Would the unique ability of magic manipulation be okay?

Magic manipulation: The ability to add or alter the 'Properties" of spells, as long as the spell's strength is within the users magical reserves or their strength is similar to the users.

Properties can include -

Lowering or increasing a spells output

Changing or redirecting an oncoming spells path

Altering the rules that a spell follows

Merging different kinds of magic to create a hybrid of something new

Now to the actual question, which is directed at Yumetou but I believe to be qualified enough to answer myself; With your ability coming at a significant magic cost, I believe it may pass. You should probably also bring up the character sheet, as the downside of playing as a specific being may cause more leniency that would otherwise be lost. Of course, if you have her (or him) planned out already.

...That is, if Yumetou agrees with my conjecture and I have not been overzealous in welcoming people back here.

Heya Jamqx! Sadly the game's on hiatus. We had a hard time keeping people, and irl I'm just swamped right now. Though that may change in the near future. I hope so, I liked the concept behind Illusionary Nirvana.

As for your ability, I don't think you'd have a good time with that. The plot of Illusionary Nirvana is magic is draining out of Gensokyo, and no one knows why. There isn't enough magic to perform Spell Card abilities, and most people fight using basic magic or with medieval weapons. I'd say the lovely Nyoko's limitations are correct, but you wouldn't have a lot of chances to use your special ability.

...how is it going everyone? I see that roleplay here on this forum has been awfully stagnating.

And, since this is the only post close to activity, I hope I can join in this rp!

My usual crowd of people lately has been falling out with roleplay, so I hoped I can fill this void somewhere!

Anyways, while I understand that the scenario is a magic decline type, how does it affect the Youkai races in general, since they are generally magical existances? Would Oni's still have their superhuman strength? Or is even that affected and considerably downscaled?

As for my planes for a character, I plan to play Kasen? Would being one of the Youkai Sage's be okay?

the plot of this whole game is really cool, would've been great if we could actually get it going again

in the case we do happen to continue this then i got a few questions:
-does the magic decline in gensokyo only affect those native to it? like if someone is to draw out magic whos source is from the outside world would it work? (im thinking of magics from different world religions/mythologies)
-what sort if payment from gensokyo does Otherworldly Ventures Inc. accept? I'm not so sure if they want to make gensokyo money or outside world money and I'm not sure of the value of either if they were put on the economy of the other worlds

Wow, weird to see this has had sustained interest, despite being on hiatus. I expected this thing to just quietly die and--oh its the bird dude with two heads!

I probably won't have time to do this again anytime soon. But you can all consider this a sound-off for who'd be interested in a repeat of this idea.
