Neko Youkai Meijin
So, to those of you who remember my other two Touhou fangame concepts (Blooming Rain in Eden and Eternal Winter of Midsummer Snow), I've made another game concept. But unlike the other ones, this one is quite different. For one thing, the other two are danmaku games, but this one I would imagine to possibly be either a visual novel or 2D exploration type game.
This game's story also takes place before any of the official games. It takes place in 1945, during the previous 60-year-cycle before PoFV.
The game follows a girl who died during one of the bombing raids on Japan and she came to possess a forgotten doll in Gensokyo. I'm not exactly sure what the further story would be about, but I imagine that she would go around and explore Gensokyo and overall get caught up in the incident while searching for her dead sister whom died alongside her. She'd meet both familiar and unfamiliar Gensokyoan faces (including a predecessor shrine maiden to Reimu).
Eventually, she'd reunite with her sister and abandon the doll body which she possessed and cross the Sanzu River.
I think much of the story would be a personal journey for the girl as she would come to terms with her own death and would probably have some elements of horror mixed in.
I got the idea for this from Komachi's pre-battle conversation with Medicine in Medicine's story route from PoFV, in which Komachi mentions how souls sometimes possess dolls.
