I have the same issue with touhou 9 right now and it sucks because it's probably my favorite game.

Just recently played the game they are from. Enjoyed getting to play as Ran.

I'm a big fan of Touhou 9 but it's not the traditional touhou experience but it was my first step into the bullet hell side of Touhou. Imperishable Night (Touhou 8) has great characters and themes. I;ve heard Touhou 13- Ten Desires is also a good place to start but I don't know how true that is...
