Concealed in the mountains surrounding the Lake of Blood is the Castle of Unending Starlight, ruled by the Chivalrous Vampire Queen Angelina. It is unclear when the queen and her court had arrived in Gensokyo, but what is known is that she had ruled the small patch of land that had become her kingdom for five centuries.
Unlike most vampires, she doesn't see humans as food. Instead, she considers them equal subjects like her vampiric citizens.

Angelina had always been fascinated with knighthood since her youth.
Her father had been a prominent knight before becoming king, passing down the teachings of chivalry to her so that she may teach her descendants if he couldn't.
One day, she met a Vampire king who had long ruled his own kingdom in the shadows.
The pair married once they discovered their mutual compassion for humans and elected to save as many as they could.

Before the couple could put their plan into effect, the Castle of Unending Starlight was whisked away to Gensokyo.
Angelina lamented their luck until she saw the horrors the humans suffered firsthand.
With only her trusted rapier in hand, she brought the local vampires to heel and extended her protection to any human that accepted her as their queen.

Soon the kingdom as it came to be was formed with vampires and humans living in harmony.
All was peaceful until Angelina's husband was nearly struck down by a powerful being.
Sources debate who the perpetrator was, but all agreed that the king barely survived and disappeared soon after.

Angelina rules the kingdom alone, recruiting any vampire or human who wanted to live free from Gensokyo's dangers.

Angelina's preferred combat method is a mix of danmaku and fencing.
One served as a distraction while she struck with the other. This method is direct, but sacrifices the ability to create complex patterns.
