  1. A misspelling of my nickname, and just repeating the last 3 letters 2 times That's it, really
  2. Oni Kage Pink was ok, the best part for me was the PV for it They absolutely massacred Konngara tho, poor her
  3. How about trying out T98-Next? That's the PC98 emulator that I have been using ever since I first got into Touhou and it's smooth as hell, not to mention that it doesn't have audio problems like Neko 2
  4. 1. Daio Ye Zhong - The Second Performance: Curse Deity Hm. I don't know what I feel about this one. It feels very samey, and it didn't stick in my head at all after finishing it. I don't like this type of songs, where the vocals are like that. I don't even know what the original song is here. 4/10 2. C-CLAYS - The moon which was swallowed to a wolf Pretty funky, I like the usage of Japanese instruments. And that square wave lead is pretty nice as well! 8/10 3. UNDEAD CORPORATION - Kushinada-hime Aaah, Undead Corporation. Not my cup of tea, since I don't listen to metal, but they're still neat. I do like the uhh.. I don't actually know what's it called in English, when the main part of the song comes. It has nice vocals there. 6.5/10
  5. Wasn't Alice also specified to be a somewhat important character? "According to ZUN's comments in the Music Room of Perfect Cherry Blossom, Alice is kind of a special character in the Touhou Project. ' I really, REALLY want Alice to make a return. She was last playable in Hisoutensoku in general, and as for danmaku, she was only playable in IN. I am totally not biased because Alice is my favorite character. Nope. xd
  6. Pretty awesome eh? I'm speculating that the characters are gonna all be animal themed, since the japanese title translates to "Beast King Garden" But I do still hope for Alice as a playable character
  7. https://touhou-project.news/news/8892/ I fucking predicted it
  8. I keep forgetting about this 1. Shinra-Bansho - Song of Companion Holy shit, why does this song remind me of Raspberry Heaven (Ending song for Azumanga Daioh)? I'm not complaining tho, this is a very calming song, I like it a lot! 8/10 2. GET IN THE RING - ⑨melodies It's pretty, but it didn't really resonate with me, probably because I don't really listen to stuff like this. 7/10 Shoutout to Tenkko for actually liking Eternal Underworld (とこしえの黄泉) lmao, now I don't feel alone in this world
  9. 1. EastNewSound - Cardiac Sound Oooh, I love this style. There's something about music like this that makes me feel so nostalgic. I'm really bad with word so I don't know how else to explain how I'm feeling But overall, a pretty chill song for me, ironic considering that it's probably supposed to be energetic and stuff! But tbh, it didn't really stuck with me now that I finished listening it, but I do like the rising "chords". But if it did get into my Youtube mix playlist, I wouldn't skip it. 8/5 3. Noah - The Capital City of Flowers in the Sky Bleh... Not a big fan of metal overall, and I have a feeling that PCB Stage 4 theme is the last song that needs a metal arrangement, it's too calm for metal. Also repetitive. 4.5/10 2. MA.S ATTACK - Akutagawa Ryuunosuke's Kappa Okay, I won't rate this one, which is why I put it the last here. I LOVE ambient music, this one is perfect. When I heard it in Megafrog's Iceberg video, I was hooked from the start. I can imagine myself walking around my town at night, where there is no one outside (since my town is small). This one has a sense a mystery imo, the ending part is especially my favorite, where Nitori's theme shines through, and the bass gets more prominent. Absolute perfection, it's like the cherry on top for me. Also... Well now I gotta try this out.
  10. Sorry for being late!! 1. C-CLAYS - Rest in Dark Night ..This is an Oriental Dark Flight arrangement? ODF is one of my fav Marisa themes, but this sure as hell didn't sound like ODF to me. It's energetic, yes, but... Idk.. I don't like the style of it at all... And this is coming from someone who likes speedy music and stuff like that. This didn't resonate with me at all. 3/10 2. Virus Key - 氷精たちの踊り Uuuoooh... I like this a lot hehe I used to listen to a lot of classical music when I was little, so this feels quite nostalgic. I love waltzes in general, so this was a treat i should learn minute waltz by schopen still Absolutely amazing, it's so nice and relaxing to listen to 10/10 3. O-Life Japan - Dawn Sky of the Myouren Temple This one is also amazing, I already like O-Life Japan because of TLW, but this was just incredible. Upbeat, but magnificent, maybe just like Byakuren herself eh? Anyways, another easy 10/10, I'm so entranced by this...
