Torm don't ever do that again

I thought it was a joke but I had no way to prove it. The uncertainty lingered but I remained with my convictions.
Absolutely loved the joke. It could've lasted for a bit more to make everyone even more uneasy, but that was already good.
I had a blast yesterday because of it. Well played, and thanks for everything!

when i saw the whois of the site team-shan... created 31 march, nahh this their april haha... but when i saw it extended and redirect to the an official site, i just got the flashback of the FBI when it took over the MEGA site and redirect its domain, haha, and all the crowd in the server even the staff playing the game, i really started to suspect was real, till the moment reisen started to told us of the handed over of the domain and they dont hace access not even to where the site is located and bla bla, at that moment i really thought was real, i just got a real headache at the left part of my brain at the end of the day... you owe me all an ibuprofen and a hot tea because of this... but you all really make a good one haha

My question is "What's the joke here?", and the answer will be always "Who cares? It's April" and laughs about it without caring the fact that it ruin other people's mood. I'll be real for ya, I think you have taken too far with this one.

There's a reason I've been avoiding everything about April because everyone would just took too much effort for a joke that will make people feel annihilate with all of this, and this is one of them. Worse yet, it wasn't even on April 1st when the news is spread, so you just be scaring people for days at something that is meaningful to them.

What I'm saying is that you should be aware about your reputation. One day, you won't be forgiven and no one likes using the site anymore. It's a warning for you.
yeah honestly there's part of me that's pretty mad but it's mostly overridden by the part of me that's relieved
Everyone's stressed out about external things, and we lost Myrient over the last month too.

Where it really went wrong honestly was when it rolled over to Thursday, with a redirect to an official page. If not for that, it probably would have been received better.
But from my perspective, I only come here occasionally to lurk and grab things. I only witnessed the part that looked legit. Found out through the grapevine that it was down. I had a suspicion something was up but couldn't place it. I'd honestly accepted it pretty quick.

I'm not gonna demand an apology or anything but... yeah. The tone of the response did sting a little bit.

The relief still wins out. I got high school memories tied up in here.

yeah i agree. i was genuinely stressed out and sad over it. my account on here might be a few months old but i fr did lurk on here for over a decade. this site means a lot for me and other Touhou fans and it introduced a lot of people, including me, to the official games and tons of fan games out there. i just wanna say thank you for your services over the years and i hope to see the site still active for more decades to come. (as for zun, if he sees this of course, please officially translate the Touhou games in english. you'll reach a bigger western audience with official english translations. also p.s: a lot of Touhou fans want the official Touhou games ported over the Switch consoles and PS5 so would be nice to see them rereleased over there one day). anyways, i'm glad that the site is back. it not only provides a bunch of downloadable content but also advice and discussions of different Touhou related topics out there which i enjoy as well (the posts range from useful to fun thinking pieces).

and no one likes using the site anymore.
You meant to say this in a future tense or something? I feel like this entire thread goes against this portion, after all basically everyone who posted in this thread seemed pretty worried about the site's status.

Please do NOT do that ever again🙏
You genuinely got my whole friend group

This is legitimately the worst kind of prank and a big reason why I loathe that day every year.
It's not funny, it causes turmoil within the community, and it extended way beyond when it should have. There was no point beyond being mean here.
Fuck me, some of you people need to lighten up. If you're getting that bent out of shape over a piracy/shitposting site, then it might not be the best place for you.

Good show from the admins, you had me going for a split-second yesterday when everything didn't go back to normal. It's a bit cheesy, but it's times like these when you really learn to cherish the things you take for granted. To quote Yukari from Osana Reimu, "Happiness disappears in a flash".

You don't get to tell me how I feel about this.
Indeed he doesn't. But to get overly angry over a literal prank which biggest stake was to "make some people nervous" is a sign of poor control over your own emotions. I do not say this to mock you, yet as an attempt to make anyone who got livid to get a better grip in life.

Yeah sure you can be mad because they got you good. Defeat is even more frustrating when we care about the outcome. I've been there too.
So yeah, he's right. Lighten up, give it a good laugh, and move on.

A site takedown is the laziest and worst "prank" you could do. There's nothing really funny about it, you either upset a lot of people or inconvenience others that want to download something. Of course people would legit panic at the event of a Touhou site that has archives of the games, fangames and OSTs is gone. Myrient being shutdown also fueled this understandable fear that much of Touhou's content is now lost forever. Really careless of this site to shutdown while that was going on.

Well at least we got you all good, makes me happy seeing you all give a damn about this little website.
The opposition's tweets are very funny though, even if it's filled with fake interest.

I think it's valid to get angry. I'm also a bit angry, as I don't find the joke funny. Just because it was a fake, it doesn't make it funny. I guess what we can learn from this is to not trust the leadership, especially near april, and connect with people we see as worthy.
Fuck you guys.

You said it better than I would have put it. Cheers, mate.

made an account just to give my two cents: i think websites or services of any kind shouldn't actively hamper functionality or even shut off completely for an april fool's joke. i understand wanting to celebrate it, but there's so many other ways to celebrate april 1st and making people's lives actively harder, no matter how miniscule or not-so-miniscule of an effect that may be, is just not the way to go. people expect to be able to use a service, and if they can't, some are bound to get upset, which i can't blame anyone for doing so, honestly.

with that said, to some people i talk to, this has given out the signal that moriya shrine isn't a reliable source anymore. damned shame considering this site is how i got into touhou games in the first place god knows how long ago, around when ddc came out

If people get mad over not being able to access free downloads on a free site for two days, then they need to go and touch grass. And if they decide not to use the site anymore because they feel it's 'not reliable or cool', then more power to them; less whining and nonsense to deal with on our end.
