  2. Tempest of the Heavens and Earth

    Release Information
    Type: 2D Action/Platformer
    Developer: LION HEART
    Publisher: LION HEART
    Release: Comiket 84, August 12, 2013
    Version: 1.10
Language: English (can switch to JP/CN)
AKA Tenjou no Tempest - Suppression by Celestial. Lullaby for Gaia

Notice: The game triggers a false-positive on most antiviruses

    Description

A bizarre phenomenon is occurring in Gensokyo when the land is ravaged by relentless earthquake. Tenshi Hinanawi flies down from heaven to investigate this incident and to relieve her boredom. Tenjou no Tempest, literally translated as The Tempest of Heaven and Earth, is a side scrolling action platformer adapting some elements of Touhou Hisouten. The game uses specific weather effects from ice, gusts of wind, thunder and rain. Every enemy has a specific weather effect associated with them, and killing an enemy by countering their attacks unleashes their weather condition. Also, most obstacles and stages must be overcome by using the proper weather effects.
There are four styles which can be fully customized to possess whatever bullet/spellcard type you wish. Important: Dashing through an enemy's attack animation will trigger a scarlet aura around the enemy. Attack the enemy with the Sword of Hisou to trigger a weather change effect. This is necessary at some points in the game to proceed. Scarlet mist on the ground are sources of large revenue. Use Sword of Hisou on them. You cannot activate them if you have full charge. Bosses sometimes will appear with different spellcards depending on how well you're faring. Taking multiple hits will result in your screen glowing red on the edges. This means you are close to death. To reverse the effect, you must stop receiving hits to regenerate constitution. Bullets/Spellcards can be bought with points that you have accumulated in the pause menu.

The game's Steam page (please buy it if you can):

  3. Touhou Mutsuigeki - Concealed the Conclusion

    Release Information
    Type: Vertical Bullet Hell Shooter
    Developer: danmaq
    Publisher: danmaq
    Release: Comiket 71, December 31, 2006
    Language: English-Patched
    Default Controls
    Arrow Keys: Movement
    Z: Fire / Select
    X: Bomb
    ?: Fire Hakurei Orb
    Shift: Focus Movement
    Esc: Pause
    Ctrl: Skip Dialogue
    Home: Take Screenshot
    R: Return to Title
    F12: Shutdown Game Description
Plot Point: Everyone's favorite Ordinary Magician, Marisa Kirisame, decides to head to the Hakurei Shrine to pester Reimu. But when she arrives, everything is quiet and the shrine is locked down. Sensing an incident in the air, Marisa takes to the sky. 4 different scenarios await her as she fights to uncover those responsible for the incident and heads to an epic battle that will decide the fate of Gensokyo. The story is a well done and thought provoking masterpiece that challenges what we think and feel about the mythical land.
How It Works: Concealed the Conclusion is a 2D vertical shooting game. It plays much like Imperishable Night. Marisa is the only playable character but has four different shot types to choose from. Some fans would be pleased to know that Love Sign, Penetration Type is featured with everyone's favorite rainbow colored beam of destruction, Master Spark. Each shot type also determines which scenario is chosen. Just like the Official Touhou Games, there are six stages to fight through. An extremely important note concerns the player's hitbox. In this game, it is a lot smaller than the Official games. But, the hitboxes of almost everything else(bullets, knives, falling cats, lasers, Klondike bars) are bigger to balance it out.
Hakurei Orbs: This is one of the most important items in the game. Just like the time orbs in Imperishable Night, they are awarded for different tasks. Capturing Spell Cards, grazing bullets and destroying bullets all award these orbs. Last Spells also make an appearance, if enough orbs have been collected. But, the most important purpose of the Hakurei Orbs is that they decide how much time a player gets to fight the final boss.
((Thanks to Dratini Farmer for writing this!))   Hakurei Items
Hakurei items collected to increase spell card bonuses, gain extra points at the end of each stage, unlock Last Spells, and extend the time limit for the Stage 6 boss fight. They are gained by capturing Spell Cards, destroying bullets with the Hakurei orbs, and grazing. Unfocused grazing yields 1 Hakurei item, but when the Hakurei gauge is full, any grazing will give three. Bombing reduces the player's Hakurei by 3%, while dying will reduce it by 9%, or 18% if the Hakurei gauge was full.

The Hakurei Gauge appears around Marisa's sprite and will fill as you take ungrazed actions such as shooting or grazing. When the gauge is full, you can fire Hakurei orbs to turn bullets into Hakurei items. The first press releases the orb, while the second detonates it. Missing will result in an almost complete drain of the gauge. Launching the orb costs 1% of your gauge. Bombing puts a 20% penalty on the gauge. Dying, death-bombing, or failing a Last Spell will cause it to reset and disable it for 6 seconds after the invincibility period, rendering you unable to collect Hakurei items.

  6. Gensou Shoujo Taisen Kou - Fantasy Maiden Wars Scarlet

    Release Information
    Type: Strategy RPG(SRPG)
    Developer: さんぼん堂
    Publisher: さんぼん堂
    Release: Comiket 78, 2010
Language: English-Patched Version 1.02 Version: 1.1.2   Other Vitals
    Playable Characters(Reimu & Marisa's Story)
Reimu, Marisa, Nitori, Alice, Keine, Cirno, Daiyousei, Rumia, Youmu, Akyu, and Sakuya.

    *Playable Characters(Sakuya's Story)
Sakuya, Koakuma, Patchouli, Remilia, Meiling, Alice, Flandre, and Komachi.

*Please Note: This game can be played with a Playstation controller.   Description
Plot Point: This game retells Embodiment of Scarlet Devil with the trademark red mist acting in the beginning as the catalyst for plot development; however, there are surprisingly many plot twists, character developments and cameo guest appearances from other games as well as portraying a prologue to Mountain of Faith's story. Altogether, the storyline is beautiful and much more rich in drama compared to the original Embodiment of Scarlet Devil.

How It Works:  This is a fantastic little SRPG done in the style of the "Super Robot Taisen" series.  It works like you would expect a traditional SRPG to, except with expected Touhou elements; for example, if an enemy puts up a danmaku field, your girls will take penalties if they wander in without Focusing first, which negates said penalties.  (Your girls can move much further per turn when Unfocused, of course.)  For each exchange you get into, you can also freely enable or disable the nicely-animated scenes (which take a while to load, but are well-done; I usually enable them for exchanges with bosses).  Super Robot Taisen's "Wife" System also makes an appearance in this game, enabling your girls to learn special abilities beyond normal skills.  Also available are things like upgrading your girls' stats and skills, and four difficulties to choose from (you can also pick Reimu or Marisa as the protagonist).  If you clear the game, it is planned to allow your game-clear save to be able to carry over to the game's future sequel.

Includes manuals with detailed instructions for each of the menus, how to battle, and what happens between your turns.   Extras
      Clear Data (included in download)
This goes in your Sengoku Gensokyo -> Save folder. Also, it doesn't overwrite saved game data, it just flags the game as cleared, unlocking the extra stuff:
    * National Mode
    * Difficulty Select for Story Mode
    * Extras Section   Description
Plot Point: Yukari has distributed a letter throughout all of Gensokyo, setting rules for a team-based wargame for those who are bored of nothing but typical spell card rules, promising to grant any one wish for the team who wins.  Those who are weak individually but strong in a group decide this provides an excellent opportunity; others simply want to prove their points; still others want the promised wish.  But, for only the second time in Touhou history (the first being "Labyrinth of Touhou"), the entire Touhou cast is involved...because now, Gensokyo is at WAR.
How It Works:  This is a point-and-click strategy game (left-click to confirm, right-click to cancel); in the main Story Mode, generally speaking, you play the role of the Hakurei Shrine faction, and declare war, battle against, and capture the other factions' territories until you win by having the entire map under your control.  For all the details you could possibly need, go grab the Instruction Pack from the Extras section on the left.  This game may look something like "Risk" at first glance, but trust me: 1) it plays nothing like it, and 2) it takes a lot longer (Story Mode does, anyway).
    Want Extras?
Clear the game.  Simply clearing the main Story Mode game unlocks all of the following:
    * National Mode.  A setup that emulates a multiplayer experience; all regions start off occupied, and factions are no longer concerned only with you; they'll attack each other now as well.  National Mode comes with the bonus characters on the left (and thus some bonus factions, as well), and lots of ways to tweak things; you can set how many and which factions will be present and change their starting memberlists, and you also get to play as any faction you'd like.  National Mode can use characters you've created yourself in the game's Extras section.  To get to it, click "Start" on the main menu, and it will now ask you which mode you'd like to play (Story Mode or National Mode).
    * Difficulty Select for Story Mode.  Was the default setting of Normal too easy for you?  Now when you start a new Story Mode game, it will ask if you'd still like to play Normal, or if you'd prefer Hard or Lunatic.
    * Extras Section.  Check out the CG art, videos, and character art; you've also earned the right to tweak the statistics of the characters you can hire in both Story and National Modes, and can also create new characters for use in National Mode.  (When you start a new game, regardless of mode, it will ask you whether you'd like to use the official default data, or the edited data you tweaked.)

