Hate on fumos

I can't wrap my head around this Touhou fandom lately. Can someone explain to me why you're all so very obsessed with these expensive, soulless, and ugly Fumos? Are the people who buy them even sane? I believe these meaningles,monstrous-looking freaking plushies are just turd factory-made,
expensive trash plush selling for over $100 for no reason other than If you like Fumos, I sure you're either a NewGenor a 10-year-old who thinks "funny fumo baka memes" are the of comedy. I believe true(Extinct like dodos) Touhou fans will know thatWalfas and Gyates were more funniest. These things really had
Now all I see is a bunch of popular culture slaves(?) sharing photos as if they just rained down from the sky for free. Imagine spending +100$(Also bootleg sucks)dollars on "Baka" Cirno or a stupid staring sakuya fumos and then just letting them sit on a shelf with that creeping empty looks It's not cute it's an overpriced trashsity.fumos ruining the fandom with this low-quality, consumerist trash.

Also I hate gift.

Fake interest, that's why

I spent 40€ on each of my fumos, I don't regret spending the money.
Their quality is very good with strong stiches and quality materials.

Regarding the photos, fumo is a great travel partner because it doesn't complain, making it so people will travel to interesting place to take pictures with them.

Both fumos and walfas are overrated as fuck but they still have their fans.

Fair enough, I think they look goofy and funny, but it's a matter of taste afterall. As for overpriced expensive turd factory stuff, this could be said for all figurines and all accessories, it's just plastic with paint on them. Same for fumos, its just painted cloth with some stuffing. People buy them because they think it's worth it and the price won't go lower unless people stop buying them.

Walfas and Gyates were more funniest..
My humour is the only true form of comedy and anyone who says anything else is a fake or a child.

Yeah, fumos have outgrown the fandom so many start with those, I can see what you mean by pop culture slaves, but it's not any worse than having a random ass metal cover channel doing a touhou cover and flooding the community with tourists. It's just a form of immigration, most will leave when they see the first armpit shrine maiden meme.

Also, the hatred against bootleg fumos is just retarded and people bitch about why "original" fumos are so expensive. If you like a plushie, just buy it. Why worry if it's from company X or Y.

As for consumerism, same could be said about figurines, spending money on overpriced piece of plastic, instead of lets say... buying the mangas or the games. But it may be heretical to say this on this site in particular.
:Sanae:

Edit: so he just made this account yesterday, i just noticed lmao, I managed to waste time on this. Someone is attention hungry.

Personally I like them, I find them to be a cool part of the fandom. However, the availability is low and the resell prices are insanely high (that's where they cost $100+). The actual prices are not that bad at all.

When something gets popular, people start making fan content out of love, and fumos are such a thing. Some people don't like them and some people do. That's completely fine. However, complaining online about them is just a retarded move, if you don't like them just ignore them.
This is not a new fad, they've been around for at least a decade.

Also, saying that fumos are stupid and also that bootlegs suck is kinda stupid, if you can't fathom the price of the originals, then get a bootleg. If you don't want either, then don't get one.

What I can tell you is that Fumo is manufactured by a factory in Guangdong, China. The factory once sold a batch of Fumo privately for 70 yuan. Furthermore, the Doujin community in China is now so diverse that it can produce any kind of Fumo, which makes up for the lack of fans of many less popular characters.

Fumo is now gradually developing into an independent subculture, much like Yukkuri was back then. The only difference between them and Cookie is their close connection with Touhou.

Well, I have to say, Fumo has indeed solved many people's concerns. At least they are no longer just shooting landscapes, but adding their favorite Fumo to the picture.

Last year in China, a "Fumo Drifting Project" was launched. A Reimu Fumo traveled all over China in a year, as far as Heilongjiang and as high as Tibet. I think this is a great feat.

This entire post has to be ragebait lmao what

"consumerist trash" "destroying the fandom" despite fumos being officialy licensed Touhou merch lol

You got something to back that up or are you just pulling that out of your ass?
To answer this question, we first need to analyze İs Touhou's popularity is decreasing, or increasing? If you search "Touhou" on Google Trends and click globally and click ro 2004-to now, You see Touhou fandom is"Dying(!)",But Does that mean Touhou is dying? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Touhou used to be a fandom that thrived in smaller forums like 4chan. Back then, computers were prevalent, and you had to search on Google to access thats forums. but, things changed in 2020 and beyond. Smartphones became more accesible and people shifted from forums or imageboards to social media . It became much easier for people to discover Touhou, but consumer culture also played a role. You no longer need to Google to access TikTok, Reddit, or YouTube. People just go into the app and find Touhou content through the search bar. Yes, fumos have always existed, but they were never involved in such bizarre things. Some people portray even a simple plush toy as something incredibly important. There are many people who are very offended by content called "fumo abuse." Of course, this fumo culture only revolves around Reimu, Marisa, Cirno, and Koishi, Flanders. The fandom has used Cirno fumo for stupid things. Then there's the "secondary fan" situation. My friends who know Touho, or Explained iy, only know fumo, some IOSYS musics, Bad Apple, and the "Baka Cirno" meme. and this is a very bizarre situation. I especially hate Gift. Original fumos are extremely expensive, and bootlegs feel like counterfeit Chinese brands, especially some of them with terrible anatomy. Also, they're not always readily available. Gift only releases certain fumos for sale during specific periods; otherwise, you're forced to resort to the black market, which is huge. Finally, the Touhou fandom isn't dying, it's on the rise. While it used to be known only by those persons with know internet culture, now it's becoming a series even obese iPad kids are starting to know.
