  1. Dream of Arcardia now has a post-jam update, so please have a look! Several improvements have been made to the game, including a new mechanic designed to reduce the frustration of having no useful cards, as well as artwork for every card, a new music track, and animations and sounds! Also thank you to @Gou the frog for lending an extra hand in making this update possible! You can get the update by redownloading from the itch.io page: https://buskerdog.itch.io/dreamofarcardia
  2. I have an idea. Nitorium, would it be possible from a technical standpoint to let users choose whether they want that background Suwako image to load or not? That way people can choose whether they want to optimise for performance or for frogs. Wait, what "all activity" button? Idk if it's the same thing that Ken is talking about but I'd also like to mention that I love the new bar at the top where your profile image is with all the different options next to it, very sleek and convenient! I don't actually know if the "create" button was there before or not, but I like it. That being said, maybe tuck away light theme button somewhere else, perhaps within the customizer tab. I accidentally clicked on the light theme button when wanting to look in the customizer and cursed my eyes.
  3. Uh yes I knew that, what I sort of meant was "maybe it's something I can change in the customizer, you tell me", haha.
  4. Due to some reminiscing over Stone McKnuckle in the Musical Discoveries thread recently, here are some of his MMX remixes!
  5. I like the new theme, but here's some things I suggest you change: -When you click on "community" tab: Clubs should absolutely not be the top option, no one uses those. Put forums at the top instead. -On the "Forums" page, I miss those little pictures we had for each forum category : ( -I find that forum posts are now a bit too w i d e for my personal taste, would prefer it didn't span the whole width of the page. Idk if this is something you can change in the new "customizer"?
  6. WAIT WHAAAAAAAAAAAT??? STONE MCKNUCKLE HAS TOUHOU STUFF??????? I was literally re-listening to his Mega Man X remixes yesterday and was like "I wonder if he has Touhou stuff" had a look on the channel page and COMPLETELY MISSED THESE. Also, Stone McKnuckle is quite a throwback for me, was listening to his MMX stuff like Spark Mandrill Remix long before I became learned in Touhou. In fact, I must have first listened to him around the same time I was listening to DJ the S, where I was inavertedly exposed to Touhou.
  7. OK, this has been long overdue, time to get stuck into this. So, what other series do I like, eh? As far as fandoms go Touhou is absolutely the one I am most involved in, but of course I have many other interests as well, mainly in video games. It has been said before on this forum that I am a fan of Monster Hunter, so let's start there. While I haven't played many games spanning across the whole series, it still holds a place as one of my favourites of all time. I have my friend to thank for introducing me to this series, who convinced me to try the demo of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on the 3DS. And ho boy, let me tell you that demo alone is absolutely gripping. Monster Hunter is often considered a difficult game to get into, everything from controls, to difficulty, to understanding systems, it's an action RPG game with a lot of complexity and gameplay that doesn't go easy on you, but when it clicks, it clicks, and as someone who enjoys a good challenge, it didn't take long for it to click with me. It's basically "boss fights, the game". So now I'm hooked on this demo, but wait - there's a new MH game coming out! The demo for that game comes out ahead of release, so I now have even more demo content to get me hyped up before the release, and so my journey is set to begin with Monster Hunter Generations. In retrospect, going with Monster Hunter 4 would honestly have been the better decision since that game is held in high regard for many reasons, but it didn't matter at the time, as I enjoy the crap out of MHGen anyway, and my friend gets it too so we can play multiplayer, an aspect which makes MH even better. I've since continued my journey with Generations Ultimate, Rise, and soon I'll have Rise's expansion to look forward to, Sunbreak. I've been on this paragraph for way too long now so I'll wrap things up, but one of the things I also love about MH is something I like in common with Touhou and that's the community, even if I'm not involved with it the MH community are the one of the most helpful and welcoming groups out there. So what else can I talk about? Well, this is less known about me, but I'm also quite into the Warcraft universe (however I should add a disclaimer here, that Blizzard is a shitty company and I'm aware of it). I used to play World of Warcraft for a time, although I wasn't super integrated into the whole multiplayer aspect and grinding endgame dungeons with a guild and such, I just spent time exploring the overworld to level up my character, occasionally joining up with a friend who also played at the time. I don't play anymore because it's bloody expensive, not helped by the fact that it's a huge timesink, fans aren't happy with the current direction of the game, and the fact the gameplay loop of WoW is just kind of boring, yet strangely addicting... however, there is another side of Warcraft that I can still enjoy, and that is Hearthstone. On the offchance you don't know, Hearthstone is free to play spin-off game of Warcraft where you collect cards and build a