why it's impossible for me to make a sound decision on my favorite Touhou theme or even with music as a whole.

    If this is the actual theme from the game, then good Lord, I think I like this version even more than the original!

    Still though, of the mainline games, I like every one of them aside from to some extent or another with UM, UFO, and TD. (Those games just don't appeal to me as much as the other ones do. Still, even those games have their strengths in my eyes.)

    Unconnected Marketeers has been growing on me in terms of characters and story but yeah I agree those three are not very appealing, which is a shame because the UFO soundtrack is simply amazing (can't say I like the TD OST as much though.. probably not ZUN's strongest works except for arguablyTrue Administrator)

    The music of both UFO and TD sound pretty good to me (I especially love the more heavily "electronic' sound of TD's music), but it's still not often my favorites though.
    UM's OST is mixed for me, though I haven't listened to all of the themes in any of those three games either.

    Ah yes. I think a official Touhou game where you play as literally every character in the series and all of them feel unique would be really good. But I know ZUN would take at least 6 years to develop it :Sanae:

    Len'en 4 exists, and it sucks ass for literally that reason. You don't want a shmup with too many characters and also conforming to the touhou formula
