Description
Light of Torifune Shrine is a one-shot action scroller inspired by the Green Trojan Asteroid story from Touhou. The game takes place inside the dark, abandoned Torifune Satellite. You control a guiding light with your mouse, leading Maribel and Renko through obscure and unpredictable passages. As the light, your task is to protect them from the dangers lurking in this forgotten space habitat—otherwise their journey will meet a sudden end. But don’t worry: Maribel can dream of visiting Torifune with Renko as many times as she wants. Keep them safe through this space-jungle labyrinth and uncover the mysteries buried deep within the satellite.

For the best experience, I strongly recommend downloading the game.
The browser version works, but some performance issues may occur depending on your device.
This project was born from the idea of reviving an old microgame from the discontinued Nitorinc: Touhou Microgames project. When the game went on hiatus, many concepts never had the chance to be played. As a member of a team, I originally proposed a Maribel & Renko microgame set in Torifune Shrine, then called Girl’s Survival Club. I later contacted the team’s musician, IceWrenSolstice, to reuse her original track, and rebuilt everything from scratch—assets, code, effects, animations, and gameplay.
Initially I conceived it as a microgame and light-normal-specular map experiment but as I kept working, the project grew larger and larger, and eventually I decided to turn it into a standalone one-shot game rather than a simple microgame. Wren also composed a new track for the main menu, and I added new enemies, mechanics, and visual improvements. The final result brings to life my long-held idea of seeing Maribel and Renko walking through the abandoned halls of the Torifune Satellite. It took a lot of time and effort, but I’m truly happy to finally see it fulfilled.
Huge thanks to IceWrenSolstice for her support, and thank you so much for playing my game! I hope that one day we may hear new updates from Nitorinc.