Want to Watch for New Pets?
    Page they're released on
Recently updated to version 3.  The five new girls are:
    * Satori Komeiji
    * Mystia Lorelei
    * Kogasa Tatara
    * Hong Meiling
    * Letty Whiterock

These are different from the regular shimejis; these float around on your desktop, and you can interact with them in a few ways (fast mouseover left/right will dizzy them, mouseover up/down forces them to move, and they'll look at you if you slowly hover over them).

When you right click them, you'll be asked if you want to set options (first choice) or close that pet (second choice).  In the configuration options are choices that are unique to each girl; you can set how fast they move, how fast they dizzy-spin, and if they have a special double-click option (like Youmu taking out/sheathing her swords or Nitori using her opti-camo), you can disable it, or in some cases set a special option for it (like how well Nitori's opti-camo works).

      Supplements from Touhou Wiki
    * Touhoudex
    * Locations
    * Type Chart   Description
Plot Point: Patchouli gets tired of Marisa stealing her books, so she creates an army of sentient puppets based on the residents of Gensokyo to guard her library. Marisa steals the information needed to create her own army of the puppets, and in a fit, Patchouli destroys both armies and the knowledge of how to create them. The puppets recreate and fill Gensokyo, becoming akin to pets.
How It Works: Since these are a set of Pokemon clones, the gameplay should feel familiar. The player starts off with a puppet and gathers more along the way, fighting their way through a series of dungeons and gyms before reaching the Elite Four and becoming the Champion. The same types have been kept, since these are the 1.5x versions of Touhoumon. World Link corresponds to Emerald, Another World and Puppet Play to Fire Red, and Marisa's Magic World to Ruby.

  11. Shin Gyakuten Touhou - Aya Shameimaru: Ace Attorney

    Release Information
    Type: Visual Novel
    Developer: すいかやさん
    Publisher: すいかやさん
    Release: Comiket 77, on December 30, 2009
    Language: English-Patched
    Description
Shin Gyakuten Touhou, literally translated as True Turnabout in the Eastern, is a visual novel legal thriller adventure developed by すいかやさん featuring the cast of Touhou Project. The player assumes the role of Aya Shameimaru as a defense attorney to prove their clients not guilty using investigation, evidence, and cross-examination. Courtroom sessions are generally made up of testimonies consisting of statements by witnesses and Aya may cross-examine the witness to locate a contradiction by showing a piece of evidence. Shin Gyakuten Touhou is the completion of the original game (Comiket 74, 2008) with three primary cases and an extra trial where Aya faces overwhelming evidence as an unpopular celestial Tenshi is accused of stealing.

How it Works: If you've ever played the Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney series then you'll be right at home here. If not, then know that it is a Text-based game. Text, as in, a lot of the game is reading, so yeah. This is the basic order of events; Crime is commited. Girl is arrested. Girl gets Aya to help prove that they're innocent. Aya goes around collecting evidence, and talking to witnesses. You go to court and listen to witness testimony. You try and use evidence to prove that they're lying/made a mistake. Rinse & Repeat, hope that truth prevails.

*My New Manual is included, but is seperatedly downloadable here too in case you're considering getting it but want all the details before downloading. It's far more helpful than the old English-translated manual and offering it seperately here sees to it that I can keep the detaied stuff off this page.
*CharaGraphs: Included in the game download is not one but all seven CharaGraph packs I previously offered separately (in the Spare CharaGraphs folder), and my own ModPack with names and tags is already inn the main CharaGraph folder as the default set.   Description
Plot Point:  A strange dimensional pocket has appeared above the Scarlet Devil Mansion.  Its appearance is very menacing, and it feels like it's bad news.  Our girls go inside to investigate why it's there and who's behind it.
How It Works:  It's a classic dungeon-crawling game in the style of "Dragon Warrior."  You prepare in Gensokyo, then head down into the dungeon to explore, battle, and find treasure until you're unable to continue further and decide to warp back to town.  Relay Points allow you to start from further in.
Extra Notes:  There are two font files included in the download, which you need to install to your Windows -> Fonts folder; also, this game will run without AppLocale, but if you want the fun Kakupoptai font seen in the screenshots to display properly, you must bother to run it through AppLocale.

