What do you all think of Reimu A (Homing Amulet) or similar shot types?

I never really felt like I had a great time with Reimu A. Double Dealing Character is the only Touhou game where I could say that I found Reimu A to be enjoyable. A lot of my problems with Reimu A, mostly came from my experience with trying to get my Easy 1cc in PCB since a lot of my failed attempts where from using Reimu A until I switched to Reimu B and finally got my 1cc clear which also felt a lot more easier compared to using Reimu A even though it's the beginner friendly option.

I might consider playing PCB again and see if I can get an Easy 1cc clear with Reimu A. But I wonder what you all think of Reimu A in Touhou games.

I'm trying to remember if Reimu A is her homing shot type...
I know that the homing shot types are typically what works best for me in regards to Touhou.

I think Reimu A is decent when you don't know the spawn points for enemies in stages. Otherwise, I think it's a weak shot type. You lose an insane amount of damage on bosses with her, and you still have to stay under the boss because most of your damage is from direct hits, not homing. Some spell cards, like final spell cards, already take a while with good damage, and some bosses don't even move during their final spell, so the homing isn't really helping at all in those spells. So yeah, she's somewhat good for blind runs, but she's harder overall once you know the stages.

The only other homing shot type I've experienced was Sanae A in UFO, and she's a good bit different than Reimu A. I only played her for a bit before switching to Sanae B for a 1CC, but with the time I had on her, I didn't think she was as bad with damage as Reimu A.

In my opinion she is basically the low skill floor but low skill ceiling most of the time. While you still don't know the stages so well you'll have an easier time through them, but at the cost of longer boss fights, and when a lot of the games have shot types which still cover the screen pretty well it really doesn't take that long outlive the usefulness of Reimu A.

Sakuya A in PCB is a homing shot type that I thought was pretty awesome. Honestly I don't really remember if there even is a downside about the shot type itself over Reimu A.

Sakuya seems like a really powerful character in every game she's in.
In both PCB and DDC, I've gotten further with her than with either Reimu or Marisa.

Honestly i prefer Reimu B as well since she deals more damage, i always prefer higher damage over anything in every game, even if i have to dodge in Touhou while trying to shoot directly at the enemies at the same time which wouldnt be the problem for Reimu A

I think Sakuya A in PCB is just a better Reimu A. There's a clear difference in damage but there's a certain range you have be in for the homing to take effect but it's not that strict and it continues to lock on the enemy even when out of range. My only issue with Sakuya A is that her Spellcard "Killing Doll" is tied to bomb while focused.

She's also strong in Unconnected Marketeers but tricky to use. Her shot type does a lot of damage but her bomb is the weakest out of the 4 characters in the game.

I lowk suck at making sure I'm underneath the boss so I suck at playing Reimu B lol
I always have the same problem. Main reason I don't ever play as Marisa, as her whole gimmick is, well, making sure to stay underneath the enemy, and I can't really do that constantly very well.

Yeah, with Marisa, you're going to be repositioning a lot which puts you at risk of getting hit. At least Reimu has the benefit of having a smaller hitbox.
