Member types

Youkai - Bit of an unofficial role; the label's given to unverified users. They cannot download nor interact with the website and at best can request help in the discord.

Onshi - Generic use, given to everyone who is verified.. Title can be changed.

Shrine Maiden - Originally Contributor, this is automatically given to Onshi that have 5 or more approved files. They no longer require approval for files to be uploaded.

Kannushi - Staff member. They help the website by adding, removing, and warning users. Title can be changed.

Shrine God - Owners of the website, Nitorium and spagnips. The can do everything; even shut down the site (lol). Unknown if title is changeable, but none of the users with this type have tried to.

 

[No Account Name Idea]

When I first read the title, I somehow assumed that this was for categorizing people on this website by their actions or personalities like:
-People who only download the games and never speak on the forums,
-People who create works (fanfiction, music, drawings),
-People who focus on Touhou-related research,
-People who do not play Touhou,
and so on.

Also, I personally haven't seen anyone with the Kannushi title yet.

"Kannushi" replaced the pre-2025 forum role of "Contributor," which (if I recall correctly) used to be assigned to those approved to upload files. At some point this functionality became a more general one, but presumably the assignment remains as a potential indicator of those who were more specifically responsible.

Which reminds me that I ought to reupload some of the missing contributions that didn't survivive the transfer . . .

It's more of trusted, known individuals at this point, everyone can post resources nowadays so it's more of a title for acknowledging trust with what you post.
(Oh yeah, Kannushi replaced the site editor role, i'm mainly talking about the contributor one. Nowadays it's being a shrine maiden, isn't that cute?)
