personally I'm really liking Lost Word. The gacha system seems much more fair than other gacha games I've played. in most gacha games trying to get characters without spending money feels like a complete shot in the dark with pretty unclear pity systems being the only reprieve. with Lost Word I feel like I've gotten every character I've really focused on and while I feel like the pity system is much less forgiving than other gacha games (to the point that I've only ever gotten to use it 3 times) it's at least very clear and obvious about exactly when you're going to benefit from pity and you get to choose exactly what you get when the pity points reach the required numbers. I feel like the gameplay is more fun than people give it credit for (then again I do often challenge myself to do 1 character runs of levels, often when that one character is below the recommended level. this might be why I feel the game is also more strategic than others give it credit for, of course there'll usually be more strategy in a challenge run than a normal one).

also while I do see the point about alternate versions of characters being more powerful I notice that this is only really the case with the Super Festival Characters. post-Fantasy Rebirth my L1 Reimu and L1 Marisa both have higher stat totals than their A1 (the EoSD version) counterparts (granted, this is just stat totals, I'm not aware enough of the meta or whatever to understand if the A1 versions have some other trick to give them the edge). I've not yet leveled up my Fantasy Rebirth Sakuya and Cirno to see if the same is true for them but I suspect it might be, my Fantasy Rebirth Youmu is pretty close to the A7 version despite being over 20 levels below her so I'd suspect that this is pretty universal for all Fantasy Rebirth characters to be stronger than their non-Super Festival variants. if Byakuren and Aya get Fantasy Rebirths I suspect they'll also be stronger than their A12 and A9 versions respectively. since most Fantasy Rebirth characters are from the normal wish pool (only Yukari and Kasen have been from Festival prayers) I'd say this is a good thing.

Super Festival characters will probably always be the strongest (which I'm fine with as long as they're given a plot reason for it, I'm a little iffy about the fact that all the Lunar War versions are stronger despite having their powers sealed. if anything I feel like that should make them the weakest version of the characters. the same applies to the new Remilia, she's established in the story to be extremely weakened, seemingly unable to even stand, but she's somehow far stronger than L1 Remilia) purely due to their rarity but as long as we keep on getting some normal units in the high tiers I see no problem with that

at the end of the day I'd say that if people don't like something they just shouldn't play it. no need to keep on dragging it out as something to hate (and while I don't think this particular thread is doing that I do see people in other places doing it a lot. Lost Word and Memories of Phantasm seem to be the punching bags of the Touhou community. I understand that some people might not like the overly fanon aproach that both works take but they both still clearly have plenty of work put into them and if people don't like the product they can just find another game (I understand that there are slim pickings for another Touhou anime so people are mostly stuck with Memories of Phantasm), perhaps even make one themselves to give the rest of the Touhou community something to enjoy.)

i played a bit of LW
got my favs and now im kinda lost.

I am still in the process of getting my favs, as I still need Raiko and eventually Tenkyuu (whenever the UM cast will appear in LW). Until then, there is a bit of uncertainty of what to do. I have 2810 Seal Crystals right now, yet no interest in the SFES banner ongoing (Hifuu Remilia and Flandre, Mysterious Sword Master). I was looking out of curiosity for when PCB Yukari and Alice are coming (13th and 15th of May), but I do not like the fact the two are separate banners. Plus, I do not really want any new SFES unit in my collection as I already have two of them (Lunar War Reimu and Toyohime), unless I want some dupes for MSM (have her stuck at lvl 70, and wanna save my Divine Paper Dolls for later).

You mean the Scarlet Devil Tower challenge that comes every now and then? I never really got too much into it (I am only at Stage 11), so better get a bit more work once it comes back on the 19th of May. I have not seen too much story of it yet outside the intro cutscene.

It does indeed fell a lot like "everyone is here", randomly throwing in characters left and right. There are just so many you end up losing track who is who and on what side. At one point, we literally something you could describe as a three-way battle that felt a little bit pointless. I just hope Act 4 will be the conclusion of this story, as I fell it dragged for way too long.

I'll talk more about the recent events now. Since we have both PCB Alice and Yukari on the way, I'm predicting that MoF Nitori and Sanae will arrive together at some point. I'm also glad they've shown the roadmap for fantasy rebirth. Here are more predictions:

June - Mokou, Kaguya and Eirin

July - Kanako, Byakuren and Suwako

August - Luna, Star and maybe Yuyuko?

It's great that the global version is catching up to jp now for fantasy rebirths.

