  1. Yoooooo, it seems I'm in the minority once again! Shoot the Bullet, Double Spoiler, and Violet Detector are some of my favourite games in the whole series, and even though I haven't completed a single one of them, I wish there was more. I love shooting the heck out of stuff as your local shrine maiden and whatnot as much as the next gal, but the gameplay of just snapping funny photos of swarms of bullets activates my brain at an immense level. It's extremely fun and right up my alley, although I definitely understand why not everyone loves em. Also this is a really weird way to spell "Aya is the best" but more power to you
  2. I wonder how do you make a counter mechanic like that both be fun and actually work. If you can really do it at any time then I feel like matches would either be spent entirely at range or entirely with people countering eachother over and over until one of them keeled over. If it's more limited, like say, you can't do it if you're put in a specific stun state, necessitating some kind of extra set up before you do anything, or it uses a limited resource or something, I can see it working. At any rate, if there was something like this, my ideal would be that it not always be available, and the opponent can't just counter or evade out of it over and over. I'm probably just not good at the series lmao, but an example I can think that sort of matches my gripe with that sort of thing is the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games. Like I said I'm probably just not super great at it, but I can't count how many times me and my brother go back and forth using substitution until one of us gets lucky and gets away or we run out of "charges" for it and whoever didn't attack first just gets hit with a whole combo anyways. I don't know, that's jut my 2 cents, I'm no expert for sure.
  3. Bro I will die a Touhou fan, there are a few works that inspire the heck out of me and the greater Touhou community is one of them. Hours and hours of incredible music, both official and fanmade, same with games in a myriad of styles. I might not always intensely celebrate it because I might be distracted with something else, but I'll definitely always love Touhou. ( I still hate Tsukasa though >:C ) I will say I do come across a fair bit of discourse in the community as well which definitely makes me sad, but I hope someday everyone can simply get along.

Place for me to collect my own Touhou art for all to see
  5. I mean she's already been in two fighting games already, I don't think her size is necessarily a huge issue BUT a partner gimmick of some kind with another character would be cute!
  6. Ever since I played Unconnected Marketeers I became enamored with Chimata. I'm a pretty emotional person, I feel like I can connect on some level with the stories of fictional media pretty often. I am not afraid to admit I cry sometimes listening to her theme, to me there's a lot of emotional stress and desperation in the music and I think about Chimata's story a lot. It's not the only thing like this for me in the Touhou series and I figure that probably a lot of people have their own experiences like this, with how wide Gensokyo is and the huge cast of people living within. It can be positive or negative (but positivity is rad!) but what are some Touhou moments that hit y'all with some strong feels?
  7. I really like the fighting games, my favourite being AoCF, however I've not played them very much yet (because I'm a super distracted person lol) so I don't think about them too much. However on this topic I'd like a style of fighting game more like say, Virtua Fighter or like Dead or Alive, where there's a third dimension (stepping to the side in addition to forward back, up and down) At least I think I remember it like that. I think it'd be really interesting to combine that with the Touhou flavoured combat in the current fighting games. A pretty big part of that style of game is having a variety of environmental objects and hazards, compared to most 2D fighting games in the traditional style. Stuff like map edges that fall into another layer of the map, or K.O. hazards, etc. Hype and high energy vibes! It'd be pretty rad to have a multi-location map that spans multiple recognized areas with a logical connection. As for character-wise... I wonder about maybe a customization/variant system? It's a lil difficult to think about roster normally for me (especially since I'm still not totally familiar with every character, there's just so darn many!) but stuff like alt costumes in fangames or the alternate versions of our favourite gensokyo gals in Lost Word catches my thoughts pretty often. Not super unique and maybe people might not like it?? but I can picture a large scale incident with this kind of premise. Since my brain is getting really scattered now I'll leave this comment here. My one true requirement is to have Shinmy in the roster
  8. My kneejerk, gunshot, absolute instinct is to reply a thousand times with Chimata, but for the reasons OP already said I agree that probably wouldn't work out too well...maybe. But since I'm not very big brained anyways, I'm not gonna think too hard about my answer after all. So in that case I'd wanna pick Okuu, not much to say but I really like her since I barely was into Touhou, and Yoshika because...I just like her. I have no other reasons for either of these characters other than that I like them, muahaha! Also I said I wasn't gonna think about it too hard but I spent half an hour thinking about this answer...
  9. I think it makes sense but also I'm neither very good or very knowledgeable on the fighting games. but it does sound interesting! Yes. If you cannot grow a third hand, how can you be expected to grow the third brain required to play Touhou in the first place? :D
  10. What are some game mechanics that you guys could see or would want to see in a future Touhou game? Like, if you could imagine what Touhou 19 would be like, or a similar style of game? For example: Maybe some kind of mouse cursor related ability? Like a switch that swaps between two sets of enemy bullets? A mechanic for possessing enemies for a time? Stuff like that. I wanna see what kind of cool ideas other people might have. I'm no game developer or anything either, I just figured that other people might have interesting imaginations and wondered what it'd be like to imagine them myself. This isn't serious really so there are no stupid answers!
  11. You a homie, Isaac, don't let all the negativity get to you bro. <3 On the topic of memes, I don't know about stale stuff but the fanmade lighthearted music videos on YouTube are and always will be a classic. Does it even need mentioning though I mean you have a huge collection of wacky memes, animations, fumo videos and joke music from like 10 years ago and onward to today. I'd say a majority of Touhou memes just have a timeless and classic vibe to them that persists throughout the ages, somehow. I pretty much spent all last night discovering ancient Touhou memes until I passed out. It's awesome.
  12. It's because of this that I end up liking many characters, since even though I've been a Touhou fan for a long time, I also don't play the games super often, nor engage in other related media. So fanart (or music) ends up being my first window into a lot of characters, like Koishi or Kutaka for example. Sometimes though I just don't vibe with a character at first and it's other people's opinions and art that convince me to like them, like with Parsee. :D So yeah for me anyways it's pretty common, because otherwise I miss out on a lot of characters.
  13. Curved lasers.... I have nightmares about curved lasers frequently. Gods help us all. Anyways, good stuff!
  14. On my way to snack on some delicious moon rabbits On a somewhat serious note I'm somehow intrigued by this topic. It definitely requires thorough research, we must get to the bottom of this for real for real
  15. Look no further for the ultimate soup of Touhou memes and weird energy than Become Fumo. Got all the unlockable characters, my quest is finished. I'd like to thank the infinitely spinning Rin, the extremely violent Patchouli, and the funny Inu Sakuya I met along my way as well as many others.

