Are there any girls in the Touhou community?

This is a bit off-topic, but it'd be impossible for me to see Touhou characters as "waifus". Just seems stupid to me to see them in that way.
I see them as characters who are interesting in their personalities and designs.
Though, I suppose I'm just an outlier among many things.
(Still, two of the reasons I love Touhou's characters is because I'm a sucker for cute stuff, and for non-human beings, even if they look human. lol)

while there is a few who only like touhou and its characters for... "gooner" purposes (which saddens me) im sure the majority of people who have a touhou waifu genuinely care about the character and touhou, cause if you like a character and how they look, why wouldnt you want to learn more about them and what their source material is like?

companion I would save the Watatsuki bloodline with Toyohime with zero hesitation

Hi everyone again. Are there any female Touhou fans? Girls, if you're here, please drop a line...
Who are your favorite characters?
Favorite parts?
Do you actually exist?
i exist, just invisible behind the curtains. My favorite character is definitely Junko and my fav games are IN, SA and LOLK. I'm playing only on Lunatic, done some L1CC (IN, EoSD, SA) and i'm lesbian, thats why i got even more hooked with touhou kekw

I haven't really heard anyone call a Touhou character their waifu seriously. Though I have a friend who fits this description, he was a huge fan of a Fate character only because they looked attractive, completely glossing over their story both in-game and what's mirrored from real life.
I don't doubt this kind of moron exists in the Touhou fandom, but I'd bet they're probably the Reddit/Xitter user kind of person.

I hate it when people do that almost more than anything.
When I get into a work, I get into it because of it's story, lore, world, and characters. I can't really get into a character unless I like the backstory to that character and/or the world they live in.
That's one of the main reasons I like so many of the Touhou characters. Yes, part of it is because I like their designs, but other parts are also because I like a character's personality, or their role in Touhou and their powers/abilities.
An example would be with Yukari. Her design is recognizable and fits her as a Touhou character, but the way she also connects to Gensokyo and the lore, and how her character is mysterious and contradictory is what appeals to me even more about her. (Not to mention that her ability to create gaps in space is really interesting and cool.)

well, the thing is, most reasons people like touhou dont necessarily have anything to do with gender. its not really a "male" or "female" thing to like it for the music, or the lore, or even the gameplay. although i think the main reason there are more male than female fans has to do with "waifus".

as we all know, touhou mostly consists of girls. and since the whole "waifu" epidemic is male dominated, and since touhou has almost 200 characters that are girls, sounds like paradise for people who are into the waifu thing. of course this doesnt mean there arent females who also like having waifus, but with waifu culture being mostly a male audience touhou attracts those kinds of people.

so i dont really think that male and female touhou fans are that different. we all like touhou for the same reasons, but for some there might be a few additional ones other than something like the games or music.
I agree that Touhou isn't catered to one side or another, and I don't see why I should argue that. At the end of day, it doesn't matter why someone likes Touhou. As long they're not a moron. Rather, I should've said "What tends to be popular inside the series with female Touhou fans" instead. It's more precise that way and directly goes in the question I had yesterday.

In that case, what do you think?

i cant really speak for female fans in general cause i dont know that many that are for sure female. but other than reasons that everybody likes touhou for, maybe because of representation? i've never seen another series with this many females in it before. so i'd say it feels nice to play as characters that you can relate to just a bit more.

For now, I guess it remains a bit of a mystery. However, that does help to put into perspective.

Internet Footprint, everyone

I'm no better. While I wouldn't be the one to ask this question out loud (for a reason dawg), there are definitely girls into Touhou. However, there's something maybe @Buwako or @BrokenSubconscious could answer to help the question. What makes Touhou attractive to a girl? Men like Touhou for many reasons but, what differs for the fellow girlies💅? What similarities and differences there are between male and female Touhou fans?
Goodness, I could go on and on about my love of Touhou; but here's just a few reasons. I absolutely love the games, I sometimes play for hours on end dying over and over, and each time I do I can't help but feel I'm learning how to do better next time. And the music is amazing, not just the original music from the games but there are so many doujin works out there that I listen to constantly, in all genres from rock to ballads and lullabies. The characters too! They're so interesting, each one has their own personalities and lore that I spend tons of time reading about on the wiki, or getting to know better through the games and mangas. And of course connected to each character is such interesting lore! I especially love the stories about the Moon and it's inhabitants, I just find it all so interesting.
So, why do I love touhou? To put it simply, because it's wonderful!! I don't think any form of media should be described as a "guy thing" or a "girl thing". Everyone can enjoy things that people might only think applies to one gender! Like Touhou for the danmaku, like Touhou for the music, like Touhou for the characters! Whatever you find amazing about this amazing series, take it and run with it, and don't let anybody stop you! :MokouDance:
