Favorite Touhous??

Hyello, not sure if this has been asked already, or recently, but who cares? Spend time answering to my curiosities! :> - Anyways, a list of questions. First off, what's your favorite Touhou song? What's your favorite Touhou game? Who's your favorite Character? Whether its official or not, it doesn't matter! Do leave an explanation, no matter how short or lengthy it is, after all I would take pleasure in reading your responses. Anyways, that's all for here!

Really good songs, both of them! And great game choice, though I’m not good at 15 at all.

Those questions get asked about every month, but we tend to answer it regardless lol

For favorite song, I really like Crimson Belvedere - Eastern Dream. I find most arrangements of that track really well made, specially Demetori's 2 arrangements, and it grew on me because of that.
For favorite game I don't really have one, I suck at shmups a lot lol. So I can't really pinpoint any in specific as my favorite.
As for character, well it's pretty obvious I like Sanae, but alongside Sanae I also like Remilia, Kanako and Kogasa.

Pretty bread and butter answers, I know, lol

Basic as they are, they’re still great, after all they are all fan favorites for a reason! Anyways, Crimson Belvedere is such a good song, I can see why you like it so much, and especially the Demetori version! As for games, I get you, I used to be horrible a shmups :<

Favourite game is 8. Favourite character is Patchouli Knowledge because we're both hermits who read/study all day.

There are too many to count for me with characters. lol Though if I had to choose at least some of them, there'd of course be Orin, Kokoro, Hina, Yukari, Mima, and Letty. Just to name a few. I love the vast majority of Touhou's cast, so it'd be impossible for me to pick just one. Though I tend to like the youkai and fairy characters best (because I love non-human characters). And in regards to Touhou music, same deal. Though among my absolute favorites are Pure Furies, Pristine Beat, Doll Maker of Bucuresti and basically the whole Dolls in Pseudo Paradise album. For Touhou arranges, among my main favorites are Shrine Maiden (all versions, though especially the trance version) by Yonder Voice, Portrait in Sand by EastNewSound (very, VERY obscure song), Back to You by Milikychan, SPRING PATH by Frozen Starfall (I love German, so that is why I love Milkychan and Frozen Starfall's music), and many, many others which I can't remember off the top of my head. Favorite games (both official and non-official) are PCB, HSiFS, PoFV, SA (though I can barely even get past Parsee and get taken down completely by Yuugi), LoLK, AoCF, Sapphire Panlogism, and Mystia's Izakaya.

Quite the expansive taste you have! But I seem to find myself in the same boat, honestly. It’s pretty hard to only list a few favorite characters and such when there are so many cool characters in the series! And I totally get you on SA, as a matter of fact, I wasn’t even able to move from Parsee for two months because that was my first touhou game, loll

Had to edit in a few other stuff too. lol The reason I found Touhou, and one of the main reasons I love it, is because of the music for me too. And very much agree in regards to the characters.

I got into Touhou the same way! Actually, sort of. I was exposed to the animation memes, and I used to watch Rampaging Sakuya all the time not knowing what it was. It wasn’t until I grew a bit older I came across the video again, and after liking the song played in the background, I did my own research, and after looking into more Touhou songs it eventually led me to Touhou itself!!

I came to Touhou quite late in the game. I only really got into it in late 2024. I found Touhou primarily though Bad Apple (though I mainly got into it by Sully Orchestra's Bad Apple, through a reupload of their song which got taken down on YouTube by them, but I recently found reuploaded on Bilibili). It was then various other musics (particularly some of the main ones were A Soul As Red As A Ground Cherry, Pristine Beat, Pure Furies, Yuyuko's final spell theme, which is still one of my favorite Touhou themes, Back to You by Milkychan, some of the AoFC OST, along with a few others). Then, I gradually got more interested in the characters and lore, and before I knew it, I'd (willingly) fallen down the rabbit hole. I didn't really get into much of the animations until a bit later on. I think it's possible that I discovered Bad Apple or something else related to Touhou earlier (one of the main reasons I think that is because of Yuyuko's final spell theme somehow felt "familiar" to me). I know I discovered some Touhou art before I started getting into it (one of the biggest ironies was a space artist on DeviantArt by the name of JustV23 whom I discovered at least over a year before I discovered Touhou having made Touhou artwork before). Anyway, sorry for another long reply. lol When I'm interested in something, I can talk about it for hours!

It’s fine, I don’t mind the longer replies! In fact I encourage it, gives me more to read, hehe. But anywho, I totally get you! What got me into the Touhou rabbit hole was a few songs, those of which being Flowering Nights, Night of Knights, Love Colored Master Spark, and Native Faith! Had it not been for those, I don’t think I would’ve gotten into Touhou. And what especially nailed me was when I discovered Tokyo Active Neets, a Touhou Circle which specializes in remaking the Touhou songs in Jazz. They’re quite amazing, you should check them out if Jazz is your cup of tea

I'm probably one of the few who actually prefers Flowering Night over Luna Dial (it's one of my favorite themes from PoFV). Also, I've listened to Tokyo Active Neets before, but I don't think I really knew that they made jazz. While jazz isn't my favorite genre, I find myself liking a lot of jazz songs (mainly because I adore the saxophone). Also, I'm happy I found someone who appreciates my long replies! :3

I also prefer Flowering Night over Luna Dial, I think it’s such too good of a song… and I’m surprised you’ve listened to Tokyo Active Neets before! They seem to be a little underground, even with Touhou fans. I think I’ve encountered barely even a dozen others who have listened to them. And ofc ofc, long replies are always welcome, hehe.

I've discovered MANY different stuff which most Touhou fans don't know of. If anything, I'd say I know more about the underground and obscure stuff than I do with the more popular things. I mean, I already know nearly all of the Touhou characters there are when most people can only name a few. I've always had a strange, almost "supernatural" gravitation towards more obscure things. That's how I was able to find Touhou at all. That is true for basically everything. I could tell you dozens of obscure pieces of information on history for example (one of my biggest interests). I'm not sure it is like this either. No idea if it's just because of my niche interests or if I actually do have some form of supernatural power which guides me to these things. lol
