Just thinking about this game hurts my soul...
I've been playing LostWord since the Japanese version in 2020.
When I first played it, it started off okay. There are some flaws that they could've fixed to make the game better (like the battles feel slow and generic, fully limit breaking the story cards requires 1 duplicate at a time rather than up to 4 at once, etc.), but I realized that it was too early to judge the game yet. And I just decided to give it some time to get updates so I can see if I can like it even more.
To me, Touhou Cannonball (the game that I actually liked) gets updates that makes it better. And Touhou LostWord's updates
makes it even worse!
They didn't fix the boring and repetitive battle system. The stages and boss fights are still lame and generic. We get child, adult, swimsuit, and recolored variants. The L0 Units, not only just basically washed-out versions of the L1 Units with Fantasy Rebirth costumes, but they each cost like
$300! The main story barely goes anywhere. Most of the events are either repetitive or just bad. And other than Yukkuris, they didn't even make alternative universes and units based on other Touhou fanworks. So, they're just using the alternative universe plot as an excuse to shove a lot of fanservice and fetishes down our throats.
And as of the second half of May this year, I stopped playing Touhou LostWord because of it's really bad.
But, I still believe that the devs could make Touhou LostWord good or at least decent. The thing is, they don't want to.