    - Spawns fairies during her spellcards to attack you.

    - Fourth appears in her other survival spell. The bullets possess the same color as the background. (Reimu-Black, Marisa-White, Sanae-Rainbow) They won’t appear until they are within close proximity.
    - Her final gimmick possesses an interesting twist that should only be learnt by yourself... Description
Plot Point: Suddenly, a small lake in Gensokyo turns into a decently-sized salty sea. Reimu, Marisa, and Sanae plunge into the depths to explore and find out what is causing the sea's expansion.
How it Works: Marine Benefit is a spinoff shooter game and so plays as any Touhou games, except for the addition of special new mechanics.

    Unique Gameplay Mechanics
Hydrogen and Oxygen System: The Hydrogen and Oxygen System is your way of earning bombs and extra lives in this game. The Hydrogen (Blue) bar is your way of getting bombs and is increased by small and large H items. The Oxygen (Orange) bar is your way of getting lives and is increased by small and large O items. Both are also increased by grazing bullets. The latter method can be abused in a few stages to gain tons of resources and make this game ridiculously easy, even though it is a somewhat a difficult game. The Hydrogen bar is also your POC in this game, and it moves up and down, so adjust your strategy accordingly.

  16. Moeru Danmaku STG Moedan

    Release Information
    Type: Vertical Bullet Hell Shooter
Developer: Studio Ramble & D.N.A. Softwares
    Publisher: DNA Software
    Release: March 21, 2005
    Language: Japanese
    Default Controls
    Arrow Keys: Movement
    Z: Fire / Select
    X: Bomb
    Shift: Focus Movement
    Description
Moedan is a training game for newcomers to Touhou. You play as Flandre Scarlet and are given two spellcard options: Wide Shot and Linear Shot. Bombs clear bullets but do no damage. Alice Margatroid appears as a boss. The game is based on the player trying to clear spell cards, where each Spell Card have different patterns and provide players the opportunity to practice dealing with it. In each stage the player can earn silver medal by shooting down enough enemies/the boss within the time limit, or earn gold medal by surviving until the time runs out.
    Story Mode
Story mode functions the same as the "Imperishable Night" Practice section. Flandre must clear 50 spellcards, but don't worry. There isn't a set order in which you must clear one, so you can always skip one you are having trouble with and go back to it later. If you time a spell card out, you get a gold medal instead of a silver one.

    Freeplay Mode
Freeplay mode allows you to play the same spellcards from Story Mode, but you may add a few more options. You may increase the number of lives and bombs you start with, and you may choose as to whether or not to double the spellcard.

  17. Touhou Koumakyo - The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil 3D

    Release Information
    Type: 3D Danmaku
    Developer: Unknown
    Publisher: Unknown
    Release: January 9, 2012
    Version Number: 1.00f
    Language: Japanese
    Default Controls
    Z Slow character
    X Bomb
    C Skip Text
    Space Pause (Characters autofire)
    Description
Plot Point: The exact same as the original game.
How it Works: Once you pick your character and shot type, you'll be taken to the first stage(again, just like the original). Your character will move forward  and fire on their own, so instead of moving forward and backward, you will move up and down. Just like in the original, easy mode has five stages while the rest of the difficulties have six.

The game was released on January 9, 2012 and comes with more significant features. The developer has adjusted the difficulties and bullet barrages. Now the bosses will be much more difficult to overcome and sometimes need more bomb than ever before. No more continues in EX Mode, additional BGM's and text for each stages. The biggest upgrade is visual effects where full 3D shaded has been applied and replacing cell shaded. Player can also switch between 3rd or 1st person view. For maximum effects the game also has FSAA option, but this will require high end graphic cards.