deck to verse other players. If you're looking for a well balanced, engaging strategic card game, that's... not what Hearthstone is. Hearthstone is random, chaotic, wacky, unpredictable, and most certainly not balanced - but you just have to understand that's part of the appeal. Also, collecting cards is enjoyable, and although you can spend money on the game, free to play is doable and very appreciated for a TCG. Seriously, I also used to collect and play cards for the Pokemon TCG. SO EXPENSIVE. The fact Hearthstone is a TCG I can play for free makes me come back to it, and as mentioned, the craziness that can ensue under the right conditions might seem unfair to some, but it's inherently what makes the game entertaining. There are many other video games I've played, for example I'm a fan of metroidvania stuff, but I'll leave it at that, since I'm not about to make this into a fat list of everything I've ever played. What is worth an extra paragraph though is tabletop games! As you may have picked up on by now through my mention of Hearthstone and Pokemon TCG, I am a fan of card games and indeed board games. I own a few myself, but of course I have a friend group to play with as well, and it's by pooling our different games together that we get to experience a wide variety of fantastic board games... OK it's mostly just one guy who has all the stuff, but I digress. Cool strategic board and/or card games that you can play 1 on 1 and/or in a group that come from niche indie board game makers are absolutely my jam... so, speaking of jam, makes you wonder why I recently created a card game for that game jam, hmmmm?
  8. Hey everyone, I'm back again inquiring if anyone here can do art for a game. As some may already know, I'm currently working on an update for Dream of Ar-card-ia, a game that was originally created for a game jam, and one of the things I'm intending to add is artwork for all the cards. Due to problems with our current artist being busy, I'm looking for others who would like to contribute. The aim is to have this done by next Saturday (a week from when I am posting this). The art style does not need to be consistent with the rest of the game as it is card art, so they are allowed to be unique. Even if you're not up to do doing all of the cards, please contact me if you are interested in helping! DM on this site works best.
  9. An impressive collection, clearly you've been accumulating stuff for a long time! My "collection" of course comes nowhere close, limited not only by the obvious problem of money, but also the fact that for whatever reason, I only buy Touhou merchandise in person. This of course means that my opportunities to actually buy anything a very few and far between, usually coming at conventions - and there's no guarantee I'll even find any affordable Touhou merch at a given convention, although so far, I haven't failed yet - it's taken a hell of a lot of searching sometimes, but I still manage to find something! I'm happy about what I do have though; the fact that I only buy things when I physically find them, coupled with the fact it's rare and takes effort to find them, makes getting them much more special for me, and I can remember the occasion of me buying every item I have. And btw, I think we do already have another Touhou merch thread here. It's not active anymore but here anyway: https://moriyashrine.org/forums/topic/11-touhou-merch (Wow, topic 11??? That's hella old) heh, I have that same Aya.
  10. I'm down to review some of the past ideas we had: A group gaming event is definitely an idea (I don't know how popular Rivals specifically is to the recent users here), although this option is also the one that presents the most technical difficulties: -It needs to be game we all have and can play together -It needs to be a game people actually want to play -People here are from many different parts of the world, timezones would make organising the event a pain -On a similar note, connection stability over a long distance is also likely to be a difficulty An art event is an idea, since we seem to have a lot of people into art here now. Although to make things a bit broader, I have a better idea - any of the oldies here remember the Spring Creative Event thread I made a year or 2 back? It never caught on back then, so I deleted that thread. But this year I'd like to give that another try - the slower format of that event plays to a forum's strengths, as opposed to a game tourney, and it's an opportunity for everyone to show off what they like doing. Of course, I've missed the beginning of spring by quite a margin, but that's no matter, I'll just host it for a different season instead. "Moriya Jam" is still something I'd be absolutely down to do, but I don't think we have enough programmers to make it feasible. All this discussion naturally comes back to the one and only Remix Tournament. @Ken Hisuag if I'm not mistaken, we agreed you're the next host for this, yes? The Remix Tournament is popular with all the long term users here, works fantastically as a forum event, and is generally just really fun, for sure the newer members here need a chance to experience it. We don't have a strict schedule for when we do these, but going off the rough time gaps between tournaments, I think the next one would be due sometime next month? I remember us discussing that 4 tourneys a year had become a bit much, I think now the idea is to do 3
  11. I haven't been keeping on top of everything posted here lately, so I've had some catching up to do. This has not been a disappointing catching-up session.