  11. 1. Tsubaki - Artemis Wept Oohh, those bells at the beginning~ They sound really nostalgic. Oh man, I really did not expect that this is gonna be a death metal-esque? song, especially those male vocals. I expected to song to be kinda chill, with female vocals, of which I was only right about the latter. It's a unique song, I like it, but ig the death metal vocals kind of dilute the song for me? I don't really like them. I like how the song sounds wintery tho, and the female vocals are amazing. 7.5/10 2. Lycoris - Hammersmith in the Sky Alrighty, time for this one.. I'll write the review as I'm listening to it. Ooooh yeah, rock. I really like this so far. The slow intro, the 4 by 4 beat, the bass. It has a cozy feeling! And then the Greenich theme hit with the organ sounding instrument. Real nice! The phasers are awesome as well ehehehe I just wish it kinda changed in structed, and not stayed similar. But the mental image the song gives me is great! A recording studio with red and orange colors, pretty cozy! 8/10 3. MA's ATTACK - Hartmann's Youkai Girl Hah, I kept giggling through all your comments about this song , but I do kinda admit that maybe it's weird to post this in a remix tournament? Idk /shrug Anyways, how do I rate this without being biased, since it's one of my fav Touhou arranges? I really like this song, it reminds me of some Silent Hill tracks, the one that especially comes to mind is "Alone in the Town", from Silent Hill 2. I guess that it can get a bit repetitive, but to me, what I like to do with an ambient song is just put it in the background while drawing, or hanging out. There are rare time where I do put this to *actively* listen to it, and it's usually when it's snowing or like in 2 in the morning , so yeah. It's a very nostalgic sound for me, ever since I knew about myself, I'd love songs that are like this. Now to grade it... hm. Well, as I'm trying to stay unbiased, and judge it as if it's my first time listening to it, I'd rate this one also an 8/10, or maybe an 8.5/10. It can get repetitive, like I said, but the sound and feeling is what matters to me the most.
  12. I always thought it was her smiling with her mouth open, like this:
  13. Well, I am a part that thinks there are 3 Windows eras: Windows Era 1 (Or Classic Era): EoSD to StB Windows Era 2 (Or Modern 1): MoF to UFO Windows Era 3 (Or Modern 2): TD to Present Technically maybe GFW would be the start of Modern 2? I noticed that in that game, the characters speak in speech bubbles and bosses have the circle healthbar, something which appeared in the newer engine of Windows games, and TD onwards is like that. So technically, if we were to look at engines, I'd classify the eras like this. WE1 or the Classic Era engine has the line healthbar, no auto collect at start, textbox dialogue and has the 128 power system. The games that are in that engine are: EoSD, PCB, IN, PoFV, StB. WE2 or Modern 1 has the same line healthbar and textboxes, but has the 4.0 power system and always has autocollect. Games there are: MoF, SA, UFO, DS. WE3 or Modern 2 has the circle healthbars, speech bubbles and I also remember that the items are maybe easier to get in that engine? It's like the items magnet to you, can't remember about WE2 tho. Anyways, games there are: GFW, TD, DDC, ISC, LoLK, HSiFS, VD, WBaWC, UM, HBM. It's weird for me to start a generation with a spinoff tho, so I just say TD instead of GFW.
  14. 1. Silver Forest - Keep the Faith OOOOOO I like this one a lotttt It sounds really dreamy, but energetic, maybe like being half asleep? But it's really good! I like the vocals, and I especially like the sparkly sounding instrument for the main melody!! It reminds me of old 2000s anime songs! Also that piano is so goooood, aah~ 9.5/10 2. IRON ATTACK! - Sturm und Drang Mmmm... I'm kinda indifferent to this one... It's not really my style. But I do like the use of traditional japanese instruments here! 6.5/10 3. Akatsuki Records - Gray Zone Hello, this is the part where I kill you! -the whole touhou fandom after reading this, probably (i hope someone gets the reference) I see I have met Stack again... hoo boy.. I'll be honest. I do not like a lot of Akatsuki Records songs. I do not like Stack's vocals. But the instrumentals are nice tho. It's a shame really, this song is so funky, it's nice. But I do not like how Stack sounds like she's forcing a certain "persona?" while singing every. single. time. And I don't like how she's trying to "rap"(?) while there's a pause between verses. Even while listening to other AkaRecord songs (that I like btw), it took me a LONG time to actually get to start listening to them without cringing, so there's that... I'm sorry, but I have to give this one a 4/10. I love the instrumental, it's so good, but the vocals are Stack... At least the chorus is okay...
  15. Oh damn, this whole thing reads like a shitpost, hahah Bro is really malding over how the games are easier huh? Some of these takes are absolutely abysmal... >PC98 reception was abysmal, selling less than 1000 copies My brother in christ, did you perhaps think about how Zun was making bullet hells for a system which had eroge as the primary games? It's not the reception that was abysmal, but rather how known it was. >mentions HRtP, says the next game is PoDD, doesn't even MENTION SoEW, which is the FIRST bullet hell game in the series >says that SA was cheesable, I understand MoF (Marisa B exists), but SA... >says that the UFOs were the best mechanic >sAYS THAT UM IS THE LEAST REPLAYABLE GAME I get that this person is passionate about Touhou, I am as well, but damn, this whole doc seems a bit nitpicky. Some of you may know that I adore the PC98 and the Classic Win era of the games, and that I don't like Modern era 1 and 2, so I may be a bit biased, but I can also say with confidence that the newer games aren't hot garbage. I did not like HSiFS and WBaWc at first, but now, I love them a lot. The atmosphere is great, the songs are good, even though it took them a bit to grow on me. but they are NOT garbage. They still have loveable characters and I think that Keiki's theme is one of the most popular in modern Windows final boss themes. The part about UM is pure garbage as well. The game is really fun, and it's so fun to make card combos. Idk if me and that guy played the same game. > 100th Black Market is pure dogshit. Wh, how? It's genuinely the most fun I had with a Touhou game in a while!! Yeah, the RNG can be a bit of a headache, but goddamn, it's fun!! The waves are fun, it feels good to graze, what the hell?! Not to mention the hilarious Fumo section HOW CAN YOU MESS UP THAT BAD?!?!? A simple research would've net correct results!! Gift/AngelType made Fumos, Nendoroids are made by fucking GOODSMILE!!!! If the person who made this doc made it with the itention to be a ragebait post, they did a good job, because I lost so many braincells due to this post that it's insane.
  16. Alright, time to review these 3! 1. KISIDA KYODAN & THE AKEBOSI ROCKETS - Beautiful Diver A really funky arrangement! I like the rhythm it has. The vocals weren't my thing at first, but as the song went on, they grew on me. The only real complaint I have is that I wish that the guitars were a bit quiter, and that the piano was louder, but other than that, it was great! 8.5/10 2. Boga - The Doll Maker of Bucuresti (EoSD Arrange) BOOOOOOOGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love their arrangements so much! They're awesome! And this one is awesome as well! Doll Maker of Bucuresti is slowly starting to be my favorite Touhou song ever made, so the fact that this arrangement makes it sound like it's from my favorite Touhou game ever makes it even better. Only thing is, it does sound kinda empty to me, compared to EoSD's OST at least, could me just me tho. And I do kinda prefer the original to this. ^^; 9/10 3. TATAMI STUGIWO - Dance of the Poisoned Candy Oooh, holy hell, this one's cool as fuck. There's something so nostalgic about Christmas songs to me, and the fact that this song combines some of the most nostalgic sounding Touhou songs (Komachi's theme, Yuuka's theme) with nostalgic Christmassy songs really hits it home. xd I could imagine myself eating cookies and going out in snow while listening to this. 9.5/10
  17. I'm honestly kind of on both sides. I do want people to remember what the canon is, but also some fanon is some of my favorite interpetations of the characters ever, and I guess it all boils down to what the person thinks. The fanon that bugs me the most is Flan and Koishi, with them being portrayed as psychos. Sure, it died down now, but I remember it still being a thing when I joined the fandom back in 2016. I also hate the Alice fanon, with her being my favorite character and all. Yes, she is a bit cold and indifferent to humans in the canon, but don't make her a damn yandere or a r*pist for fucks sake. The type of fanon I like, however, is when they make some characters that seem evil or cold, have a warm side. I guess the Yuuka scene, with her making a flower crown for Cirno is fanon, but goddamn, I love that scene so much, it really subverts the expectations since Yuuka is seen as a cold, troll-y youkai in canon. I love fanworks that depict her having a warmer side as well. I remember finding out that the Yakumos aren't actually that wholesome as I thought. Basically I thought that Yukari cared for Ran and Chen, but it turns out she sees Ran as nothing more than a computer, and when I learned that... I was honestly heartbroken lmao, she even hits Ran with her umbrella sometimes... (yes, this is official material) So yeah, fanon can definitely mix with the canon. I do actually hate some of the character BECUAUSE of their fanon. Koishi is a prime example of this, I got so used to seeing her as a psycho killer (Qu'est-ce que c'est? Fa-fa-fa-fa, fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-far better Run, run, run, run, run, run, run away~) that I keep forgetting how genuinely sad her backstory is, and how... normal she appears in SA EX stage. And when I DO remember that she is like that, I don't hate her. Sanae too, to a degree. She seems like someone who I'd be friends with in canon, while in fanon, she is just annoying, and used mostly in NSFW stuff.
