How do i get better at touhou 🥹

I think all you can really do is be patient and wait until you're good enough. I've played the Touhou games for over a year and a half, and I still have yet to complete most of the games just on easy.
I have mentioned this recently for another newcomer, that I remember seeing a comment on YouTube by a person who mentioned that they got better at the games by seeing the bullets as a sort of "maze", so you might could try doing that if you think it'll help.
And of course, always remember the existence of focus mode (by pressing the shift key).
Otherwise, to reiterate, all you can really do is attempt to get better at the games over time.
It can also help though, if you try your hand at the games once or twice a day, see how far you get, and then try again the next day.
It's a far better (and more healthy) way of getting better at the games than simply going at it over and over.
Also, why did you make this post twice?

Another thing to do is try some of the games which might be better for newcomers. The ones I'd suggest would be Perfect Cherry Blossom, Imperishable Night, Phantasmagoria of Flower View, and Unfinished Dream of All Living Ghost.
The latter two have a match-style gameplay, but they do very well at teaching you the basics of dodging bullets in Touhou.
If you really want to push it, Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom might make for good practice as well due to its Pointdevice system which allows you restart at various checkpoints. The only thing is that you die if you get hit even once in that mode.

@SateriCat17 is right about the common assurance that these games really are just that hard and them requiring a lot of repetition and practice to 1CC them even on normal isn't something going wrong or some weakness on your part but just a necessary process to learn the game. I've come to enjoy the process of learning to 1CC each game.

There are still some common pain points that a new player might hit.

1) I find that new players try to hold on to their bombs too much. If you are regularly dying with bombs left, them you are being too conservative with them. Any death with a bomb left is a bomb wasted. Take it as a sign to be less cautious with them. You can always pull back if you find yourself dying too much with no bombs left.

2) Many attacks you can read and react to as they happen, but each game to varying degrees does have points where a bit of memorization of what is to come next in the stage and how to avoid it is very helpful. I find practicing individual stages really helped me build strategies that I would employ in a full run.

3) Make sure to focus using shift. Simple advice, but there've been folks who ignored that feature before.

Overall though, reassure yourself that the process is going to take a good amount of time and deaths, and enjoy every small bit of progress that you make. The amount of work required to do good in these games are what makes victory so sweet. On some of the harder challenges I've beaten I'll have my hands shaking at the end out of excitement. Other games don't do that to me.

i completely suck at memory. i also hold on my bombs 2 much (i'll try to 1cc touhou 7 )

If you want to get higher chances for beating the game next time you try, you can use continues for the current you will have, you will get a bad ending but atleast you will be a lil more experienced in the patterns of certain game, and if you dont want to bother the time you can download the auto-bomb mod that will deathbomb for you automatically, you wont get as much satisfaction once you 1CC the game tho

Hate to break it to you but from my experience extra stages will wanna make you either watch them on youtube or just download cheat mods from thcrap, extra stages are like between hard and lunatic in difficulty, atleast in EoSD and PCB
And added to that, the extra stages (at least with PCB) only give you two lives. The bullets also can go so fast that it doesn't give you time to react unless you know their patterns well.

I really hate that they extra stages wont let you have additional lives you give yourself in the settings, especially bad with phantasm stage which is like 3x more difficult than lunatic

I got caught off guard when i fought Chen in extra stage, i'd say it's good i had enough luck to not get sniped by that but i had to cheat with invincibility anyway so i could atleast get to see the dialogues + lore

I agree, it really is frustrating that the game only gives you two lives on the extra stage despite its difficulty. Guess ZUN likes being a masochist, huh? -_-
Also, same for me with fighting Chen. When I tried the extra stage for the first time, the fairies were already an immediate surprise, but Chen caught me off-guard even more.
I got past Chen once through sheer dumb luck, but Ran almost immediately sniped me into oblivion (so hard she sent me into another game!).

Speaking of, when you get really stuck on a pattern and it seems to require some really clever movement, I don't think there is shame in loading up a video for tips. You don't want to overdo it of course; it's a lot of fun to figure out a tricky pattern. You've always got to balance frustration and enjoyment.

For normal PCB I don't think there was anything particularly tricky enough for this. Maybe something on stage 4. But for each of my extra runs I definitely looked to see how people were doing one or two of the attacks on each one.

Yuyuko's second phase is tricky when you first see it
If i didn't play SoHW (Servants of Harvest Wish) which also has final boss with 2 phases, Yuyuko's second phase would completely catch me off guard and i would get a bad ending due to shock that would cause stress cuz i would never suspect Touhou bosses having 2 phases

I didn't have much surprise for Yuyuko's second phase, as that phase's theme was among the earlier Touhou themes I came across, so at some point, I became aware that she has a second phase even before I first played PCB.

That theme could as well be absent in PCB since there are other characters with multiple themes, for example Mima or Sakuya

I'm not really sure what you mean, but I personally prefer that theme the most out of any of Yuyuko's themes. It genuinely sounds ghostly, which is ironic considering the circumstances of Yuyuko's second phase.

Im confused as to why did you know that Yuyuko has a second phase just because she had another theme in other games, if Sakuya also have another theme in different game but doesn't have a second phase, same for Yukari
Well, I think that's something you'd have to ask the me of that time, because I honestly don't remember how.
Could've been something from the Touhou Wiki, or it could've been comments in one of the videos of the theme.

rn i usually play on easy mode (reisen and tewi laughing at me 🥀)
ive played on normal but i usually game over at stage 2 or 3 depending on the game
but yea i just wanna beat any touhou game on normal so i can get a extra stage. so any and ALL tips are helpful
I've tried seeking out this answer several times and even made a similar post about it here. Touhou games are just generally that difficult and many top players who have stared out also had a similar experience. Trying to learn the Touhou games can either be fun or miserable experience, I would suggest starting with a game that you find to be engaging and less infuriating. Perfect Cherry Blossom, & Imperishable Night are highly recommended games for beginners so you should try them out and see if you will enjoy trying to obtain a Normal 1cc.

Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is a game many players have started out with and recommended however, the later stages do become difficult and the game doesn't offer a lot of bombs to skip through some of these annoying sections. Mountain of Faith is another recommended game for beginners but I personally cannot recommend it to beginners cause trying to stockpile lives is kinda complex with some added risk to it, and Kanako is a very frustrating Stage 6 boss even on Easy Difficulty, and the continue system adds more salt to the wound. Also a thing that these two games have in common is that you can't get the good ending on Easy difficultly.

If you do eventually plan on playing Mountain of Faith, I would recommend using a mod that brings back the original continue system seen in the other games.

Avoid Subterranean Animism (Touhou 11), Undefined Fantastic Object (Touhou 12), & Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom (Touhou 15) are these are notable for very difficult and infuriating, Subterranea Animism really ruined my experience and view point with the Touhou games. I'm aware that Point Device mode exists in Lunatic Kingdom but it isn't a option when trying out the extra stage in the game.

I'm currently trying to Normal 1cc Mountain of Faith, and I was able to complete my blind run using only 2 continues.

One piece of advice I will offer is that if there's a certain spell card or section that you find to be unable to clear consistently then you're better off bombing through it.
