How Long Have You Been in the Fandom?

I'd like to know how long some of y'all have been involved in the fandom, because I see lots of content that's been around long before I was born! Personally, I've been interested for around two years, starting during the fall of 2022. Anyways, when did y'all first discover Touhou?

 
I'm the same as you :) Maybe a little longer

I think it's nice that the community is accepting of newcomers, even if they don't play the games.

I agree! This seems to be a very welcoming fandom, maybe because its relatively small? Definitely one of the oldest yet most consistently active fandoms I've ever been involved in! Based on what I've seen, as long as you enjoy Touhou in any form, you're welcome in the fandom, and that's really refreshing to see in today's culture.

I first discovered Touhou through the music as well! I haven't even played any of the games, I just listen to the music and learn about the characters through their themes. Something about it is so addicting.

 
I knew about Touhou for some time, but never chose to interact with anything Touhou related until January or February of this year. At some point I just decided looked deeper into what Touhou was, and downloaded a few games. I really never thought that I'd enjoy a bullet hell.

 
I would honestly not know the answer of exactly when, but I remember that I got into Touhou through the music before Covid. Then I branched out to the games after Covid in I believe it was 2022, and then I joined this forum's consistently laidback energy last year. And now, well, I have firmly planted myself as a regular here, despite the initial hesitation hidden behind theatrically written comments and honest philosophy seeping through the cracks.

 
Three years, I think. I had known about Touhou for a while before jumping down the rabbit hole via the modding scene.
The first official game I played was Lost Word, but I was playing fan games before that.
 
Around January 2025, when I decided that I would draw Fumos in the middle of Algebra. A friend of mine lovingly took my beautiful travesties home and took a picture of some of them in a pile.

Hmmm.....hard to say. I first learned about Touhou when I was 11. I watched this video about Sakuya fighting Dio Brando and really liked the character after watching some shitty fan anime but didn't realize it was a game until I was 15. I then got into it from the ages 15-18 and then forgot about it until now.

like july 2025 but i joined in november 2025
