Touhou 20 OSTs possibly being removed from YouTube

By the way, there were copyright strikes on SoundCloud uploads of official Touhou ost since at least late April

Japanese Channel Katukunazawa has deleted their black background youtube videos for the Hifuu Club CDs.

Kurayamanawa suspects it's a deletion and not a strike due to the deletion pattern.

I know, this is practically beating a dead horse at this point, but if anything, it seems the Japanese Scene is gradually deleting such videos on their end either to honor the terms or for their own safety, or both.

Edit 2:

Rokko's Extensions' "Endorsed" channel, DangoBunny also got new nukes.

Granted, this is now available in Team Shanghai Alice - Topic, but yes, it is still a strike.

Meh, for now I don't think such thing may happen. But if Ruw somehow made a deal with Baidu or Bilibili, then it is sad.

Classic. That is what regularly happens after each new game release.
:Sanae:

I would say that each Japanese, Chinese and Western communities have nearly no idea what happens in other communities.
It would be really good if Chinese community would be prepared too. In ideal case, Japanese fans also should see that their fanworks are in danger too, but a lot of work is required for this.
I would say that, Japanese will not agree with any practice that is illegal in their country. Piracy is worst thing you could do to franchise because it means you are disrespecting the franchise by consuming it in a way you are not supposed to.
Without TLMC many touhou doujin songs would have gone forever, I support those practice of respectful sharing and archiving.
Maybe you can convince them to allow the repost of picture because they aren't really illegal in term of laws. but that's about it,
They have zero clues what's going on or "why westerner are angry", they don't try to communicate it at all and all copyright strikes are justified because they're just cleaning the "criminals" off internet.

Well, sadly the laws are so strict there towards such things

That reminds me "魔法使いと二次創作とリスペクト" presentation. "Respect" is so vague thing, some people view derivative works as no respect and there is no strict definition for "respect". For me simplifying the way of getting digital products especially for the ones who don't have opportunity to buy them is showing respect for the creators as more people would be able to learn about their work.

Agree

From what I know for Ruw such things are illegal.
They have zero clues what's going on or "why westerner are angry", they don't try to communicate it at all and all copyright strikes are justified because they're just cleaning the "criminals" off internet.
I know this and it is sad.

I love the entire argument that Japan is that super strict country where it's against piracy and being forced to do so, that the sperg outs when it comes to copyright is within the country's nature. But when I saw that there's a a lot of healthy communities around romhacking in Japan (for example, mega man) and learned that Transformers gets pirated here all the time like it's tradition, because the actual Japanese dubs are terrible. Makes me believe that most of you never actually bother going their space, or at the very least, hearing both sides from them, yes there are. Like I said before, somewhere, that 90% of the Japanese were supportive of Pocket Pair when they got sued by Nintendo, even going as far as calling others for their ignorant statements like "it's in their right since they broke it, right?", that kind of dumbest words you could ever think of. Or what about at the time where ZUN downplayed this situation by claiming that he's a "doujin" artist and not a indie one when someone asked the question related to Pocket Pair, the one who (allegedly) stole assets and copypaste codes from other sources saying this is very ironic, isn't it? Which he was also called out for.

Look, I'm not claiming that I know them better, but I do have knowledge when it comes to Japan, mostly by accident and coincidence.
Keep that in mind that Twitter is worthless to begin with (damn what did I heard this before).

This person made a Youtube post (I'm ignoring some parts for this discussion) claiming that Touhou 20 remixes are being taken down. If this is true, and I'm not sure as I can still easily search for them, then it would mark a turning point, as not only will Touhou Fan Content Guidelines be enforced, but even things that I do not believe explicitly break them.

Edit: Yeah, I can still see people uploading Touhou 20 Music to YouTube, and the prediction tracks are back up. Not to beat any dead horses, but is there a reason Touhou 20 uploads were removed in 2025 and not before? If the answer is on Twitter, I can't see it because I don't have that app.
