Touhou lost media

Update on 月刊ナイトバグ (Monthly Nightbug) and まんがイースタン

I have decided to check on those axfc.net links again, and I have found most of the links are now able to download the files. Yep, a solution to download axfc.net is to wait, and then somehow the servers will be able to serve the files correctly? Anyway, the pdfs that I have been able to download have been archived on Internet Archive.

IA: 月刊ナイトバグ (Monthly Nightbug)

IA: まんがイースタン

If you check out the Internet Archive links, you will also find which pdfs still need to be downloaded from axfc.net. As for the CORRUPTED notice for the last issue of 月刊ナイトバグ (May 2011), it appears that the corruption issue relates to axfc.net given that axfc.net gives a different MD5 hash on the online file info compared to the downloaded file. However, this is the first time I have encountered a file that is able to be downloaded from axfc.net that was corrupted, so hopefully this is an temporary issue.

Interesting. I don't know how it works, but maybe it works like that

It is strange. Maybe yes, it is a temporary issue.

I have discovered the work the title of this Youtube video is referencing after I looked back on the earliest issues of Bunbunmaru Extra. Gensokyo TV is a short manga by Fenrizero & Habrock Starling that had three chapters published across BBEX #2 and BBEX #3, and indeed, the first chapter is about Touhoupardy. View attachment 5702

Thank you for this finding. Added.

In addition, recently I found out that another meme gameplay video was hidden. Its name is "Most unhinged UFO run". Sadly, I don't remember who posted it.

東方花火祭 (Touhou Kahosai)

Thhhjcover.jpg

This game has a entry on the Touhou Wiki and THB Wiki, yet outside of the fact the game released back in 2009 for ComicDive 2 and was created by the group EFZClub, there not a lot of records online about what the game is, so I decided to do some digging.

According to a 2009 Chinese forum post about this game, the way the description describes the game makes it likely 東方花火祭 it is a Touhou parody of Meteos, a well-regarded matching puzzle battler game released on the Nintendo DS.

As for the group, EFZClub, it appears this was a Chinese group active from 2005 - 2011, which was involved in ACG culture with a forum that discussed on topics of games, light novels, doujin, etc. There is a subforum for 東方花火祭, but unfortunately Internet Archive was unable to archive the forum posts themselves, and forum titles aren't very helpful in figuring more information about this game.

Aside from that, KyoriAsh was involved in both the EFZClub forums and Touhou Wiki, being the user who created the Touhou Wiki entry for 東方花火祭 in the first place.

Great finding. There is no surprise that such old games are lost nowadays. Maybe it is possible to find it somewhere (sadly, I couldn't find it). I won't be surprised if PigeonVoyageur makes a video about this game.

Added to the list.

ARCardiaZero

This is a mobile app that used AR technology on specific cards produced by Scarlet Agents. Now, neetpia's app trailer reports this app was supposed to release on August 14th, 2016 for both Android and iOS. However, it has been taken off from the Google Play Store, likely because when the app was released, it was called "ARCardiaZero" to reference being a beta version according to Scarlet Agents's Twitter post. Yet, no farther developments or updates on this app were mentioned after this beta release from both neetpia and Scarlet Agents.

This poses an issue, as while the android app's id has been found (com.Toho.ARCardiaZero), looking up this app on the usual apk websites only have entries for this app, but not downloads for this app. As for the iOS version, it seems likely it was planned to be release, but it appears the android version was released first due to Google Play Store's reduced store fees.

Anyway, I leave this post with copy of ARCardiaZero's Google Play description.

Hello. Thank you for your information, but the original post seems to be dead. It will take some time to restore it.

Are there even that many Touhou games out there? I'm not sure there even sure there is that many Touhou games released at doujin events.
Anyway, that is an impressive amount of games, but I do have to ask what is going to be your method to release all these games? With much data, it is ideal that download methods are accessible and long-lasting, hence my questioning.

By the way, what types of Touhou games are in that archive? Does it span from early 2000s all the way up to 2025? Does this include web browser, Flash, and Java games? RPGMaker? Danmakufu? Any inclusion of the Touhou Game Jams? How about games from Korea?

Speaking of which, how will the archive be organized? Is it by alphabet order? Or does it do more complex organization via year of release or playable platform?

With that said, I am quite interested in this release, as there are some Touhou games that are on the main Lost Media post that have not been found yet.

So far, I have released 3700 games through China Mobile Cloud Drive, and now I am organizing the remaining 2000 or so games that my friends have given me (with duplicate parts removed) These games have not been released yet. I know some foreigners can't access the Chinese network, but another friend sent me a 5TB Microsoft cloud disk. If someone can't access it, I may have to consider uploading it to Microsoft cloud disk. The posts that have been published so far are as follows:

The Last One Include R18 Content
(Sorry, according to the law, I must encrypt pornographic content, and the password is ⑨)

Unfortunately, apart from official works, I can confirm that the earliest fan works appeared in 2004 (perhaps I have earlier ones, but I don't know), including the latest games from 2025. Game types include web games, flash,RPGmaker,NES, In short, I have saved all the games that I can try to run locally in the event of a network outage. Of course, Game Jam is also included as much as possible. There are not many games in Korea, but I have collected as much as possible through the wiki.

