Skill trees also affect characters attributes such as magic points, weapons, gold, etc. The weapon synthesis system from Touhou Soujinengi is back, so that players can forge stronger weapons.

There are four barriers and each require different conditions to be unlocked. Sometimes enemies drop money and the player can use it to purchase items, weapons or accessories at Rinnosuke's shop. Wandering Souls also features hidden paths, an extra final boss and new game modes with higher difficulties which can be unlocked upon game completion.

Book of Star Mythology features three playable characters to choose from; Reimu, Marisa and Sanae, each having two distinct attack types. The objective of the game is to swap one fruit with an adjacent fruit to form a horizontal or vertical chain of three or more fruit of the same color. The player must continuously remove the newly added fruits through matching and the game may end with a loss if the board is filled with radishes or kedamas. Radishes can be moved but can only be removed by swapping fruit next to it. Bonus points and spell cards are given when cascades or chains reactions are triggered. There are six playable characters and each have different attack effects.