  18. The Genius of Sappheiros Weekend 3.0

    Release Information
    Type: RPG
    Developer: Strawberry Bose
    Publisher: Strawberry Bose
    Release: May 27,2012
    Language: English-Patched
    Version: Weekend, Ver. 3.0

AKA Touhou Soujinengi Shuumatsu - The Genius of Sappheiros Weekend
    Character Information
    Playable Characters: 12
These characters are all unlocked during the story, but Byakuren & Mokou can be unlocked earlier, if certain conditions are fulfilled...
(Reimu, Sanae, Aya, Marisa, Patchouli, Sakuya, Nitori, Alice, Satori, Youmu, Byakuren, Mokou)

    Expansion Characters
The following 5 characters can only be used after you unlock them in the Expansion-only content. "???" is a Genius of Sappheiros original character.
(Yuugi, Cirno, Reisen, Remilia, and ???)

    Description
Plot Point: It's a normal day in Gensokyo when Reimu Hakurei notices a strange fog rolling in. All across Gensokyo, residents witness this fog weakening and killing a great many lesser youkai. At the behest of Yukari Yakumo, she joins forces with Marisa Kirisame, Sanae Kochiya, and Aya Shameimaru to investigate the fog's appearance... (from Touhou wiki)
How it Works: You choose a party of 5 characters, with a 6th character, the Commander, helping out via support abilities. You head though various dungeons (also called Stages) and fight enemies in turn-based RPG-style combat. As you win battles you gain experience and level up, sometimes learning abilities. However, you also earn "Power" as you level up, and these points can be put, and taken out of, into 14 different categories (4 personal, 4 weapon-types, and the 6 stat types) to increase your stats or learn other abilities.   Extra EXTRA notes

Unlocking Fujiwara no Mokou early: After visiting Akyuu for the first time, talk to her again. The Bamboo Forest maze will appear to the west; head there, and travel through the forest in accordance with the Konami Code (Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right) to find Mokou.
Unlocking Byakuren Hijiri early: Head to Myouren-Ji, the building in the southeast where Minamitsu Murasa is standing. Wait in this building for a full hour of real time and a cutscene will trigger in which Byakuren will join.

You do not need to visit the SDM, Stage 1, (or visit Akyuu for Byakuren) to unlock those characters. However, it must be noted that the player must visit Akyuu once more after getting the recipes in order to unlock Mokou. Also, they will automatically join your party right before stage 9 (Mokou) and 11 (Byakuren) respectively if you do not recruit them before then. Version: 2.11 (already patched)
    (TouhouWiki Walkthrough)
    Main Party Members(18)
Reimu, Meiling, Yukari, Byakuren, Marisa, Sunny, Remilia, Youmu, Yuyuko, Patchouli, Yuuka, Sanae, Nitori, Shikieiki, Utsuho, Mokou, Suika, Kogasa

    Characters as Shikigami(47)
Ichirin, Mystia, Letty, Lunasa, Merlin, Lyrica, Minoriko, Shizuha, Sakuya, Kanako, Suwako, Cirno, Lily White, Keine, Yuugi, Hina, Nue, Iku, Tenshi, Aya, Hatate, Tewi, Reisen, Alice, Koakuma, Mima, Shou, Eirin, Rumia, Satori, Koishi, Yamame, Parsee, Medicine, Flandre, Kisume, Daiyousei, Momiji, PC-98 Marisa, Akyu

    Confirmed Healing Shikigami (7):
Minoriko (single/all), Ran (horizontal line), Luna (AOE), Satori (AOE), Eirin (type(s) unconfirmed), Parsee (single) [There's also a multi-elemental wild shikigami you find in a chest early on that can heal single targets.]

    Confirmed Status Recovery Shikigami (4):
Letty, Minoriko, Star, Parsee (entire party).
    Confirmed Resurrection Shikigami (2):
    Rin, Star.

    Map for More Than Directions:
Once you get past the game's prologue gameplay (the appearance of the Towers), for a rather long time, the only save point you'll have is at your shrine - this is because once you've explored the new layout a bit and your girls start getting some idea where things are now, you can use the map to fly to places you've been to (including back and forth to and from the temple so you can save/replenish MP). To do this, open the map (press Start), move the cursor to the general area, and press (A); it will ask you which sub-area you'd like to fly to. If you've been to more than one tier of Reformed Gensokyo, you can hit (L)/(R) to switch tier maps so you can fly from one to another. The only place you cannot fly is inside the Towers themselves.

