I Got My First Touhou Game 1cc! (Perfect Cherry Blossom Easy)

SateriCat17

Neko Youkai Meijin
I can't believe that I actually accomplished a Touhou game 1cc!
I got it with Sakuya A!
Despite it being on easy mode, this is such a huge accomplishment for myself that I couldn't begin to describe it!
I'm just so happy right now!
Everybody says "easy mode is for babies", but for someone like me who is most often terrible with the official Touhou games (despite that, I still love them), then this is something that while I could imagine me doing at some point, I wouldn't have expected to come just like that.
In some ways, it almost seems like fate that my first Touhou 1cc was with PCB...

I just quickly tried the Extra Stage, and... Phew... Those bullets go far too fast. I got to Chen on my second try, but I died to her pretty quickly.

Funny thing w/ PCB is that it has a fairly difficult easy mode, with lots of people being unable to differentiate it from normal with how dense the bullet patterns get stage four onward. Still, 1ccing Touhou even on the easy difficulty is no walk in the park, so congrats on the achievement. Also keep in mind that easy spell cards and normal spell cards are counted separately by the game, so both can contribute to the 60 captures needed to unlock the phantasm stage and Yukari.

Extra stages really just come down to practice and memorization more than anything else, so I'd definitely recommend you use thprac to nail down stage sections and spell cards. The good news is that PCB has the easiest extra stage from my experience, so keep at it and you'll prevail.

I think with pretty much all of PCB and it's difficulty, pretty much the entirety of its difficulty is determined by how of much of it you can remember.
I don't have a very good memory, but I can subconsciously remember many things for years even, so I believe that much of the reason for me being able to actually a 1cc for this game was a result of remembering the speed of the bullets and such. I was able to get past stage 4 with relative ease this time (I died either once or none), but the Prismrivers got pretty badly (as they almost always seem to), but I got past them after losing 2 or 3 lives.
I have most of Youmu's patterns down very easily, but this time I messed up a bit more than I usually do. Still, I got past her.
I died at least once in Stage 6, but I got past it anyway.
As for Yuyuko herself, I've beaten her 2 or 3 times before (she's the only final stage boss I've been able to beat consistently not counting PoFV or UDoALG), so I could remember some of her patterns too.
I ultimately kept switching between bombing and dodging, and despite only having 3 or 4 lives left, I only lost 1 or 2.
Once I got to her final spell, I had two lives left and no bombs, but as her final spell patterns are relatively simple, I just kept dodging and finally emerged victorious.

Sakuya does have a pretty crappy time w/ Merlin and her wavy lasers, though it's not as bad as Marisa having to deal w/ Lyrica's diagonal bullet spam. Reimu definitely gets the easiest Prismriver in Lunasa, and I personally find the fight gets easier once the three of them combine for their last few spell cards.

Of course, Sakuya A is an absolute beast in terms of focused damage, so battles of attrition with her are next to none.
Ironically, just before I started this run,I thought to myself about how Sakuya A would probably have the best chances of bringing me a 1cc. Guess I was proven right then. lol

I can definitely speak from experience with Lyrica being the easiest (as I played Reimu as my main for PCB for at least almost a year).
But, Merlin is really tough for sure with how fast and unpredictable her bullets can be.
In terms of Marisa, I tried with her before, but her only really being able to hit the enemies with her shots directly on them makes her nearly impossible to play for me.
That's the main reason that I don't really try playing the Touhou games with Marisa.
Reimu and her ability to home in on the enemies is really useful for me.
Fast reaction times can also be very sporadic for me as I can lose focus on things pretty easily.

Yooo congratulations!!
I still have problems with Youmu.
(I haven't touched easy mode in an etarnity though)
Well, Youmu would probably be much more of a difficulty for me on normal anyway.
Also, thanks! :D

How did you unlock extra stage if you beat easy mode? Did you use the code that unlocks everything? If no then how did you do it.
Anyway, extra stages are always way harder than even normal difficulty, i assume between hard and lunatic, i struggle with it even when using auto-bomb so i just keep on using invincibility cuz i just wanna know the lore

I know some of the Touhou games unlock the Extra Stage on any difficulty as long as you do a 1cc, so I guess PCB must be one of them.

Seeing your satisfaction on beating the game made me remember satisfaction i had whenever i won after more than 5 attemps, so technically this post made me wanna play fair, without auto-bomb. (I hope i wont return to auto-bomb after few tries)

(ofc im gonna use auto-bomb in touhou 6 for obvious reasons)

>Be me
>Youmu Konapku, half-human and half-phantom
>I use the same attack 3 times
>My spell card as a stage 5 mid-boss is the most insufferable thing in the game
I actually quite love her spell cards in PCB. They genuinely feel powerful to me.
Youmu also feels a bit more "enigmatic" in PCB in comparison to her later appearances.

"Easy" achievements in Touhou are still well and above most games in general in difficulty when considering how long a run lasts, so I think that people should be proud of any accomplishment they make in these games. Good luck with the extra stage if you decide to challenge it. I found that half-way through Ran was my gate, and once I got that down it was pretty smooth to the end.

I normally shy away from difficult games (mainly because I tend to ragequit on them pretty quickly), but Touhou is really the only exception. While failing at them can still be pretty frustrating, I love the look and feel of them. I had never really played bullet hells before Touhou, but it is a really fascinating game genre.
You certainly are right though about Touhou's "easy mode" being more difficult than most games.
Even among all of the Touhou games, the easiest ones for me are PCB and IN. Alongside PoFV and UDoALG.
For most Touhou games, I can usually get up to around the 3rd or 4th stage before most often failing miserably. These games certainly aren't for the faint of heart.

Oh wow I expected you to have gotten way more of them considering how active you are here, well anyway congrats!!! I don't really have much more to say here since I still have yet to play PCB

thats awesome! PCB in my opinion is a very hard game. took me a long time to 1cc it even on easy. i do hear that its one of the harder easy difficulties so no shame. keep going and one day you can 1cc other games and even extra stages <3
