Another Concept For A Possible Touhou Fangame I Have (Eternal Winter of Midsummer Snow)

So, to those of you who remember a previous Touhou fangame concept I made by the name of "Blooming Rain in Eden", I have created another concept for a possible Touhou fangame.
One summer in Gensokyo, snow had begun to fall despite it being the height of summer. Eventually, it blanketed all of Gensokyo in snow and ice, therefore it had transformed midsummer into midwinter. Days went by with more and more snow falling and it became colder and colder. It quickly became clear to all that this was yet another incident which has casted it's shadow upon Gensokyo. The Hakurei shrine maiden Reimu and ordinary magician Marisa once more set out to investigate, but another unexpected figure rose from beneath the snow to help resolve this "midsummer snow incident"...

-Reimu Hakurei: Tired of the relentless cold and snow in what would otherwise be a hot summer, despite her hatred of intense heat, her drive to rid Gensokyo of the cold and of this incident drove her to action. She thought of a certain yuki-onna as the culprit, but she would later find herself to be wrong.

-Marisa Kirisame: Curious about why Gensokyo had become blanketed in snow during what would otherwise be summer, she set out to investigate the cause of this incident. Her search for a certain yuki-onna whom she believed to be the cause of this incident would later lead her to a different culprit entirely.

-Letty Whiterock: Her finding herself awakening and having power in a time which should otherwise be summer has lead her to deciding to search for the reasons behind this out-of-season snow-covered Gensokyo. Knowing that a certain shrine maiden and human magician would come believing her to be the cause of this incident, she set out with haste...

As with last time, I will explain about some of the characters and circumstances behind this game's incident, along with some details on a couple stages.

The main culprit will be an ancient winter spirit who has grown weary of going into hiding for most of the year and so she has decided to make Gensokyo be covered in an eternal winter. The reason for her choosing summer to enact her plan is for "dramatic effect" and for the unseasonal snow to be indicative of an incident. Taking some amount of inspiration from the Spring Snow Incident of PCB, she has taken the magic of summer and transformed it into winter.

The 4th to 6th stages would be set in a palace of ice that the winter spirit and her followers have created.

The 4th stage boss would be a yuki-onna much like Letty herself. The 1st stage boss would probably be Cirno.

Anyway, for this game's story, the canonical incident resolver would be Letty herself. Obviously, I came up with the idea of this game to give Letty Whiterock the spotlight, as I find her to be a very underrated character.

Just thought it'd be an interesting idea to have. And of course, I adore Letty, so I wanted to make an idea for a game where she's largely the protagonist.
Though this is about all I've come up with for it for the moment.

I was thinking of something like that too. Probably should, so she can be a playable character and protagonist in two of my Touhou game concepts.
Besides Letty, I'd also want to design a game focused on Orin and to design others with Hina and Kokoro as playable characters (as I adore them too). Probably should also come up with a music-themed game centered around Raiko and the Tsukumo sisters while I'm at it. Still do just wish I had the technical knowhow and/or the connections to be able to make these game concepts into reality.

Sounds pretty cool, I got some questions that could expand on the more tech-y side of the game. It's got potential, man. (I heard Yuyuko is suing the spirit for copyright infringement, but will the yama listen?)

Yeah. The shot types would probably follow the A/B system. Reimu and Marisa's shot types would probably be similar to PCB, though I'm not too sure yet.

The character exclusive mechanics for Reimu and Marisa would have the same as normal (smaller hitbox for Reimu and wider collection range for Marisa). As for Letty... I'm not exactly sure, but it could be to where she can transfer the summer items into her own form of winter, which can boost her power for a short time. Maybe something like that.

For game mechanics, it'd probably be pretty similar to the "Supernatural Border" in PCB. With maybe it also having a mechanic similar to HSiFS.

As for Letty's shot types and bombs, I'm thinking her A unfocused shot would be spread out and can shoot exploding snowballs (pretty similar to Sanae in LoLK). Her focused shot is able to concentrate much of the bullets on the enemy, with some lower-damage spread shots. Her B unfocused shot would possibly be similar to her first shot, but without the snowballs. Her B focused shot is concentrated similar to her first shot type, but with snowballs rotating around herself. Her A bomb would probably be capable of producing a blizzard-like effect which can slow down some subsequent enemies for a short time (though works the best on fairies but can be very effective with bosses). (The slowdown mechanics are also like them being inhibited by her ice and snow.) While her B bomb would probably be capable of launching ice at the enemy and doing more damage.
But I would have to figure out some more of those mechanics largely be studying the gameplay of the official and non-official Touhou games more (though I certainly have gotten a lot of inspiration from them already).

Anyway, thanks for liking this idea! Was pretty fun to try to come up with some of the potential mechanics of this game, so thanks for asking! (Also, that thing with Yuyuko suing the spirit for copyright is very funny. Could make it an "unexpected" ending. lol)

I think that now, it is almost assured that Cirno would be the first stage boss, or at least in Letty's route (in Reimu and Marisa's routes, Cirno would be the midboss while another (original) character would take her place as first stage boss). In Letty's route, Cirno has decided she wants to fight and play with Letty, so despite Letty being somewhat in a hurry, she decides to play along with Cirno before heading out once more.

That does certainly sound like a pretty interesting idea.