This has like, nothing to do with anything but I guess I'm just enjoying being a 2hu fan and I think that's the most important part, I wish all a nice day

  16. So I could give two different answers here. First is the "real" answer because it was legitimately my first, which would be Genso Rondo on PS4 ( no dlc :c ) which to this day is an absolute blast and one of my favourite games. It's a style of game I wish was more common because it's super fun and interesting, and I wish I had more people to play with. But as far as actual proper, official, main games goes, my first is Imperishable Night. My friend who's into Touhou told me to play it, I had no idea who any of the characters were or what the heck was going on or even what the games were actually about at the time, but I had a great time and I look back fondly on that first run. (which ended really quickly to probably a fairy)
  17. Okay, you know what? Maybe I was too hard on Parsee. Maybe I can come to like her too. It's totally possible I was falling into the extra fandom headspace, as hard as I try to avoid it. While I didn't exactly have a clear idea in the first place and didn't really think of her like how it seems she might be sometimes portrayed I also might not have let myself try to understand very clearly. I humbly beg forgiveness >.< thank you for helping me open my eyes a little
  18. I don't particularly hate or dislike any character themselves but Sannyo and Misumaru's attacks make me really mad >:C Actually scratch that if I go way backwards, I don't like Parsee. I don't like her attacks and I don't like her attitude fr fr. I guess in that same vein that darn amanojaku Seija kinds ticks me off too but not quite the same way. I can at least enjoy her but for some reason Parsee fills me with an alternative rage I cannot describe
  19. I was absorbed into Touhou originally through nuclear fusion power, of course. Friend of mine made me watch Nuclear fusion dojo, and then all the assorted things we all love like Marisa stole the precious thing, Scarlet Police, etc. You know the drill, I was forever destined for and bound to Touhou. My first introduction to any Touhou games was kind of strange cuz I didn't know where to start, and one day I saw a game on the playstation store, so my first ever Touhou game was Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet... I stayed in cuz the music and memes are totally rad
  20. Bwahahaha it is I! Like a certain pebble girl we all know and love, I have been lurking in plain sight this whole time! That is to say, I've been visiting here for a few years now but I thought I would maybe dive into the community a lil more? I'm so nervous I'm making cliche nervous poses in front of my pc monitor, wow! I'm very shy.. I've been into Touhou for a pretty long time but recently is when my love for it really really kicked off. My greatest achievement ever ever ever, is beating Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom 1cc on Normal. Definitely went insane. Favourite characters: Yoshika, Shinmy, and my favouritest of all, Chimata!!! I hope I can get along well with everyone!? <3