  18. Aaah childhood games.. I love talking about this!! The first ever game I remember playing is Sonic Adventure 1, I remember playing it on the weekends when I was in preschool still, and when I wasn't allowed to be on the PC during the week xddd I have great memories with this game, I used to play a lot of Sonic 1 (8-Bit, I thought it was the 16bit ver and I got confused when I saw it, and I knew emulation was a thing when I was like 6/7 but I didn't know how to do it back then) and Sonic Drift, since I had the Director's Cut. Speaking of Sonic, I had a phase where'd I'd play a lot of ROM hacks, I did that when I was 10/11 I think. My phone was full of ROM hacks hahah, the ones I played the most were Jester's Challenge and Sonic 2 Retro Remix. I also played some other, lesser known games, from a thing called the GameHouse Game Collection. I used to game so hard on that shit, I loved playing Hamsterball, Tap a Jam, Puzzle Inlay, Incredible Ink, and seeing screenshots and hearing music from all those games now makes me feel so nostalgic. Please someone tell me that you played this pack as well, or at the very least Hamsterball Hamsterball has a balling soundtrack as well! Skaven makes awesome tracker stuff. Also Puzzle Inlay's OST goes so fucking hard as well! As a kid, I always wanted to play G-Mod, Portal, Half-Life and other popular games like that but I never got the chance to until now, and that sometimes does make me sad xd
  19. Damn, I haven't replied to this thread either?? Bruh Anyways, this will be a long list, so prepare xd 1. Sonic the Hedgehog This is one of the first games I ever played, so of course I'm going to love it. I was a Sonic fan since I was 5 years old, so I have been a Sonic fan for 10+ years now. My first ever Sonic game was Sonic Adventure 1, and since then, I was hooked xd I'm actually mostly a fan of the older Sonic games, from the Classic era to the Dreamcast era, probably because of how much nostalgia I have from playing those games. I used to play tons of Sonic rom hacks too, which is what inspired me to become a programmer!! 2. Yume Nikki While technically not a series because it's only 1 game, Yume Nikki is a very weird experience, but in a very good way. I first played the game back in 2018, but I got too scared and dropped it (oops), but I picked it up again in 2019 and the rest is history. Yume Nikki did kind of get me through 7th grade, I remember it was May/June, I used to listen to Yume Nikki's music (which were just like what, 10 second loops?) and some Yume Nikki remixes while walking around my schoolyard, it was really relaxing and it's so nostalgic thinking about that now... I especially remember listening to this specific video of the ending theme, the image in that video makes me so nostalgic that it hurts... I recommend Yume Nikki to everyone who likes weird and atmospheric games, it's truly an experience! There are also many Yume Nikki fangames, and I played some of them (From the top of my head: Yume 2kki, .flow, Me, Answered Prayers, Uneven Dream). I will be talking about Yume 2kki for a bit as well, since it's the most popular fangame, and it holds somewhat of a special place in my heart. I first played Yume 2kki in July of 2019, so around 2 months after finishing Yume Nikki. A cool (or not cool) thing about 2kki is that it's made by several people who are all collabing on the game, so it doesn't really have a concrete style. The music in that game is great as well, so many ambient and catchy tracks to choose from! The game is MASSIVE, it took me several weeks to finish it, but it's (somewhat) fun to explore. Also also also.. Considering that it's a collaborative game... I managed to get my drawings in it!!! Another drawing should be added to the game soon as well, however, that drawing was the first ever drawing that I made for this game, so it's quite old (from 2020), but it still looks good! If you decide to play Yume Nikki and the fangames, I recommend to NOT go to the Yume Nikki Online project website, since it's quite buggy imo, so just directly download the game. 3. Celeste Another game that's not really a series but shhhhh Celeste is a really wholesome platforming game that's about Madeline, a woman who climbs both a physical and a metaphorical mountain. The game is hard, but once you get used to the controls, you can glide through the stages really well. The artstyle is amazing as well! I beat the game several times, and I beat Farewell, the 9th chapter which is also the harderst chapter in the game. I also relate to Madeline as well at some parts of the game, and I won't lie when I say that I cried at some dialogue. 