Anyone Else Have Trouble Introducing Touhou To Your Family As A Result Of All The Fanservice And Yuri Derivative Works?

The only media that necessarily needs to be connected to Touhou is the official releases. The nice thing about fan works is that if we don't enjoy it or if we find it objectionable then we can entirely write it off as the creation of someone unrelated to the real series.

Which is to say that every meaningful franchise has fan works which are explicit or personally embarrassing. I'd hope that whoever you share things with don't think that you are endorsing everything that's ever been posted to the internet using that title. Just share works which you find personally acceptable and there will be no problems, you don't have to throw them into some Touhou fan group knowing nothing, haha.

And if they become a fan enough themselves to explore by themselves then I'm sure they will know how to separate fan stuff that they don't have to care about from the main stuff that they do. There are plenty of modest Touhou places out there and it isn't at all impossible to create an innocent feed of them.

I understand the insecurity and embarrassment that comes from imagining people's assumptions about the things that you enjoy. I find that people are actually much more open to discussing things that we would have thought them to find strange than we would think, though.

Well, I highly doubt my family would think I like the explicit or "strange" Touhou works.
I'm still trying to make sure to think of stuff relating to Touhou that aren't like that which I can show them.
Regardless, the main thing I'm worried about is my parents (especially my Mama) being worried that I may like that sort of stuff even if I were to stress I don't like it. Or, the more important one being that I'm just worried they'll think it to be a "bad influence" on me.
Still, I'm someone who tends to worry about stuff in far excess of what others do (and there's not really anything to be done about it either), so those sorts of worries would very likely not come to pass.
Their reaction to me liking Touhou wasn't as bad as I was expecting.
Still, the only stuff I've really shown to my Mama are a couple of the Touhou themes, Bad Apple, and some gameplay of Yuyuko's boss fight in PCB (the very first thing I showed to her).

Well, that's really all that you've got to show if you are just trying to give someone an idea, right?

Probably so. I mean, that was my intention at the time anyway. I just wanted to show her some things relating to Touhou so that she wouldn't have a bad impression of it (still though, EoSD's title did make her a bit suspicious, but I had told her that it was just Remilia's title, which is of course true).
I was originally planning to show those videos to both of my parents, but my Daddy didn't feel like going into the computer room.
I still haven't really showed either of them anything more since then.
I'm still thinking of sending something or other to my Mama at least though. Just not really sure what.

Though, I am thinking of sending her some of PCB's music. In general, I think introducing her to PCB and IN are probably among the safest of Touhou's games.
Also because I love those games to death.
If I were to send her some of PCB's music, Ancient Temple, Deep Mountain, Fantastic Tales of Tohno, and Diao ye Zong would most certainly be my top choices.

Uhh... Well, I'm sorry, but that's not gonna change. I'll very likely be calling him that even when I'm over 50.
I've called him that for pretty much my entire life (very likely already since I learned to speak), and it'd quite literally be impossible for me to get out of the habit of it too.
Besides, I don't particularly care if someone else finds it strange. He's my Daddy, and I'll call him however I want.
Too many people find the wrong things strange...
I'm sorry that I sound rude, but it's just as a whole something which I won't change.

Besides, isn't it weirder for a bunch of 20 to 40 year-old guys to like a series of games about magical girls fighting each other?
Good on you
honestly the internet has ruined the word daddy for me
same applies for mommy
Honestly I like that it hasn't worn the words for you

ok. but still, my brother calls me a girl if it has just girls.
Eh. I don't think his opinion matters. Maybe HE'S the girl for calling you a girl. lol

And besides, Rinnosuke is far more manly than he'll ever be! The man's half-youkai for goodness sake!
If that's not manly, then I don't know what is!
