How did you even meet Touhou?

Originally I got interested in touhou because Toby Fox recommended it (yeah yeah yeah, i should kys), and added it to my backlog. Years later, I was pondering how my life feels lowkey empty, as if there's a small puzzle piece missing. So naturally I downloaded EoSD, spent hours getting it to run, and then it all just instantly clicked. The fair challenge, high difficulty, and lack of distractions is something a lot of my favorite games share.
Of course, it's not all about the games themselves. I somehow managed to get hopelessly obsessed with one character within the first month. Got more favorites along the way, but they're all irrelevant and ZUN hates them. Oh well. I also never listened to Bad Apple before, and only reluctantly did it after getting into the series. It's usually the other way around, huh.

I found out about Undertale because of it's music through an old Minecraft YouTuber named MagmaMusen. Though, I've never been interested in any of Toby Fox's works besides a brief period where I watched some Undertale no commentary gameplay videos probably around 8 or 9 years ago.
Anyway, what were the favorite Touhou characters you've had?

Anyway, I had my phase of denial, then acceptance. From within a year's span, I think, Touhou was pretty much part of my psyche. Special interests are truly a weird thing. Then I isolated myself from any Touhou-related group, forums or place because of my own mental rigidity over how I perceived the series. Finally, I also came to a conclusion since a few months and I'm regularly using the forums to speak with others. That conclusion was: I know that nobody arounds me knows Touhou, and that is the thing that fascinates me the most. Many things in life don't give me the same feeling as this series in particular. Being alone doesn't help, maybe I should try again with like-minded people over on a forum.

Same thing happened to me. I won't get much in detail but, the moment I listened to Ten Desires's first stage theme (Night Sakura of Dead Spirits) and saw Yuyuko, I guess a fuse broke in my mind. I became infatuated the moment I saw her. My guess is since I discovered Touhou at the start of my puberty, my neurons activated way too hard at that right time (hormonal VTEC kicked in) and my own self amplified it further. However, I'm way too embarrassed to tell how far this infatuation went to fully confirm that. There was also other factors at play but, nonetheless.

In regards to acknowledging touhou itself, I was introduced to touhou from Sr. Pelo's animation on EoSD and loved it! I had heard of it beforehand but without other knowledge besides "That one hard game for insane people (as a flex) [lol]." Afterwards I was interested and decided to look at more information inside the realm of the series and kicked off from there! I didn't play the games until little less than a year afterwards, in which my first was the HSiFS demo
