Hello! I'd like to let you know I've never written a fanfiction before, or anything with dialogue for that matter. I wanted to write some kind of little story where a random human is spirited away to Gensokyo, and just wrote what came to mind first! If characters don't act how you'd expect them to, uh, sorry! I'm not real good at this type of thing yet.
The story is going to follow Chiharu Isono, a human forgotten by the world and herself, as she travels around Gensokyo in hopes of finding purpose! This episode, she wakes up in the Bamboo Forest of the Lost and "meets" Mystia Lorelei!
Please feel free to give me criticism!

Running.

It's all Chiharu could remember from the last few minutes of her life.

One moment she was walking down her favorite mountain trail in the middle of a cloudy day, and the next she awoke a night in a vast forest of bamboo to the beautiful sound of a songbird from somewhere in the branches.

Well it was beautiful at first.

It didn't take long for Chiharu to begin feeling strange. It was as if the already unfathomably tall bamboo plants were growing far taller into the night sky; either that or the night sky seemed to be descending upon her. Whichever it was however didn't quite matter to her at the time, as at that point all she could do was run. As fast as she could she threw herself into a sprint, dodging bamboo as it seemed to almost walk into her path. She was sure she heard the song getting closer.
Swoosh~
She felt air rush by her quickly, and felt a searing pain in her shoulder. Putting her hand to the wound, she pulled it back horrified to see it stained a deep red.
Crash~!
Suddenly, she was on the ground; she could hardly see what was standing over her.
"Please..." Chiharu whispered. "Please don't hurt me..."
"Sorry... But I have to eat somehow!" The voice said softly, but with a laugh that Chiharu felt mocked her. She grabbed her backpack and held it above her head just as a claw swept down; the bag breaks open, and all of Chiharu's belongings disperse onto the ground. Quickly, she grabs around for the first thing, and hold it up in self defense...
Silence...
"What is that?" The assailant spoke with a genuine curiosity... Not entirely sure what she was holding, Chiharu opened her eyes, clearly seeing the figure above her. It was a woman with wings and sharp talons, wearing a rather ornate dress... Looking at what she was holding revealed-
"Um... A megaphone?" She almost trips over her words. Just a second ago she was being attacked but... "It... Um... Makes your voice louder, you know?"
The bird woman's eyes grew what Chiharu could only imagine was fifty times larger, as she snatched the microphone from Chiharu's shaking hands.
"How does it work!?" She yelled at the top of her lungs. Realizing something, Chiharu moved slightly out from under the woman.
"I'll... I'll tell you if you don't eat me!"
The woman seemed to look at Chiharu in surprise, then an excited wide smile crossed her face.
"Yeah! Yeah whatever you say, just tell me!"
Chiharu took the megaphone from her claws and dug around in the mess on the ground until she found what she was looking for. She always enjoyed carrying this old thing with her; she found it in a garbage dump years ago and rigged it to a solar panel so it could work. Turning it on, she handed it back.
"Chin... Chin..." The same song as before, but blasted through the speaker of the electric megaphone it was extremely loud. Suddenly Chiharu is embraced by...
"Mystia! I'm Mystia Lorelei! Oh, thank you so much! Imagine how many people will be able to hear my song now; this is even louder than the band's speaker system!"
After what felt like an eternity to Chiharu, Mystia put her down. They stood there in silence for a second until Chiharu completely broke down sobbing. Shocked, Mystia looked around frantically before remembering there was no one else around to help with the situation.
"Hey... It's okay, I won't eat you okay? Promise!" Mystia puts her hand on the girl's shoulder, where she feels the blood seeping out of it.
"Oh, I'm so sorry I forgot I hit you! Um... Here!" She rips a part of her dress and uses it to bandage the wound of the still sobbing Chiharu, now laying on the ground mumbling to herself. Mystia, completely bewildered on what to do, sits on the ground next to her a begins to sing softly. The poor human quickly passes out, whether due to exhaustion, blood loss, or her song, Mystia is unsure, but she picks up Chiharu anyway and flies away with her.

Episode 2! I'm glad there's a place I can post these. I'm mostly doing it as a way to practice my dialogue and writing in general, and as a way to explore the world of touhou a little more! Makes me do a bit more research into all the characters and worldbuilding and stuff!

"Goodness Mystia... You really did a number on her!"
"Hey! It's not like I meant to!"
"You were trying to eat her..."
"Oh, right... Oopsie~"

Chiarhu stirred in her sleep hearing the voices talking around her, her eyes beginning to flutter slightly.

"But to be fair, it's her own fault for being a human in the forest of the lost! That's where people get lost, it's in the name!"
A silence befalls the room...
"She's right behind me isn't she..."
Just in time to see the rather humorous scene, Chiharu opens her eyes, watching as Mystia is dragged away by the ear by a woman with long, purple and yellow hair. Taking a moment to sit up and take in her surroundings, she sees shes in what looks like an old temple, like what she might have seen in her favorite anime. Standing by her bed watching the commotion is a girl in a rather simple dress holding a bamboo broom. The girl looks down and jumps upon seeing Chiharu awake.
"Eek!" She screams extremely loudly as she jumps backwards, clearly startled, before regaining her composure. "Oh! Oh, you're awake! Hold on I'll go get Byakuren!"
The girl skips out and bumps directly into someone, and falls to the ground.
"Ow..."
"Calm down Kyouko, you're going to wake up the entire village with that noise." The same person that pulled Mystia out the door stands in the doorway as "Kyouko" stands up and bows repeatedly before running out the door.
"Oh... She didn't have to be so sorry."
Chiharu, watching all this with great confusion, tries to speak.
"Um... Excuse me... Miss Byakuren?" She hopes she got the name right. "Where am I? Who are those people? Why did that Mystia girl try to eat me earlier?"
Byakuren sits down on her knees beside where Chiharu was sleeping.
"Don't worry, I'll explain everything." She puts a finger on her chin, as if trying to think of how to word what she's about to say.
"This is the Myouren Temple in Gensokyo. A place where humans and youkai alike come to practice Buddhism. I'm the chief priest here, Byakuren Hijiri. That youkai Mystia brought you here last night after you fainted."
Chiharu is barely understanding any of this. Youkai? Gensokyo? She knows about youkai of course, but was under the assumption that they were just stories from a long time ago. That's what anyone would believe right? But... The bird lady she saw last night certainly wasn't human. She must have been some kind of youkai. If that's the case, then...
"Miss?" Byakuren snaps Chiharu out of her overthinking.
"Oh! Sorry... It's just a lot to take in. You said youkai right? I always thought youkai were just stories."
"Youkai roamed the outside world freely many years ago, but nowadays you can almost only find them here in Gensokyo, as well as some other places. I suppose in that way they are just a story."
"And what is Gensokyo? I've never seen it on a map before."
"It's a place that was sealed away from the rest of the outside world long ago. For the most part, nothing gets in or out unless it goes through the Hakurei Shrine or the youkai of the barrier wills it. Which begs the question, how did you end up here?" Byakuren waits for an answer, before it dawns on her that it's unlikely that this human has any idea how she got here in the first place.
"Nevermind that... What's your name?"
"Chiharu Isono." She whispers, signalling that she's still afraid of whatever is going on.
"It's okay, you're under my protection here. You can stay as long as you'd like! However, since you'd probably like to go home, you should try to make your way to the Hakurei Shrine at some point. The shrine maiden there should be able to help you."
