Hello. The fanworks you have imported are great and rare. Feel free to upload any fanwork you want on Moriya Shrine.

I will add the books to the list when you upload them.

Updated my original post with links to scans of the NEW HORI-ZUN books.

Also, I have just discovered the existence of NEW HORI-ZUN 9. According to KirbyM's C77 post, this book was a preview version of NEW HORI-ZUN 1 with the addition of scribbled on notes and pictures by Marisa. This book was given out for free at C77 for those who brought NEW HORI-ZUN 1. It also appears that the C77 distribution was the only distribution for this book which seems valid as a bonus for those brought NEW HORI-ZUN 1.

This also means that this NEW HORI-ZUN book can be considered "lost media" in the purest sense since there were no reprints for this book. There are some online secondhand listings for the book, but it appears they are all out of stock. Good luck to anyone who can track this book down.

Thank you very much for the books and for this information. Everything is added.

Apparently, I am on a roll with my research as I have just accidently found all of Distant Union works in one fell swoop.

This is the link: https://doublepuma.com/doujin/

As for how I came across this link... I started by putting random words into Google like site:tumblr.com "touhou" pdf. I noticed the askudonge tumblr account and clicked on the link since its Google description said "But it's now a free pdf!". It turns out this is a pdf of Raiders of the Lost Ask Box, and I was about to click off of the pdf since that fan book was already uploaded on Lina's Art Gallery.

But then I saw the url: https://doublepuma.com/doujin/raiders.pdf

I asked myself: How could doublepuma.com still exist? I thought that website was unavailable?

Of course, I now know that I was confusing doublepuma.com with doublepuma.bigcartel.com. But I didn't fix my mistake there as I soon saw that the url looked like a web directory, so I decided to up in the directory by removing the pdf part from the url.

DistantUnionHomePage.webp

I certainly did not expect to find the homepage for Distant Union or that every single work of Distant Union could be downloaded as a pdf straight from this website.
Fun Fact!

Did you know that my visit was the first Internet Archive crawl into the page? I would know since I run the Internet Archive extension to save pages that don't have an archive for this exact reason. This led me to believe that no one from Distant Union ever actually posted the link, since the front page for doublepuma.com just leads links of Lina Ciari's works, that haven't been updated since 2020. No one would naturally find doublepuma.com/doujin without someone linking them naturally to this part of the website. So I did another google search for "doublepuma.com" to check on how people were posting links to this website.

Did you know that that Plus on Block, another Touhou work by Lina Ciari, was featured on the 26th broadcast of Touhou Station? Found that one because it was submitted with the link: https://doublepuma.com/doujin/pobdigital.pdf

Also, a moral of this search is to always use a Nitter instance as a part of the internet research process. It turns out that Lina Ciari already posted a pdf link to The Gensokyo Menagerie Vol. 1 on their Twitter account this entire time. It was the only Distant Union doujinshi that got posted publicly so this search was not a total waste, but it is a reminder to always look into Twitter as people post on that social platform far more than any where else.

Great research! Links are added.
It is really interesting that Touhou Station mentioned them.
Yes, Nitter is really useful, I use it a lot.

The search features of Nitter are invaluable. Goodness me, how I wished to have Nitter become active again when I decided to look into the development of Kubinashi Recollection.

But anyway, I been looking at your Lost Media list @vanyk, and I think some formatting changes is needed.

Rediscovered lost media can be separated to its own category. If one of the goals of this thread is to find lost media, then it should be easy to look at the Lost Media list and figure out which lost media needs research.

My other concern is the inclusion of  日陰サバイバン (Phoenix Wright x Touhou game) or as HakanaiBlue's English translation calls it, Shady Trial. I can't see how this work be considered lost media since it can be easily be found on DLsite, which is also the main method HakanaiBlue recommends to buy the game. Simply put, I don't see how this media could be considered lost at any point in time.

Yes, but Nitter should not be that noticeable not to get Twitter's devs attention (so they would not try to break it again)

Great idea. I changed some formatting. Do you have suggestions how to make it better?

I meant that Mega link to non-paid version is lost. If you think that such media shouldn't be added to lost media, I can remove it.

The biggest issue facing the readability of the Lost Media List is inconsistent formatting. Pick a single format, and readability shall increase.

Here my visual design of my suggestions.

Yeah, remove that entry. Money isn't really really what I think of Lost Media. Lost Media should be about media that are hard to access or have little public records. In fact, let me go talk about two pieces of Touhou lost media.

こころ劇場 (Kokoro Gekijo) by NullPointerWorks

Game Website: http://nullpointerworks.blog.fc2.com/

NicoNico Trailer: https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm36115333

A boss rush game featuring Kokoro as the main character while performing in front of an audience. There doesn't appear to be much public footage left online since everyone did not save their NicoNico livesteam playthroughs, through people on Twitter did post screenshots and their feedback. However, it appears this that NullPointerWorks did not consign this game digitally though sites like DLsite, thus this game has become hard to obtain without getting a physical disc.

Lost & Found by Miluda

Sample: https://web.archive.org/web/20171004143155/https://prismi.ca/

Featuring English lyrics, this is the only doujin music released by Miluda. There have not been any reprints of the single, so this sample online currently remains as the only public way to listen to the single.

Added.
Thank you for your suggestions. Is the formatting better now?

I found the disc that has the game, I will try to buy it and add it here
Good to hear.
Did I understand that correctly that the disc has not only this game?

Yes! The formatting looks better, but I still have more critiques.

Description should be separate from titles.

Take a look at this part of the Lost Media List:

www.gensokyo.org (This site just disappeared with all staff. One of the translators tried to contact them but there was no reply (source: https://arcrenciel.wordpress.com/2019/10/24/the-melancholy-of-snow-white-translated-and-about-the-future/ ))
Rei Links (What did happen? It was Reimu 17.5 then for a few months it was Reisen Sakurajima and then it became Rei Links)
Now, here is my take on it (pretend line spacing is single, since Moriya Shrine's text editor doesn't appear to have a way to change line spacing.)

www.gensokyo.org

Rei Links

Feels must easier to tell which information is going to for each entry.

We should also fix the capitalization for the headers such as "Lost found other media". It should be "Lost Other Media" which not only follows standard English capitalization rules, but also makes the headers look different from description.

Aside from these suggestions, just more consistent formatting needs to be applied to the rest of the list. Otherwise, good work with working to include format work with the list. Presentation of information is as important as the information itself!

Well at one point I think I had a copy of Corrupted Memory on my old HDD that was used in my first PC which sadly the disk of that drive shattered. At least I think I had it as the video looks just like what it was like to play.

I might of had it on a USB I have lying around but don't get your hopes up

Edit: I do however have a song called "Terrible Mixing" that is instrumental cover of Last Remote if you are interested in that as I can't seem to find anything on it

Edit 2:

  • Found Miracle in Gensokyo's upload of Touhou 東方 PV - Last Remote (multilanguage subs) with the English subs I download years ago
  • A higher quality version of this video on my PC that I use to test my server connections
  • The full album of KoishiSubterranean (Not Fragments) which you may know a song from it from the ending of KKHTA

So I have these as well if you are also interested

Everything sounds interesting. I will add them to the list if you upload them here.
