Playing danmaku the original way

I've always wanted to play touhou or danmaku games on an actual arcade casket. But now a days people play that stuff at home so I'm not sure if they keep traditional ones around, especially in scotland where there's nothing for any of my hobbies ;-;

You can always build an arcade machine yourself. They are pretty easy to actually put together as far as I know, granted you have the money to blow on it.

I'm not sure the Touhou games were ever made on arcade machines (unless you're talking about modifying one to be able to play a Touhou game on it). I've seen many arcade machines over where I live since I was young. Both my Daddy and Mama also lived during the golden age of arcade games, so they played on them when they were younger (besides Stardew Valley recently, the ONLY games my Mama ever played were arcade games).
Well anyway, it would be very cool to see and play a Touhou game on an actual arcade machine.

That sort of thing would probably be easier said than done, but then again, I'm no expert when it comes to electronics.

I'm sure majority of toehoe games were designed with windows in mind, only arcade ones i can think of are FDF exa (ew, exa... Well, at least they dealt blow to mame cv1k emulation, so that's great)

As for arcade games, you can probably go with lagless fbneo setup, all while using some cheap arcade stick (i heard one from 8bitdo is decent) with vertical monitor. As i don't think that you may want to preserve latency of original hardware (such as garegga PCBs with 3-4 frames of lag depending on CPU usage, or batrider, or some Psikyo PCBs), i suggest looking into my guide on low latency shmups inside Retroarch's FinalBurn Neo Core, has decent amount of popular titles with few obscure games i know:

yea. as far as i know they were made for windows so thats how they're intended to be played

If you ever venture to Japan, they actually have some of the danmaku fangames in legitimate arcade cabinets. GiGO Building 3 in Akihabara has ones for Scarlet Diabolique Fantastica and Perfect Sakura Fantastica, though I couldn't get either machine to work during my time there unfortunately.
