I'm just your average-ish Touhou fan. I discovered the old Moriya Shrine webiste on a YT video's comment section this August; I've been a Touhou fan since ~2014, but never really bothered downloading and playing the games because I wasn't keen on digging through obscure sites and searching for torrent mirror magnets for installers for downloaders for zip files of translations for zip files of games... well, you get the idea. Having read about the website then, I gave it a try and... neatly-packed, ready-to-install, translated, single-download links? PRAISETH BE THE MORIYA SHRINE

And then the old website went down a couple months ago. ._. I thought it was the end of it ("Why the heck are there mobile app ads in this link? Where's the Shrine!?"), but Google showed me the new domain, and now that there's a forum up... might as well. Always nice to have a new forum to visit (and always the same awkward moment of introduction!)

I don't have many months of danmaku experience, so, well... I'm a noob. I'm digging through the games in order, starting with EoSD, but so far I could only 1CC Perfect Cherry Blossom and Imperishable Night... on easy modo. ;-; given how I'm aiming to at least get a satisfactory ending on each game (except EoSD, Patchy takes my lives and Sakuya's been making me continue on Normal) before downloading the next, and I'm currently trying to 1CC IN Normal, it might be Touhou 18 by the time I catch up. However, I really love that Touhou games are very challenging and not merely hard; I can feel the improvements, I can evade a few more patterns with each try, I refine my grazing and bomb usage... each death is indeed by my own mistake, poor reaction speed, lack of knowledge about a bullet pattern, or even loss of focus. It's been so long since I've had such a fun challenge in a game, as it's fundamentally fair in every death (I'll reserve judgement for LoLK to see if it lives up to the meme lol).

That aside, a few curious tidbits about me that nobody really cares about:

- I am terrible at making names for anything. Usernames at other forums, Steam, PSN, created characters in games, anything. I fancy myself a rather creative person, but not for names, for whatever reason.

- I'm Brazilian! There are absolutely not enough Touhou fans here, though, which sucks. Feel free to ask me about anything you'd like to know about this pit of madmen.

It's fine man, don't panic.  No one would be mad at you for introducing yourself.

Nothing wrong with not being an expert at the games either.  I've been around the Shrine for years, and I'm still not that good at the games.

I had no idea if we were gonna have individual threads for each introduction, or a single one for everyone to post their introductions on, since there aren't any specific guidelines yet. Still, better safe than sorry.

And yeah, despite the community's memes, I understand that there's nothing wrong with sucking at Touhou (heck, the wikinet tips on how to play specifically tells you to disregard people who egg on your for playing on Easy or dying a lot and all), but you simply don't have a real grasp on how the gameplay is, just by looking at videos. When I downloaded EoSD, I kept getting shot in the face by fairies until I got the hang of movement and speed, and suddenly I understood why people get stuck even on Normal. Pratice makes perfect, though, and I'm eager to get these 1CCs because I know I can get them, I just need dedication and a bit of luck.
