Touhou Troubleshooting (Mainline+Spinoff)

I have looked into that and while it sounds like it can work the problem out it would be a coin toss cause i never had to install anything like that the first time around and because even a fresh download does not work. I will post the error that I have a Exception C0000005 at 0x688FF94D (Rx4F94D) (\d3d8.dll) and The instruction at 0x688FF94D referenced memory at 0x00000014. The memory could not be read. along with alot of stuff in the code that aren't found ( which I don't know if thats normal or not ) with this I can hope this will give a clue as to what the problem is and tbh idk if a locale can be a fix to an error like that cause with what I had before and with past experience with the game I downloaded at the beginning of the year working before not working after not having played it for a long while and I'm not to sure what I can do beyond just trying and seeing if something works tho I rather not have to spend 2 to 3 hours trying before I'm left with a headache I do thank you for whatever guidence you give it does help even a little bit.
 
Update: I actually fixed the problem it took a two files put together which was a putting a d3dx8 and a dxvk in the touhou 6 folder to make it work so you don't need to worry about my issue I still do really thank you for making a troubleshooting thread as it's a source for asking if all else fails.
 
Hey uh so same story as the last one but it's touhou 7 however the game starts up but the graphics are glitched just like swordofbunkerhill had at page 6 of this thread again I'm at a wits end and I do not know what to do. ( Also I do wanna address I'm in the process of making sure the early games still work after hearing that if not played for a long while theses games get messed up and because of this I'm applying these solutions to hopefully safeguard them for future play. )

I believe DXVK or d3d8to9 "should" fix that graphics issue. Just in case, if you're applying DXVK, you should use the 32-bit version for Touhou 7. With DXVK, you'll need to include both the d3d8 and d3d9 DLL if I recall correctly.
 
i recently got a windows xp machine and installed IN off my original disc and installed japanese locals, but most of the graphics arent displaying at all
it shows the initial loading background with no loading wheel, and then the title screen with no selection text. i can navigate to start a game, but it just keeps showing the menu backgrounds.
i can hear the game running still, but it just gets stuck displaying the menu backgrounds. is this a directx issue or something else?
 
hello! I'm having this problem recently. Whenever i open th15 it's glitching like this, i haven't tried th11-14 and th16+ further but i didnt have this issue when i play th6-10. Any helps? Thanks!

Yo, that's bonkers. But I have some ideas.
Our downloads don't include vpatch by default for th11 and onwards, so I wonder if your issue is something vpatch would fix. Touhouwiki has a download for the patches here at the beginning of the column, at "Download." Copying the link myself, it links here. You could try applying it to see if it solves it. From the vpatch_th15 folder, you'll need to put vpatch.exe, vpatch.ini, and vpatch_th15.dll into your game folder (where the game executable should be). Then you could try running vpatch.exe directly. To make it work with thcrap, you'd need to go into the thcrap folder, config, games.js, and edit the first thing to vpatch.exe instead of something like th15.exe.

Another thing that I think might fix it is applying DXVK, or reinstalling DirectX. Putting the game in windowed mode might also work.