You won't complain of a lack of shikigami.
Not only are there tons of character shikigami, but once you acquire shikigami Satori by clearing any of the game's three Towers, she will randomly give you opportunities to recruit monsters you fight as long as she's equipped.
You MUST run the game in AppLocale if you want the game to run.
    Description
Plot Point: Humans and youkai are disappearing from Gensokyo mysteriously! Several of the girls have noticed the goings-on, and embark to find the source and end this incident.
How It Works:  When the game begins, you will choose one of four protagonists - Reimu, Yukari, Byakuren, or Meiling - and play from their perspective. Throughout the lengthy game, you will recruit new members and shikigami (more on that below), locate equipment, fight regular monsters and bosses.
Other Notes: Like Labyrinth of Touhou, there are no consumable items (though your HP is replenished at the end of each battle since you can't use magic outside of battle), but unlike Labyrinth of Touhou, there's a good amount of healing magic, and you can resurrect dead characters if you have the right spells for it.
Shikigami System: This game works on a shikigami system; you can have up to 5 main party members, who are responsible for your physical attacks (and take all the damage), and each of them can equip up to 3 shikigami characters who cast magic for them. More details on how to battle and stuff like that are found in my instructions pack, in the left column.

This is a video of one of the Tower bosses on Reimu's route (you'll know what the Towers are when they appear in-game, trust me). This player uses one of the Tank formations, using Mokou as the tank.

    ?: Locks cursor in place
    Description
Concept: A large cave sporting many different environments has popped up, and the girls are very eager to explore it! As time goes on, fake girls show up, and the cave is proving to have corrupting qualities. Think of Touhou Hack and Slash in terms of general gameplay.
How It Works: As noted from the title, this game is reminiscent of Blizzard's Diablo. You explore the one dungeon (the cave) and kill monsters in a hack and slash style. At first you control Reimu and Marisa, but you can swap partners with any of the girls in town and the other areas you will unlock. You can switch places with your partner as well, allowing you to build your own two-person team. Patches:
The game should hopefully be patched in English and with the Oni patch.

