Meowskateer

DESTROYER OF BAD DAYS AND EATER OF CAKE!
People are so quick to accuse of some weird stuff like 'gooner' or even worse, that I just don't mention that am a fan of Touhou irl.

Man, most people I meet don't even know what the frick Touhou is.... : ((((

Someday you will run into someone who does. I hope you don't have my experience.
I'm sick of these assholes saying that being a weeb is embarrassing or something...

I've always seen these stuff as a personal thing and I pretty much refrain from talking about it unless that person wants to.

The reality is being a "weeb" is main stream now. I don't even attend my local anime convention anymore.

Where I live weeb culture has just gotten mainstream in the past few years due to covid so i never hid the fact I'm a weeb since its always an opportunity to meet like minded people or atleast show off the stuffs im into. With touhou being deeply rooted in weeb culture you'd think everybody and their mother knows about it but its still super niche that I've never met another touhou fan in the wilds which is baffling.

Though i don't know how you are getting gooner allegations from being a touhou fan since i think the raunchy stuffs aren't what touhou is known for (though there certainly are Mountains of Faith worth of them).

Dont get me wrong, I am glad it's more popular, it means we're going to get higher quality content and more doors will open!
I'm just not a fan of the unfriendly crowd it's pulling in.
I agree.

I wish anime stayed as it was a few years ago, things were so good back then!

I mean, pretty much any and all Fandoms have creeps in it. I couldn't tell you why I've specifically had these accusation...mind you, most of my life people have gotten "bad vibes" from me their whole life, another thing I couldn't tell you why, never done the things accused of.
Like a few months ago I was accused of theft at work, it was a pretty big deal, it wasn't until camera footage was pulled that people believed me.

Ya idk...

I mean, I've seen what people do with the life size cutouts, fumo plushes, and more. There are creeps in every Fandom. I'm a big mecha, mecha musume, and trading card game fan right? But I'll never be able to unsee Gooning on Gunpla.

But yeah, I don't keep my enjoyment of Touhou a secret. I just don't actively bring attention to it either. Especially since I live in rural America. Weebs exist here, but they're shonen or Pokémon Go. Nothing cultured like Touhou.

Just my opinion tho,

I feel like the 2000s era animes had more love and dedication put in rather than what we get nowadays.

Most animes now have same style (like most of them just look the same) and generic plot, unlike the old ones

Take Kill la kill or Nichijou for example...

The old charm animes had are long gone now

But I'm not saying all of the new ones are bad tho.

Yeah it's mostly just these kids trying to be like adults and show off

I get ya!! And dont worry, i see it too. Whats especially bad is stuff gets one season and then get canceled.
But, also to be fair, 2000's is guilty of that aswell. The quantity just wasn't as high.

Literally, the pain of finding a good anime and get zero search results about its second season. T^T

Yk I think touhou should also just stay like this.
Just a small and peaceful community

Protect it as long as possible before it becomes mainstream. Still enjoy the heck out of the Touhou Muse Dash levels though.
Touhou music's been on almost every rythm game i played, Like PJsekai, arcaea, osu! etc

Touhou doujin music rocks!!!

It's not like I keep the fact I like Touhou as a secret, it's just that I either don't have opportunities to say it at all. Either that or people around me don't really know what Touhou is. For instance, I haven't seen any cons that had any singular reference about it (merch, cosplays, songs, nothing).

I have mixed feelings about Touhou not being popular nowadays. It's good to have more people that shares their passion about something, but at the same time there are way too many toxic individuals who would only make things worse.
I cannot deny that it would be cool to see Touhou stuff more often, but the cost (which is dealing with idiots) isn't one I'm willing to pay.

It's a cult classic of bullet hell genre, and I'm all down for it. Plus I love how the music scene evolve the original soundtrack beyond comprehension sometimes!