  12. I remember reading about this somewhere, indeed very rare to see a Touhou convention outside of Japan. Of course, it would appear that any Touhou convention that does exist outside of Japan exists in America (although idk, I could see it being a thing in China or Korea too. But outside of Asia, yes of course it's only going to be found in America.) I believe that soon, there's going to be a new Touhou convention in America called "Touhoufest". Organized by different people of course, can't be letting the same failure happen again. I don't know much about it other than that, I guess it's going to be the same sort of thing but "better".
  13. IaMP: You don't like the weather system in SWR/Soku. SWR: 99% chance you are a simp for Tenshi. 1% chance you are a simp for Iku. Hisoutensoku: You're actually good at fighting games and a god at manipulating the weather system. But deep down, you still hate typhoon. HM: You actually prefer RPGs and strategy games to fighting games. ULiL: You are an agent of chaos. AoCF: You want to take fighting games seriously, but you're not good enough to play Soku.
  14. Hello there and welcome! Always nice when a lurker decides to un-lurk.
  15. YOOOO I FOUND A SOUND HOLIC RECENT DRAGON'S VEIL -光龍- This is also just a really good Immemorial Marketeers arrange in general.
  16. Cool interesting genre fusion for Maiden's Capriccio! Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the track has a proper title...
  17. I upload fangames from the game jams I do on itch.io, if you didn't already know. I also have a twitter and a Youtube, but they're both dead. Well the twitter technically isn't dead but I only use it to spread my gamedev stuff. I should make a "proper" post on this thread about the actual topic, but that'll have to come later...
  18. How I had it in my head regarding Aya's perspective on matters is that she doesn't change stance until the player actively makes the choice to go on a route that brings them close to the end, or Aya discovers something that is very obviously abnormal, so the player still has to be looking for this stuff first. However, you are correct in saying that in contrast to your idea, my idea couldn't technically be completed in one loop, since you would need to obtain certain stories to write from taking different routes before using them again to reach the true ending. Maybe if you knew exactly what you were doing it would only take a few loops, and for a normal playthrough you would also take many more routes which only reward you with hints rather than something strictly required to progress; but nonetheless it is true that my concept falls more into the category of "exploiting the time loop" rather than "learning from the time loop", which is maybe more of what you had envisioned. It's hard for me to tell how either approach would work exactly anyway without knowing what you have in mind regarding actual interaction with the world, UI, traversal, etc. It's been fun for me to think about though, use whatever parts of my theorycrafting you find suitable.
  19. Resident gamedesigner-ish guy has read this and now come up with ideas you can steal: What if the premise of the game revolves around Aya finding herself in a 3-day time loop? And, in order to get to the bottom of the "true route", it involves learning things in the different routes that you can then go back and use in the context of a different route when time resets? The story would start with Aya just wanting to take advantage of the time loop to spy "report" on everyone and get all those juicy stories, but as she becomes more knowledgeable from spending time in the time loop, it eventually leads to her trying to discover the source of the time loop and break it to return things to normality. Additional gameplay idea, because Aya retains all the information she learns from previous loops, it allows the player to choose to write about any story they've previously learned even if they haven't gone to investigate that particular story in the current loop, leading Aya to be able to manipulate her way into more obscure situations. To help manage all this the player would be able to look at the notes kept in Aya's notebook at any time, keeping track of all kinds of information they have to use. It would take a lot of careful planning to pull off something like this well but I think it could make a really good detective game.
  20. I haven't got any good ideas you can steal but I just wanted to drop in and say that I think this is an amazing concept.
  21. My story of getting into Touhou is a bit long winded and has already been told on this forum, so I'll just link to it here instead. Something I can remember clearly is that as soon as those ZUNpets on the EoSD title theme kicked in for the first time I played that game, is the exact moment I knew I was getting into something very special.