Regarding the organization of archives, I used "SnapHTML". If you need to find a certain game, you can first search on the snapshot and then enter the corresponding folder. I will place approximately 40-50 games in each folder. I use the "everything" software to search, and it searches for millions of files with results in half a second.

In addition, considering that some players do not have a runtime environment, I have also uploaded many runtime libraries and simulators.

I think there should be around 10000 officially released games in various Touhou fan activities (sorry, I'm short of money and haven't been able to buy all the ones currently on sale on DLsite Booth Steam). If we include all the informal games that include Touhou elements, personal creations, and low-quality game clips made with Danmaku and RPGmaker, then there should be around 20000. In short, collecting these games is still a long and arduous task.

Baidu is still acting as a roadblock to downloads, so it would be good if these games were on the Microsoft cloud disk.

Since I can't download the archive and search though them, I want to know to extent this archive has for Touhou games. Here is a list of Touhou games that I believe are hard to find normally today.

- もやし物語 (Moyashi Monogatari) - A "Cave Story" game released only on the creator's website
- アリスのドキドキ人形ラブトレイン (Alice's Doki Doki Doll Love Train) - A game released only at Touhou Station Game Jams.
- Nightmare of Weakest Creature - A game released for the Touhou Game Jams that has since been taken down.
- 스쿠나 교전록 - A shooter featuring Sukuna. This game was only released at Korean doujin events.
- 환상탄막무쌍 - Another Touhou game only released at Korean doujin events.
- Games by doujin circle Alomarron - Their games involved the quiz genre.
- 東方花火祭 (Touhou Kahosai) - A Meteos-like game from China.

I would like to know if any of these games exist in your archive, as a way to gauge the limits the archive faces on archiving all Touhou games.

7 games you mention I only have 1,2,3. Considering the speed limit of Baidu Netdisk, I did not put the game there, there is only a list of files with a size of 500KB. I put all the game data on China Mobile Cloud Drive (please see the BBS link in my post), which is free and has no speed limit.

This is the link for the archive on the China Cloud Drive, correct?

Unfortunately, I can't download from this cloud service as it needs an account, which requires a phone number to register. The phone numbers I have provided so far don't work, which suggests a geolocation restriction on phone numbers from regions of China. Would it be possible to provide a text file on the list of files on the archive.

Anyway, thanks for answering my questions. I'm glad to see this archive has remain keenly aware on the game jams and taken steps to acknowledge Japanese games outside of the usual digital distribution platforms. Though, lost games and games without any digital distribution, are weaknesses of the archive.

Okay, I haven't finished my work yet (including deduplication and saving web games, which are painful, technical, and time-consuming tasks). When I finish these tasks and upload them to Microsoft Cloud Drive(I think everyone in the world is able to access Microsoft Cloud Drive, right?), I will notify you. I want to complete it before April. Also, if it's convenient for you, please share this message with others. I believe the more people download and save Touhou games, the less likely they are to be lost.

@ciweiandmao Best of luck with the transfer to the Microsoft Cloud Disk. If I’m correct about the software used here, I believe OneDrive allows users to download without an account, making the archive accessible.
I be sure to pass the message about this archive to other people as soon as the archive finishes its data transfer to the Microsoft cloud disk.

Hello. I would like to announce that the list was restored.
In addition there is a mirror on MotK in case something bad would happen.
Thank you all for giving new information!

I am bit concerned that this cloud disk isn't returning search results for any the files. Since this archive doesn't contain any meta information about the games, go though the archive itself to look for a Touhou game one wants to play is not possible. Instead, one would have look up a game's entry on the internet and then search up the game's title on the archive, hoping that the game is in the archive, and then download the game from there.

Also, would it be possible to sort the game jams games into their own collection? As a part of game jams, they're going outnumber normal games by a lot, making it more difficult to look for a regular game if one decided to explore directly on the archive's file system.

Now, the website is almost complete, you can enter the Discord group chat: https://discord.gg/wK6wTB5aE3 Understand how to register an account and download, and provide overseas streaming (speaking and urging channel owners to work). I have actually uploaded everything to Microsoft Cloud Drive, but the website owner is concerned about Microsoft's censorship system, which only allows public website downloads. In addition, in response to the DMCA Act (and moral condemnation from other touhou enthusiasts), we plan to stop downloading games currently on sale (replacing them with store links). Anyway, I've been very tired these past few days.
