I haven't ever played StB, but I have for ISC, and despite it being difficult, I do quite like it's mechanics and the game's story is interesting.

Impossible Spell Card in my opinion is the best Photography game of all Touhou. It's like a puzzle you can cheese, where for other ones, you actually have to show skill to even pass the starting days as that is the only tool in your possession. It's fun though, I've cleared all stages except for final day. Hopefully next Photography game will be as beautiful as the Impossible Spell Card.

The only photo games I've played is Double Spoiler, it was somewhat fun despite the infuriating challenge and fixed difficulty. I do hope that the reception of Violet Detector doesn't mark the end for these types of games.