(Available only in Free Select Mode)
    Keine, Suwako   RPS Information
The three unit affinities work like a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, and knowing which unit type is better than another can help you make decisions as to which units to buy when you're playing on a difficulty that gives you info as to which enemies are next, so you can attack or defend better:
    * Melee is strong against Danmaku
    * Danmaku is strong against Flying
    * Flying is strong against Melee   Spellcards
You'll have 5 spellcards that you can use a single time each if you really get in a pinch that grant temporary bonuses; use them depending on exactly what kind of pinch you're in. From left to right:
    * Fire: Damages all enemies in an amount equal to half their max HP (also damages offscreen enemies).
    * Water: Respawn rate of dead units is increased tenfold.
    * Wind: Increases all animation speeds for your units (movement and attack speeds).
    * Metal: The bookshelf becomes temporarily invulnerable: enemies cannot steal books.
    * Earth: Your units gain temporary invulnerability; nothing can harm them.   Special Note
When computer-controlled, Marisas don't bother with attacks: instead, they go straight for the bookshelf (this applies to all difficulties, so be careful when you're up against a large wave of Marisas!)   Special Modes
Once you meat the games as all teams and earn Free Select, you also unlock the special Extra modes:
*100k Mode. Start with 100,000 coins.
*Swarm Mode. Waves contain even more enemies.
*Thief Mode. None of the enemies bother attacking: like Marisas, they will now all rush for the bookshelf.
*Dual Mode. Waves will now consist of a mix of 2 different characters.
*Surround Mode. Each wave will now come from absolutely everywhere instead of having one particular offscreen area where they spawn from.
*Boss Rush Mode. "Regular" waves will now consist of 3 normal-level boss characters, and "boss" waves will now consist of one giant boss.
*Tower Defense Mode. Your units spawn on top of platforms with no way down; enemies will rush for the bookshelves.
*Endless Mode. Even after the clock reaches midnight, the waves will just keep coming.   Description
    * Please note that this game ONLY runs in an unchangeable 1024x768 resolution; if your monitor's resolution is smaller, there is absolutely no way to change the game's resolution to fit; even attempting to fullscreen it or force 640x480 through compatibility options does not work. Plot Point: Patchouli is sick and tired of Marisa stealing books from the library (tell me something I don't know), so she decides to strengthen its defenses by creating magical dolls to guard the books.  Unfortunately, Marisa stole the book Patchy wrote on how to make the dolls, so everyone else knows how to make them too.  Patchy's only hope is to create as many dolls as she can to defend her last stronghold that is the library.
How It Works: You start with some gold to purchase your initial supply of units, which spawn at start point(s); each unit is unique, is one of three types (melee, danmaku, or flying), and has special abilities.  You have as much time as you like to determine starting units and positions before starting.  To begin, hit the large [Start] button in the lower-right to start the clock and the battling.  As each wave of enemy units attacks, you can either let your units' proximity reactions go, or you can tell individuals or highlight groups of units and command them to go on the offensive.  Defeating enemy units awards you more gold to make more units so you can handle larger and more powerful enemy groups, whereas if you neglect your duties, the enemies will make it to the bookshelves you're defending - if they steal all the books, it's game over.  When the clock in the upper-right hits midnight, you get a wave of boss-type Marisas as the final wave.  If you manage to fend that off without losing all your books, you win!
Character Info: At first, you only start with Patchy's own EoSD team, but beating the game as each new team unlocks the next on the list; if you beat the game as all six normal teams, you unlock the 2 special characters and the ability to create a custom team with any characters you want using Free Select Mode.
Difficulty Info: The game comes with 4 difficulty settings (Easy, Normal, Hard, and Lunatic).  The difficulty you choose determines the following things:
    * Total time.  Easier settings are shorter and less involved; higher difficulties last much longer (the clock moves much slower), forcing more strategy on your part as to who to upgrade or purchase more units for.
    * Time and warnings between waves.  Easier settings provide more time between waves, and provide more info as to what they consist of (Easy tells you everything, including exact character, type, and where they're coming from; upping your difficulty tells you less and less until you get to Lunatic, which tells you absolutely nothing).
    * Wave strength.  Easy is very forgiving; upping your difficulty means stronger waves appear sooner and more frequently.
    * Accessibility of the bookshelf to enemies. Easy puts tons of obstacles in the way, Lunatic hardly gives the enemies anything to walk around at all

  22. EoSD for the Busy Person & Extra

    Release Information
    Type: Visual Novel
    Developer: カスガソフト
    Publisher: カスガソフト
    Release: Reitaisai 6, 2009
    Version: English 1.0
    Language: English-Patched
AKA Isogashii Hito no Tame no Koumakyou
    Description
Plot Point: Remilia gets bored, so she decides to hold an "event" for more or less, Reimu & Marisa. Whomever can reach Remilia first, by walking through the EoSD stages, gets a prize. Reimu and Aya team up, while Marisa takes Alice with her.
How it Works:This game is a visual novel, so their isn't actually much gameplay. You read text/listen to the voices, and choose one out of two options every now and then. One choice will always give you a "Bad Ending" while the other let's you continue on in the story (besides when you select Reimu or Marisa).
Extra Notes: To Save anywhere in the game, hold the "Shift" key, and press any of "F1-F12". To Load these files just press the "F1-F12" without holding Shift.   EoSD for the Busy Extra
Plot Point: Like the first game, but with noticeably more Flandre. That is all. It's a completely different game, by the way. Not an expansion or whatever.
Extra Notes: You can still save and load in the same manner as the first game. You can enable "Fast Voices" by entering in the Konami Code when you first start up the game, during the Kasugasoft logo. If you do it right you'll hear a tone.(Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A)

