    Can't speak much on UFO since I haven't played it, but DDC is good fun for the most part. There's a bunch of broken shot types that trivialize the game, and the central mechanic is pretty engaging.

    if all next PCE star soldier entries reduce power only by a single level and allow to sorta save yourself with veeery limited supply of bombs, this one straight up drops you by like 3 power levels on getting hit

    especially hudson shmups, these allow me to set my speed to max and then spend entire game constantly zapping from one side of screen to other
