Elegant Dungeon Crawling Artist
I recently started playing Kenshi and I had the idea of turning my gameplay into a fanfiction after starting Tenshi's quest.
This story will feature the protagonist of my playthrough and it's technically another crossover, so I understand if this doesn't suit everyone's tastes.
The sun burned the sands of the continent as Analina Toshi, one of thousands trying to earn a living in this hostile environment, attempted to find work. The platinum blonde woman wearing ragged clothes and patchwork armor asked the locals, the travelers, the caravans and the bartender if anyone was hiring.
She was turned down as usual, so she resigned herself to another grueling day of scavenging for whatever she could find.
As she made her final preparations, she noticed a young woman gawking at the deteriorating infrastructure of the town.
She wore a white dress, heeled boots, and a black hat with peaches on the side.
Her long blue hair billowed about in the breeze.
Analina was struck with curiosity. She had never seen anyone dressed so finely or appear so clean.
There was an air of elegance that was a cut above the nobility of the struggling kingdoms of the world.
It was as if this newcomer was from another world altogether.
"Hello there!" she called out as she approached the stranger.
"You look lost. Is everything okay?"
"It's hard to be lost when you don't know where you are in the first place!" the stranger complained.
"No, I'm looking for something. You haven't by chance seen the Sword of Hisou?
It's about this big and it has an orange blade."
She gestured with her hands to demonstrate the size of her lost sword.
"I definitely would know if I saw something like that," Analina replied.
"I can't imagine something so valuable being left in the dirt. Even if it was, the continent is simply too large to search by yourself."
She mulled the problem over in her mind, trying to figure out something that might help, but to no avail.
"Tell you what: I'm actually planning to travel again once I save enough money for supplies.
If you like, we can travel together. It'll be a lot easier than just wandering around on your own."
A lightbulb went of in the stranger's head.
"Now there's an idea! With a Celestial by your side, there's no way you can fail."
She grabbed Analina's wrist and slammed a fistful of coins into her hand.
"...What's this for?" Analina asked. The stranger smirked. "Your hiring fee, of course!"
Analina did a double take. "Hiring wh--! But I was going--"
"Yes, yes, you're welcome," Tenshi interrupted, patting Analina's shoulder.
"Now you get to serve under the greatest Celestial in all of heaven! So, where to first?"
Tenshi groaned as she swung the pickaxe for the umpteenth time.
"This wasn't what I had in mind when you signed on with me..."
"I told you I needed money first. This is one of the more reliable ways of doing it," Analina said as she shoved yet another chunk of iron ore into her backpack.
"Metal ore is valuable in these parts. We can make nearly a thousand Cats per trip if we collect enough."
"Ugh, a Celestial mining for food. Even after five trips it still isn't enough."
Tenshi wiped the sweat from her brow as she looked at the barren landscape around her.
Herself and Analina had been mining for the entire day nonstop and selling their findings once the latter had deemed their labor satisfactory.
Even then, their earnings were paltry sums at best.
"We've been doing well today," Analina said as she helped Tenshi with the last of the ore.
"After we sell this, we should have over three thousand Cats total. Just enough for us to have enough food and medical supplies for a while."
Tenshi couldn't have cared any less about it. She was eager to finally be rid of this place and find greener pastures after a good night's sleep.
