Hello all,

I wanted to say a few words about contests and events in general.

Every so often we run events or small contests to boost engagement, encourage people to try new things, and bring the community together. They’re always planned with good intentions, but lately they haven’t been getting the level of participation we hoped for.

To be honest, it’s getting discouraging. It feels like no matter what event or contest we come up with, hardly anyone takes part. At that point, it’s hard not to ask: why bother?

That’s where I’m at right now.

I wanted to celebrate the release of the remake, so I figured, why not hold a contest where players could show off their skills, go for the highest score, and maybe win a little cash? So I did. Almost two months in, only 6 players have entered, out of the thousands of people who visit the site. That’s a real bummer.

I’ve always loved this community. I love seeing people engage, and I’ve always enjoyed doing things for everyone, no matter the cost. But it looks like that may not be the case going forward.

The current contest ends on November 11. If no new entries come in by then, I’ll most likely cancel it entirely.

It’s also made me rethink whether I should continue this project at all. For the longest time, I never cared about the cost of running this place because the community was worth it. But if people are no longer interested in the extra things we do, what’s the point? Those extras are the main thing that has kept me from walking away.

For now, I’ll let the NC contest run its course. If nothing changes, I’ll cancel it and take some time to rethink what to do with Moriya Shrine as a whole.

We’ll see.