  23. DynaMarisa 3D

    Release Information
    Type: Platforming/Action/3rd Person shooter
    Developer: Tasogare Frontier
    Publisher: Tasogare Frontier
    Release: Comic 1☆5, on May 1, 2011
    Language: English/Japanese
    Default Controls
    Move&Aim: W,A,S,D, Mouse Aims
    Jump: Shift
Dodge: Space Bar (move forward after "Dodge" and you will run)
Scope Zoom: Mouse Wheel (only on guns that have it)
This game supports 3D stereoscopic graphics that can be activated by pressing Alt + Enter to switch into fullscreen.
    Description
Plot Point: Marisa has been caught in Patchouli's library yet again, and this time her response was of epic proportions: having evidently learned from the game "MegaMari" that merely turning the library into a castle isn't enough, she's decided to go all-out to eliminate our beloved book-borrower from her library once and for all - she's hired tons of high-tech help and enchanted the place so Marisa can't use her spell cards!  This forces Marisa to respond in kind by taking up arms and hiring her own small troop of fairy helpers.  With guns that have abilities linked to her friends, it's time to stop Pachouli's madness and make a safer future for books!
How It Works: Its a 3rd-person shooter, meaning you'll be looking at Marisa's back as well as the hordes of enemies that dare to stand against her, you are also given a small group of fairies to help you early on. The Mission objectives aren't disclosed, but range from "survive" to "kill all enemies."  The controls are like a Computer FPS; the A/S/D/W keys moves Marisa around, and you aim with the mouse.
Extra Notes: Put item acquisition on the top of your priority list: you need all the help you can get later on.   Hat: Little Marisa hats are dropped by killing the enemies around you.  These each permanently increase your Max HP by 1 point.     Gold Mushrooms: Gold Mushrooms are healing items (Who would have guessed that? I mean seriously, you only play as Marisa).     Blue Boxes: This is Important! Boxes contain new weapons, which you can use starting in the next stage.  Remember, the harder the Stage settings are, the better your weapons are, and Marisa likes very powerful weapons !  ^.^

    Description
Plot Point: (This is conjecture until a full English patch is released.)The Gacha collecting otaku main character has returned to Gensokyo, and this time he's staying full-time. Gacha become more commonplace in Gensokyo, and the SDM is hosting some sort of competition with them.

How it Works: Like the previous title, EVO+, this is a point and click game where you use money to buy gachas and spellcards for them to do battle with. New gachas and spellcards become available as the days progress. Some notable changes from EVO+ include the removal of the UFO system and the part-time job. Money is made purely through battle, and alternate costumes are bought in Kourindou instead of randomly received from a matching game. Instead of location based events, the story of 2nd progresses by exploring the areas on a story grid. Once a grid has been completed, the next one becomes available. After each battle, a gacha receives love points. These can be used either to level up your gacha up to 500, whereupon the gacha can be reformed. Reformation requires a level 500 gacha and beating that character's love rival down to zero points, then defeating a powerful version of that character in a Reform Battle. Reformed gachas start back at level 1, but with increased base stats. This can be done as many times as desired. 1,000,000 love points can be converted into "Wife Points". 3 wife points can be spent to make a character your wife, which gives them 50% bonuses to reforms and access to Wife Combination. Wife Combination, which costs 1 wife point, allows the spellcards of a secondary wife to be randomly integrated into the deck of a host wife. This can be done with different wives as many times as desired.

Extra Content: By meeting certain achievements, Ace Points can be gained and spent to increase the stats of characters that have been used over 100 times. In addition, the relationship with girls can be increased by giving gifts, and the amount of points to the relationship a certain gift will bring varies between characters. This will allow your gachas to wear certain alternate costumes. Finally, there is the King's Game, a series of 3 increasingly challenging battles against a character that forces them to progressively remove their clothing, unlocking alternate costumes for their corresponding gacha.

  25. Takkoman -Kouzatsu World-

    Release Information
    Type: Action/Platform
    Developer: Illucalab
    Publisher: Illucalab
    Release: Reitaisai 9, May 27, 2012
    Language: Japanese
    Description
Plot Point: After an unknown catastrophe, Gensokyo, the world of order and richness, and Kouzatsukyo, the world of devastation and chaos, have been tied together as one. Now, it is up to Takorin, one of the arbitrators of Kouzatsukyo, to track down the creatures who escaped from and her world and find who - or what - is responsible.

How it Works: This plays out like a Megaman Zero game as you can kick your enemies to deal heavy damage or shoot them with eye lazers for rapid fire damage, you select from eight stages and as you beat each of the bosses you learn new moves to use against enemy.   Special Attacks: To preform one of the special attacks (Which you get from the first eight bosses) you press the keys that you got told to use from the results screen after the stage and then press the special attack button, this would do nothing if you entered the command wrong, but when you enter the command correctly you should see Takorin preform a special attack on the enemy, whether this is a screen clearer or a single target attack.   The game's Steam page (please buy it if you can):  https://store.steampowered.com/app/1732480/Takkoman_Kouzatsu_World/