4. Portal Finally! A series! Portal is such an amazing game, that it's insane. The gameplay is REALLY fun, the plot (at least in Portal 2) is great and hilarious, I love the characters, I love everything about it. I wanted to play Portal ever since I was a small kid, but it was only this year that I got to play it, and I do not regret it one bit. Portal 2 especially, I did not want that game to end. I love Wheatley, I love GLaDOS, I love Atlas and P-Body... All the characters are so awesome!!! I wish we had combustible lemons... 5. Half-Life Half-Life is rotting my brain and I do not regret it one bit!! Jk, but it's still an amazing game with an amazing plot and characters. The plot actually makes me feel dread when I think about it deeply, and aarghhh there's so much about it that I love!!! Half-Life is also the reason I will be pursuing game art in an university after high school, because looking at Half-Life 2's concept art made me want to cry from how pretty it is xddd Gordon Freeman is a badass, although I do feel poor for the dude, imagine going to work one day only for the world to turn upside down... 6. Doctor Who And now, for a show! I started watching DW in 2020, when the 'rona started, and...........i still haven't finished it heheh But it's a really good series, made me cry, laugh, get angry, it's pretty good! My favorite Doctor is 10, played by David Tennant, and I'm glad that David is also playing the 14th Doctor, but I will always know him as 10, sorry David! xd I have a Tardis shirt and I bought a DW coaster on a con that I went to recently, great show if you like Scifi stuff! Ofc, my interests will change over time, so I'll be sure to edit this post if I remember something!
  20. Oh my god, I'm so sorry this happened to you... Take care of yourself, you were too good for her and she didn't appreciate you at all. It's perfectly fine to not want to be in a relationship at this moment, it's okay and please take as much time as you need to heal. You did nothing wrong, and I hope things go better for you in the future Mevs!
  21. I'm sure Count didn't mean to insult you or anything. I understand why you would see that Jo'on pic as NSFW, I do see images like that NSFW as well, regardless of whether or not they actually contain explicit things, if you know what I mean. And considering I'm a girl as well, it really sometimes rubs me the wrong way that girls are seen the way they are seen. Those 2 videos are interesting, and I am on the both sides. For 1, I do understand piracy for Touhou games, especially the PC-98 ones, and 6,7,8. But I also understand why people are mad at pirates. An interesting thing I noticed is that people are complaining that Steam versions can't be patched. They actually can, idk why people think they can't? THCRAP works perfectly fine on my 18.5 Steam copy. I'll cook up a more lenghty response to this piracy thing later.
  22. What da hell, I never interacted on this thread... Weird I hate how this site is just associated with piracy, I mean, yeah, it is a piracy site most of the time, but I wish people would look to the forum side as well. But also I don't really see a problem with pirating games that aren't on Steam? r/Touhou has and still is smoking something, I don't like them at all. Anyways, ever since I heard of this site (2018), I have been using it (it wasn't until 2020 until I made an account, and 2022 until I started actually being active here), and this year I actually bought a Touhou game, after first pirating it here and deciding I like it (I bought 18.5). And ofc, I'd rather pirate these games than pay, since I am still just a kid, and I don't have a job, but I do plan on buying Touhou games in the future, because I do actually want to support Zun, and I love Touhou. And also, I'd fucking sell my kidneys for copies of 6 to 9.5. Even now, after I have some money because of commissions, I'd rather save and buy games when they're on sale, so there's that as well, I can literally count on my hands how many games I've bought this year, and in general.
  23. Yeah, she made Pigstep! And she also worked on Guild Wars 2, but I haven't checked that out.
  24. You should really play Celeste, it's incredibly fun. It can be a bit hard at times, but once you get the hang of the controls, you can just glide through the stages. I have been playing Celeste for almost 3 years, I completed every stage, including the DLC Chapter 9, which is the hardest chapter in the game (I died around 3000, or more times there :D) So yeah, try it out, the music is great too, Lena Raine knows how to make an amazing soundtrack :3
  25. Yeah, it's definitely alluded that G-Man isn't a human being, considering his powers. Maybe he was a human who got those powers somehow, or a shapeshifter, or something else, we don't know, but that's what I like about him so much :D Celeste is such a cute game :D I love it a lot, the art is really adorable, I love Amora's art, it's so soft and nice.
