Are you guy still going to play future Touhou games after the Touhou 20 AI fiasco

As far as I remember, the reason he hasn't released those games on Steam is because he apparently had lost the source code to them a long time ago.

And he doesn't seem to worry about it, really.

Yes. Touhou 20 was a good game. Presentation is important but I think gameplay takes priority first and foremost. as long as the game is fun I will play it.

Does it really matter if it's just backgrounds? It's not like he used AI for the character art/story/music and stuff

I'm one of the minority who says I don't care about AI contents. If it's there it's there. For me it's just a game, and if I find it an important game for myself then I consider the AI having equal rights to a human. Stolen art and whatever everyone brings up just proves that, real art is born in the heart of audience and not in the hand of the artist. For the artist the work is an expression, for those who like it it's an artifact. This doesn't change just because of the one made the art.
