Convincing to join the fandom

I would say, use what the other person's interests lie, and try to see if there is something Touhou related. Obviously, it would be best to get them into the canon Touhou via the STG games, the fighting games, the official manga, or even the albums, as to give the other person a good foundation on what canon Touhou is. But, it not like official Touhou media is the most appealing stuff of Touhou, so if that is the case, try using fanworks.

For example, say they are into games. Are they into roguelikes? Perhaps, Lost Branch of Legend's addition of a magic system to the Slay the Spire formula will prove refreshing. Looking for a comfy story to read? Try out Mystia's Izakaya and see the success story of one sparrow. Like picking apart puzzles? Kubinashi Recollection will certainly put the head for a loop. The point of the matter is that a person can be invested into that Touhou media where their passion/curiosity/wonder from the osmosis of Touhou elements within the work will allow them to decide they want to go deeper into Touhou.

Keep in mind, Touhou is a diverse within works. It could be cosplay, art, books, music, animation, etc. Just remember that the other person's is free to choose if they want to go into Touhou. So, keep in mind of their preferences when choosing the Touhou media to invest in. Hell, maybe this matching of interests can be bridge activity on knowing the person more, while looking across the sea of Touhou media.

Anyway, since I said all this stuff about searching Touhou media, I should put a pointer to FlameSniper's Awesome Touhou List. This list contains a lot of helpful links onto the different aspects of Touhou media. I hope the list proves helpful, and that you can be successful in getting people interested in Touhou.
