How did you even meet Touhou?

Hey everyone.
I discovered the Touhou game series about a year and a half ago. It all started when I saw a meme featuring Cirno... I just wanted to know where it came from, and somehow I found myself getting interested. I started with EoSD—I just downloaded it to have something to play after school—but I really enjoyed it. Later on, I beat Perfect Cherry Blossom and Imperishable Night. It’s supposed to be hardcore, but for some reason, that kind of difficulty actually relaxes me. So, yeah—that’s how it went.

I haven't played anything else for a long time. I previously uninstalled Steam because I couldn't stand the updates, the high system requirements for my old PC, and simply because I’d grown tired of games... until I discovered Touhou. It runs smoothly, doesn't lag, isn't demanding, doesn't force updates, and doesn't bombard you with tabs full of "special offers" and "friends" the way Steam does.

The bullet hell genre itself was something new to me; I’d never played games like this before. I like it—I like the difficulty, the setting, the characters... I just like it, and there’s nothing more to say. After all, games are supposed to provide enjoyment—freely, right here and now. So, how did you get introduced to the Touhou series?
 
I came to Touhou through various musical arrangements.
I don't really remember what one specifically got me into it (at least some those though were the Bad Apple PV, a now taken-down reupload of an orchestral version of Bad Apple by Sully Orchestration, and a couple other various non-Bad Apple arrangements) but it was more of a gradual process for me.
The year I got into Touhou was 2024, sometime around July-October of that year.
At the time, I was getting bored of mundane anime, and I had pretty much watched everything I liked by that time (I had already started watching anime 2 years earlier), so at some point, I came across various Touhou music arrangements (as I was already looking for other music to listen to as well).
I started listening to them, and I eventually across more information about it, which made me delve into some of the characters and then I found out that all the music I was listening to were in fact arrangements. And so, I looked up what the first theme in the games were (which must've made me come across something about EoSD) and I listened to EoSD's stage 1 theme before finding various other Touhou themes.
Inevitably, I came to understand that "Touhou" was, in fact, a game series. So, I looked up about those games and eventually came across this site.
And, I guess, to some extent or another, the rest is history.
Anyway, sorry for the long reply. lol
Just to make sure you know, aside from Bad Apple, and a couple other ones, I didn't really get into the Touhou animations all that much. I still haven't watched all of the really popular animations.
But, to summarize, my entry into Touhou was a pretty gradual process. I was also into some other things at that time, so my entry into Touhou largely was slow.

"Bad Apple" is a classic. I don't remember where I first heard it before getting into Touhou. A lot of people have probably heard it, even those unfamiliar with the series. If I'm not mistaken, the original version is from Stage 2 of Lotus Land Story.
 
I discovered Touhou through Rensenware.
I heard of a piece of malware that would lock your computer up until you could reach a certain score, and that it was incredibly difficult.
Finding the pull of a challenge appealing, I had installed the game; needless to say, I was not up to the challenge.
And I have been hooked on the games and community since.

Я тоже что-то об этом слышал, но не помню подробностей. В то время я просто подумал: «Это игра — ты проходишь её, чтобы разблокировать компьютер».

It was some malware that would encrypt your files until you were able to score 200 million on Touhou 12 Lunatic

I think it's possible I could've come across Bad Apple years ago already. No sure way to really know though as it's long left my memory.
 
I was looking to watch some japanese styled animations until i stumbled upon one of Mirae Somang's animations, then i watched few more, and then i completely forgot what happened next that i got into Touhou

Mirae Somang's Touhou animations are, to me, some of the best there are, so I think you started out in a pretty good place.

I discovered it by listening to a parody of U.N Owen Was Her, I was curious so i searcched up the original song and I liked it a lot. I soon found out it was a Touhou song, i saw the youtuber Dross play it and thought it looked cool, so i tried it.
 
My first exposure to Touhou was through a remix of Desire Drive that I found on youtube and really enjoyed. I've known about Touhou for quite awhile but I never really understood about the series and it's characters until recently and started playing the games and reading the printworks. I feel like I was missing out on one of the best series every created.

One of first exposures to Touhou was a remix of Desire Drive as well.
I think it was by Akatsuki Records. Another one I had found was by Hachimitsu-Lemon.

Ah. I just looked for the Akatsuki Records song again, and it's actually a remix of Yoshika and Seiga's themes.
Still, the Hachimitsu-Lemon one still stands as among the first Touhou arranges I came across.
