Touhou 20 OSTs possibly being removed from YouTube

No Account Name Idea

is this the thing that replaces (Onshi)?
Hello to anyone reading this.

I haven't seen anything on the Touhou 20 (Touhou Kinjoukyou ~ Fossilized Wonders) OST specifically here. I have not personally listened to it. I have heard on YouTube that those videos are going to be removed for legal and copyright related reasons. I am not sure why this would happen now, but compared to OSTs for previous mainline Touhou games, this seems unexpected.

Thank you for reading.

This is wildly unexpected and doesn't seem legal. I'm curious to see how this develops.

as of now they all seem to still be up.
Not for long.
Kafuu Hearn's chennel is already dead: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzslL2rMj-Ojm4wWUubmVrw

The screenshot from his commutity post (I didn't save the post itself)

EDIT: found these images on thcrap server:

EDIT 3: the situation with Kafuu Hearn is even worse, because Touhou 19 tracks were struck too

wearr's channel is still alive, but not for long:
Community post: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB...unity?lb=UgkxGMS7BtodbEH_Pua55JS8pCs0Sf6xPhlb
Posts on Twitter about that:

Somebody That Nobody Likes:

There were some extended versions on Youtube, but they are down (I don't remember, who uploaded them).
Edit: it was Piwix: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHQFQpPJTbkAQ78XioY-xUQ
One of the examples:

EDIT 2: (information and screenshot from FnC) it looks like Ruw also takes down fanmade tracks which have "東方錦上京 〜 Fossilized Wonders" in their titles:

Technically Ruw warned that he didn't like such things.
In the first place, it violates the prohibited item in the guidelines, "Content that may lead to the misunderstanding that it is official content of the Touhou Project"...
Before I thought that he won't make serious actions against that in such near future (because he didn't do that before), but I was wrong.
Edit 5: the removed fanmade track: Web Archive:

Some information from maceknight:

Edit 4: Japanese uploaders are targeted too:

Edit 6: Rokko's Extensions removed all Touhou music videos:

Edit 7: everything gets much worse.
You cannot use UDoALG ost in videos anymore: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo...unity?lb=UgkxYwfgodtsQfeSOAF9Jmy8RpBupmJ7bBNT

Another dead channel
Mima's Disciple (empty): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcM3qKyS_BgjaYybq2YKCAA/videos

Also there is a Reddit post like this:

Edit 8: Ruw retweeted the following posts:

It is the time for defense!

Edit 9: HBM and UDoALG osts (videos with these osts are striked) were uploaded on Apple Music:
And on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYiYZYbDlyy17QiX5CxCTeQ

But TSA didn't have problems with UM ost, when it was added on Apple Music:

yikes, guess every week a new drama related to touhou 20 will pop up, interested to see the end of the line tbh

Drama helps get the news out, silver lining?
For now dramas are mostly related to Western fandom (not only Western, I will add an edit soon (edit: already added)), so I don't think it really helps. I am afraid, more and more people from the West would like Touhou less because of that.

Prolly, but it wouldent shock me in the least that some people will get curious.

Keep in mind that it's also the Japanese who were targeted. Touhou is the face of doujin culture, if such thing is happening like right now, it puts ZUN in the question on why would he hire someone like Ruw in the first place.

The problem is that such uploads are not very legal and they always were on grey zone, so the Japanese uploaders understand why it was removed. I haven't seen a lot of talks about that in Japanese community (if you found some, please, send them). Giving more information about this to Japanese fans might be a good idea (but I don't know how to explain this in a good way, so we won't get "if ZUN/Ruw did this, then it was a right thing to do").
He hired Ruw so many years ago and he didn't do things like that back then. And it seems like now ZUN cannot to dismiss Ruw without serious consequences.

You wouldn't find it out there much; there are a few statements here and there from some users, but never the named ones. I presume it's to avoid a libel lawsuit, which is kind of a big deal in Japan because iirc practically anything negative you say there or portray can be used as fuel for libel.

There's also the factor that a lot of them are fans of ZUN to begin with, and even in this very thread you have people opting not to blame ZUN and only his lawyer, as if that's how everything works when the lawyer legally represents Team Shanghai Alice, his Doujin Circle.

If it were only the OSTs being removed, I'd understand, but it seems Oyamada-san is too trigger happy anyway, and in his wake plus previous takedowns anything that keyword-matched was copyright struck.

As such, it feels like certain parts of the rules are being interpreted differently to suit his needs and avoid further legal conflicts, e.g. Alex's prediction tracks apparently qualifying as falsely-representing the game. You know what this means: Siivagunner is ripe for the copyright strikes too. That is, if he realizes.

Yeah, it is like that.

Yes, they are fans of ZUN, and yes they are opting opting to blame Ruw. But de-jure Ruw is not a representative of TSA, but Korindo Co. Ldt. and Mediascape (not Doujin part of activities).

Even the first thing is questionable (because the demo is free), but other takedowns are really weird.

The first problem is that "guidelines" =/= "rules". The second problem is that the guidelines may be interpreted very differently, what can lead to problems.
You know what this means: Siivagunner is ripe for the copyright strikes too.
Yes, it is bad too.

isn't the point that it's scummy to completely delete them rather than claiming the ad revenue from those uploads, like "money from ad revenue of youtube videos isn't enough for us, if you want to listen to the OST you need to buy the game and listen in the music room, and we don't care if that's inconvenient"

It looks like to Ruw copyright things are copyright things, so there shouldn't be copyright violation.
I didn't knew that Youtube has such thing, I don't know if anyone who is responsible for Touhou copyrights on Youtube knows (wants to know) about suvh thing.

this feels so weird, even more knowing ZUN's use of AI recently. i fear the route Touhou may take in the future relating to community-based content

If you have any more evidences of fanmade content which was hit (like fanmade ost, MMD, etc.), please send it in this thread (if you don't want to post them here for any reasons, you can DM me here or on MotK). Thank you.
