A little observation I've noticed that rifts the PC-98 and Modern era of touhou farther apart by 1%

While attempting to fall asleep a few nights ago, I had a thought. Between the PC-98 and modern era, there aren't has many truly non-human bosses/midbosses in the modern windows game compared to the PC-98 games. What I mean are bosses that are glowing orbs or objects, the sort.

Thus, I made this image.

If I made a mistake or forgot someone please correct me! But I do think this image illustrates what I'm thinking. As you see, there's a big divide in terms of characters.

My idea is that ZUN was more experimental with the PC-98 era rather than today, likely due to not being nearly as popular. That's why we got lore-filled and wonderous characters like 2 red glowing dots, or mysterious orb.

Thoughts?

(And, yes the text at the top is in the Google font. Don't ask why.)

The glowing sphere at the right is Nue, so it doesn't really count. But yeah you're right, the only non-humanoid mid-bosses from the winwods era are Jimbo (th18 orb which is in fact just an invincible generic enemy), the big pyramid (th20), and the only boss is Taisui Xingjun which isn't even real. That's because modern touhou's point is "make everything a girl", you know, tsukumogami, actual people etc. Old touhou's characters didn't even have inspirations, they were whatever Zun wanted to use, that's why we have the legendary five magic stones, the tanks and Mimi chan.

I do personally sort of miss ZUN's tendency to make weird non-humanoid enemy characters (I do love the fairies, but I still do wish there was some more variety) as they sort of gave the games that "fantasy" feel even more. Not to mention, a lot of those enemy designs look pretty cool.

Edit: Just changed human to humanoid, as most of Touhou's characters aren't human even if they look it.