Yeah, now with the way Act 3 ended, I really wonder how could they drag it even more for a whole more act. But after that, good question in regards to what Chapter 4 might be. I will probably play it too, and I hope the story will remain engaging (and not just a big cluster like Chapter 3 Act 3 has been). 

Anyway, have you started the new event story? The one with the band has come a bit earlier than I expected (yesterday instead of late May), so at least we got something new to do. I wish more stories like these were made for the other SFES units, just that you could get a bit of connection and sense in regards to how you end up getting them besides meta reasons like "game wants new content to make money from". The story is simple, cute, and actually had quite a bit of fun when the two Marisa met (what do they do - let's have a demonstration fight to see how the other performs). As said, I really wanna see more of that in the future.

I haven't tried any of the events for a while but this band one looks fun, so I'll check it out. I want more characters like Alterisa (amazing nickname) to have events too. I'd love to see MSM Youmu interact with our Youmu more.

Those fantasy rebirth costumes are so beautiful! I always think about more of my favourites getting these outfits one day.

Yeah, it is actually quite a good nickname. The other nickname I can remember from this game, but used for MC, is "Lossie". It was used both in the prologue by Yukari, and in the Hifuu storyline by Maribel (coincidence? I think not). But yeah, I would like to se the other SFES getting something similar, in order for us to understand how they got in our service. But I get we cannot get it yet due to the stories not being complete yet (Hakugyouku Arena needs one more act, and both Lunar War stories seem to have ended in some sort of cliffhanger; the SDM story is also a bit in limbo, and would definitely need some explanation how are we able to summon Remilia and Flan).

For something different, now that we are into the Anniversary and first Forever Prayer (there will be one more once this one ends). For that, I will just repost here my question from r/touhou_lostword:

I know, it has been discussed quite a lot... but I am not sure what to pick at this Forever Prayer. If I am to go by the "waifu > meta" route, I already have all the units I looking for. If I am to go for the meta, I am not sure what to pick. I already have Suika, Tenshi, Iku, Hecatia and Yuuka (also coinciding with the waifu part), as well as two SFES units.

For this edition of the FP, I was thinking to get Toyohime, Miko or one of the EoSD retros. I got Miko in Day 2, and ever since I am not decided whether to keep her or go for something new. I mean she looks cute and all, but I am not too impressed of the elements she carries. besides, I was looking to slow down a bit the pace of getting new characters, as I got a few recently and cannot keep up with upgrading them. (gonna get back to that a bit later).

As for the miscellaneous stuff, it is more like a round-up of questions and things I have realized after playing Lost Word for a year now:

• may or may not be a mistake on my side, but I have not spent a single God Cube since I started the game. Therefore, after this Everybody Winds campaign, I will have 4K of them; I have not found yet a costume to be 100% sure I want, and did not upgrade the dojo or school - I have seen how much emphasis is put here on the idea of using GCs for those upgrades, but until now I have gone quite well with the default number of assets
  
• I am quite curious when will PCB Yukari and Alice get a rerun; since they are separate banners, even if I would like to get them (3K SCs to spare), the fact they come separate is putting me off a bit, and was thinking when would they get a rerun with maybe both characters in the same banner like we got recently with other retro units
  
• on a similar note, any idea what the next retros coming to Global might be? I do not really have a particular one I am looking for, but curiosity is always a thing
  
• in the end, what characters from your Top 10 list do you already have, and for which are you still waiting for to be brought to Global? In my case, I already have Akyuu, Eiki, Youmu, Yuuka, Mayumi, Okuu, Junko, Hecatia and Iku, and I am still waiting for Raiko and Tenkyuu (whenever the cast of Touhou 18 will come into Lost Word). I would have also added Maribel and Renko, but I do not think they will get past the NPC status.
  

What makes this even better is the one answer I got yet - Sunny Milk or Cirno. Jokes on you, I already have those two

Time to catch up on everything. With the forever prayer, I've been trying to find either Yuugi, Saki or Miko so far.  I really want to have a team with all the characters from SA.

It was surprising seeing reisen arrive early. Guessing we will get the other hifuu ones within a similar time frame. I like how the global version is on par with jp for ufes characters now.

I actually joined the lostword discord recently and I've been trying to convince new people to not disregard anyone who isn't Flandre or Remila. I still don't like the obsession with tier lists and think everyone should just pick characters they like. There have been nice people I've met though.

As for my supposed top 10, I guess I nearly have everyone apart from my number one. I'll continue to wait for Parsee like always. (:
